'War over women' kicks off Obama-Romney race

Washington (CNN) – President Barack Obama and his certain Republican opponent in November, Mitt Romney, shifted to full general election mode Wednesday, portraying each other as threats to future American progress as their campaigns engaged in a "war over women" indicative of what to expect for the next seven months.

A day after his path to the GOP nomination cleared by chief rival Rick Santorum's withdrawal, Romney sought to reverse a gender gap problem by attacking Obama's economic policies as bad for women.

If Romney wins, I can retain my wealth, while some people will be left with nothing but to say they are Republicans. Now see if the bank will cash that check.

No one said that. In fact, the Tea Party is an equal opportunity blamer of both parties for the national debt. You belong to the Tea Party?

Wire Palladin, S. F. - In an earlier post a right wingnut said that the unemployment rate was 16%. While the U-6 is 14.5%, it represents a drop in unemployment of over 10.5% in just the last year alone
    ===================================================================================================
Yes, we all have to admit that Obama has been VERY successful at keeping people unemployed for record lengths of time even to the point thta they gave up looking for work all together, which results in the drops you have posted.

Four more years of Obama and the whole country can stop looking for work because there will be no economy left. But I am really really torn now because I know the next four years will see a lot of Obama's economic and energy IEDs explode on the people in power. I would love to see them explode in Obama's and the leftist Democrats face but I'd rather they be removed from power to prevent further economic desruction. BUT the Repyublicans had better do a VERY thorough scan for all the disasters the Democrats have buried in our economy so that they don't suffer the same fate as George Bush, who had the Democrat/leftist/Barney Frank subprime mortgage IED blow up on his watch.

Ohio man, you are kidding, right? After 232 years, American national debt was $10 trillion. In 3 years of Obamanomics it has increased 60% to $16 trillion. Don't try and portray him as anything close to fiscally responsible. That's not him.

Incorrect. We've had job growth for 25 straight months and 4M jobs have been created. Don't like the facts? Too bad. They don't really give a crap what you think.

You don't say it. The Tea Party doesn't say it. All that you Tea Partiers do is blame Obama for adding trillions of dollars to the deficit, while ignoring the fact that that is the hand he was dealt. GWB's final year had a $1.5 trillion annual defiict. Most of the deficit is a result of reduced revenue from the unemployment. And, the annual defiict has dropped each year that Pres. Obama has been in office.

While Republicans have been turning cartwheels for more of the tax cuts that were put in place under the Bush administration. Ridicule the idea of running against Bush all you want. The truth is that Romney/Ryan plan is a continuation and extension of the same Bush policies that tanked the economy. Paul Ryan said this yesterday on the morning talk shows about his budget plan.

"We are not cutting revenue. We are cutting rates." The sad part is the millions of people feed on the absurd. That we be equivalent to a liberal saying, "We are not spending more. We are spending revenue."

Go Obama! So just why did Romney oppose the Lily Ledbetter Act? Does he oppose equal pay for equal work for women or did he have some other pandering reason?

Four – You are kidding right? When you included TARP, the republican presidents, Buh, Bush 2 and Reagan were responsible for $12 trillion of our debt. I think you will find that even with the stimulus, Obama is responsible for $3.5 trillion, which has been use to get us out of the Bush/republican near depression. Do not try to portray republicans as fiscally responsible.

Republicans hail Reagan as one of the greatest of all time. During his first term he tripled the national debt, which works out to 300%. Furthermore, he increased the annual budget deficit by a factor of ten, which would have been twice that if he had not raided the Social Security Fund to pay for his massive tax cuts. Reagan. The man who Republicans hold up as the standard model for fiscal responsibility. You gotta be Mitten me.

If it was not for the 2010 elections giving Republicans the House, American national debt would be much higher. Obama had to be forced to accept spending cuts with the debt ceiling increase. He fought those cuts up to the point where he lost that battle. He would be perfectly content to see American debt run up to $20 trillion as long as he was the guy that got to spend it up. No sense of guilt at what he does to our national future. Very greedy approach, don't you think?

While 4 million jobs sounds like a lot, over TWO YEARS it is not even enough to lower the unemployment rate because it can't even cover the new people coming into the workforce, let alone all the people looking for jobs.

The FACT is the workforce is now over 2 MILLION SMALLER because Obama has frustrated people out of looking for work.
The FACT is that if the workforce was the same size as when he took office, the unemployment rate would be 10.9%.
The FACT is that Obama's manipulative burdensome socialist policies are a huge wet blanket on our economy.
The FACT is that when Obamacare hits the economy full force, not only our healthcare system will be devasted, but many small businesses along with it.

The FACT is Obama is a FAILURE that this country cannot afford to continue for another four years.

... you need to use a calculator that works.. most of Bush stuff was not on the books... Ok obama spent 3 -4 trillion in 3 – 4 yrs thats not bad from what we came from BO had to put that money in alll section of the US that needed help, after 8 yrs of bush(and how many JOBS did he add during that time while spending all that money) ?????... you try to make it look as if Obama just spent crzy on 1 thing. As things get better you dont need to spend any more you need to start collecting revenue we can start to do that now with the job growth improving, bush couldnt do that bcuz there was no job growth just JOB lost.. and as I said b4 .. what help did the repulb offer during the last 3 years for the middle class or heck for for the american people period

and No I'm not part of the Tea party.. things have been a mess every since people didnt come out to vote during that election cycle and they took over... but I see you still don't get it.. but you will get Obama For Four More Years

Four – I have to say I have never read anything as inane as what you are posting. Where are you getting this foolishness? While you belittle the creation of 4 million jobs in 3 years, after your party gave up 8 million in Bush's last three years, you are being a little hypocritical.

You're right. He's largely not responsible. Even for the increase while he was POTUS. He has presided over policies put in place by Bush and the GOP before him, policies that are by far and away the largest contributors to and account for the vast majority of the deficits and debt, and which he could not get undone due to GOP/Teatroll obstruction and an economic collapse. By far the majority of the increased debt during Obama's POTUS comes from PRIOR policies that he couldn't get rid of and the reduced gov't revenue attributable to the skyrocketing unemployment that the GOP handed him. Your superficial, purposefully misleading argument that blames solely Obama for $6T in increased debt is nothing more than the GOP/Teatrolls trying to leave Obama holding the bag. It's like taking a bat to some car's windows, handing the bat to someone else, then running away to hide while he gets blamed for the car's broken windows.

The FACT is the workforce shrunk by over 2 million between Election Day 2008 and Inauguration Day 2009 alone. The FACT is that we lost 8 million jobs during the final 18 months of Bush and the first 6 months of Obama. What changed the trajectory and turned it around? You betcha [wink, wink] The Stimulus.

Obama and Romney are two sides of the same coin. Ron Paul is the only candidate talking REAL spending cuts, ending all wars foreign and domestic, balancing the budget in one term, fixing our monetary policy, restoring liberty and obeying the constitution.
