(CNN) – The Republican National Committee said Friday it raised $13.7 million in March, the highest monthly amount the group has pulled in during the 2012 election cycle.
The fundraising total for March is up from the previous month, when the group pulled in $11.4 million. In January the RNC took in $10.5 million. At the end of the last filing period the RNC reported owing $10.9 million in debt, but said Friday that amount had been reduced to $9.9 million.

In February the Democratic National Committee raised $15,433,568 and reported owing $5.7 million in debt.
Last week the RNC filed forms with the Federal Election Commission to begin jointly fundraising with Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, an indication the former Massachusetts governor had become the party's all-but-certain nominee.
The March fundraising figures reported by the RNC Friday do not reflect any joint fundraising totals since the organizations only began raising money together this week.
