Romney courts gun owners and pivots to general election

St. Louis, Missouri (CNN) - In his first major speech to conservatives since his Republican rival Rick Santorum quit the presidential race, Mitt Romney turned his sights on the general election and accused President Barack Obama of waging "an assault on our freedoms."

Romney addressed the Annual Meeting of the National Rifle Association, which drew more than 60,000 gun enthusiasts to St. Louis to inspect the latest in personal weaponry and feast on tough political attacks against the White House.

Obama has neither signed nor proposed any new limitations on legal gun ownership. Between the Gabrielle Giffords shooting and the Martin case, he's has two opportunities, but he has passed. Despite this, the NRA paints him as the "most anti-gun president in memory" in their fundraising letters. The NRA has become just another mouthpiece for the GOP.

President Obama has expanded gun-owners rights. This is all a figment of RMoney's tax-evasion personality. Hypocrisy, lies, deflection, projection, add to the list as you see fit.

The man is a sneaky snake and I don't trust him 2 feet.

Mitt Romney's touching and heartwarming analogy of his time as Governor of Massachusetts. When a Killed American soldiers remans was returned to Logan Airport and home. And how symbolic it was to see those above at the airport gate put there hand over there heart.

I wonder if Mr. Romney asked himself way none of his five sons volunteered for military service.

I'm not questing Mr. Romney or his Sons patriotism , I'm questioning Mr. Romney's leadership of five sons during Americas longest wars.

Did he mention to these lovely 'people' of the NRA that in 2005 he supported a ban on assault rifles, stating "these kinds of weapons have no place in society"??? Yeah, I didn't think so.

He can't spout all the lies he wants to right now but when it's time for the big boys to really fight it out he will become limp (pun intended) and he will have to come up with prove of all he has said before, now and in the future.

President Obama signed one action related to guns that ALLOWS handguns on certain National Parks and Wilderness Areas. He's done nothing else related to this issue. This is yet another Romney attack on an opponent that's nothing more than lies and dishonest politics. Romney is not only the worst flip-flopper in the history of American politics, he's a basicly dishonest person.

Interesting that this candidate decided to speak to the NRA just when there were about a dozen murders of law enforcement personnel including a police chief in NH plus Coast Guardsmen in Alaska. I wonder where the perpetrators got the guns they used. Mr. Romney was so busy slamming President Obama that he just did not get the word about these tragedies. Do you think we might get some movement from the NRA to put some controls on guns that are not used for hunting?

The only worthwhile comment on this speech is:
Saying and preaching to the already converted what they want to hear. guess what the cheers were lodest whe the staements were at the worst end of complete exaggerations.

  14. Really, CNN?

Do we really need the media feeding us new political catchwords like "pivot"? "Well-oiled weather vane" is a far more accurate and descriptive phrase. Pivot describes a physical process and is often used in reference to athletics. Please stop taking perfectly good words and tainting them with the political stench of folks like Rmoney and his GOBP cult of linguistic terrorists who attack the English language. There is nothing athletic about what Rmoney is doing.

Remember people, when you see our sorry media propagandists and corporatists like CNN use the word "pivot" regarding Rmoney, this is subtle censorship to avoid the obvious: Mr. Rmoney the Robot is Flip-Flopping again.

Sneaky, deceitful, lying mormons. I detest every one of them that I've had to carry the load for at work. And we don't need one in Office of President.

I would rather vote for Donald Duck! Shows you how stupid the repo base is. They are voteing for some one with a terrible gun control record to stop some one who has not been talking guns at all. Mr hunter gatherer mitt is a twit who would probably shoot himself in the foot if using a gun. If they want this flip flopper in office then be prepared when he flops because more people come out against guns. Obama 2012

when Romney was pandering to the NRA and trying to kiss up to them, somebody should have shown on a big screen behind him all the things he said in the past about the NRA. It would not have been accepted very warmly by the crowd there I can bet you that. This guy is such a fake that it's pathetic.
