(CNN) – Mitt Romney's presidential campaign confirms that trusted adviser Beth Myers will lead the search for a running mate for the all-but-certain Republican presidential nominee.
The former Massachusetts governor made the comments Monday morning in an interview with ABC News that will air later in the day.

Myers is one of Romney's top advisers. She served as chief of staff when Romney was governor, and was campaign manager of his 2008 bid for the White House.
"This weekend was the first time we seriously really talked about it and there are some wonderful people out there," Romney said regarding the search for a running mate, in a preview of the interview released by ABC News.
Myers addressed her new role via Twitter on Monday, writing "As someone who has worked in partnership with @MittRomney for years, I am honored to lead his search for a VP."

The search is over John Mccain or Sarah Palin for a running mate for the all-but-certain Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.
Romney's VP pick will not help him. He's gone so far to the rght, that whoever his running mate is will have to take his same extreme views. There's no coming back to the center for Willard.
In order to excite the right wing base, the VP nominee needs to be even more "severely conservative" than Romney. They wanted an extremist as the nominee, but didn't get one. They want an extremist on the ticket.
In order to interest the independents, the VP nominee needs to be a clear contrast to Pres. Obama because Romney doesn't provide the clear difference, and comes up looking artificial when he tries to draw out that contrast. But, the independents are not going to vote for the extremist that the right wing wants.
Romney is facing the no-win scenario.
Romney's kind of hurting with the female vote. Hopefully, he doesn't insult us all by searching the Miss America pageant for a running mate the way McCain did.
...this should be good. Can't wait to see the pandering choice they make, just like Simple Sarah was supposed to win the womens'vote
He wants someone who can spread hate and lies, and help him hide his money, his plans for the future.
NO MORE MITT. 2 Harvard degreess (they had to sell some of their stocks to pay their way thru school -- awwwww, poor babies).
Mittens should pick a big oil executive to run with him. All he has to do is find an exec who would be willing to give up his annual $15 million bonus for a $250 K salary.
That won't be easy,, wich one of the severly conservative,is he looking for,,,
I'm willing to bet Mitt 'Etch-a-Sketch' will select a woman as his running mate. It would be blatant pandering to get the women's vote, but Romney's demonstrated in the past that he's capable of shameless pandering.
Why bother? He will never win anything anyway.
How about Sarah?
The republicans will try for a woman or a Hispanic to balance their ticket. They think that window dressing will win the Presidency. Like Sister Sarah said: You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig!
Like they won't choose someone from the South, since they need the south if they want a snowball's chance in hades of winning.
I remember when right wingnuts thought that the buffoon Quayle was qualified as VP.
Given the terrible track record of GOP/Tea Party VP choices, expect Romney to pick an air head like Gov. Nikki Haley of South Carolina, or an ignorant extremist like Rep Allen West of Florida. The two are in the same insidious class as Sarah Palin.
why is this story being buried??............
Just two days after President Barack Obama gave a sharply edged
response to news anchor Larry Conners of KMOV in St. Louis after
Conners had asked the president about Americans who get frustrated
and even angered when they see the first family jetting around to
different vacations and so forth, Obama told a panel at the Summit
of the Americas in Cartagena, Colombia that part of his job there was
to scout out locations for a future vacation with First Lady Michelle Obama
With the hidden agenda of Mike Huckabee has put the name of Rubio infront. Why can't they go for that?
I just read an article in the NY Times where they claimed and several Congressmen affirmed that the House members dictate policy and that the Romney camp follows. I was under the impression it was the other way around. I suppose that the House, that is Grouer Norquist, will decide. He stated that all they needed war someone with ten working digits to sign the bills. A private citizen wielding that much power over a political party and the legislative process is un-American and extremely scary.
@ Ellie....you, like some folks, that stir up this crap about the Obamas vacationing every week or something really is bullcrap. Do you know how often Boehner is playing golf? Nearly, 130-170 times a year since Obama took office.
That's why his 9% approval rating Tea-party congress is not providing any help to this nation. Walking out of meetings and so forth. Besides, Obama has been going grey-haired lately dealing with national & world-wide issues (and oh yes the PARTY OF NO with their record breaking FILIBUSTERS...even on issues they support). So he needs a break sometimes. PLEASE GIVE US THE TIMELINES OF HIM AND HIS FAMILY TAKING VACATIONS PLEASE.
Mitt, Please pick Nikki Haley and get her out of my state.
It doesn't matter who they choose, intelligent voters will not be voting for Mittens Robmey in November, he will get the vote of the angry white man and women that just want the country out of the hands of the black man, the mormons, and the Stepford wives. Most people are too intelligent to fall for the BS, most have not forgotten the Bush policies. Most people see straight through Mittens and Missy Anne.
OBAMA 2012!
He needs to find someone to lead HIM. He's all over the place, seveeral times a day. Can't argue with him, because he isn't what he was when he said it.
Something fishy going on. WHO is pulling the strings? Koch? Rove? Both groups? Back and forth, back and forth. Please all the billionaires all the time, Romney.
the tea party runs the republican party now. so mitten will have to go with what the tea party says, or he will be challenged in the next election if YAH forbid he wins this election. mitten will say alot of crap to get moderate and the independent to vote for him. but he knows deep down inside that he is so scared of being primaried in the next election, as soon as he win this election he will scurry back to his extreme base, and stay there until they say otherwise. mitten is too scared to stand up to them.
So it's Romney/Myers in 2012, is that what you're saying?
To bad Bernard Madoff is in prison, he would be a perfect Mitt Romney VP choice...
