Romney to address RNC meeting

Washington (CNN) – In the latest sign that Mitt Romney is looking ahead to the general election, the former Massachusetts governor will appear at the Republican National Committee's meeting later this week in Arizona, a spokesman for the Romney campaign tells CNN Monday.

Romney is scheduled to address the gathering of state Republican chairmen Friday – the same day that Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, is scheduled to speak. The three day political meeting is being held in Scottsdale.

While RNC Chairman Reince Priebus noted Sunday that the GOP has not "officially declared a presumptive nominee yet out of respect for Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich," he did acknowledge it will eventually be Romney.

"Mitt Romney had a great month and he's clearly on a pathway to be the presumptive nominee and we're going to have a unified party when this is all said and done," Priebus said in an interview on "State of the Union with Candy Crowley."

The Romney campaign has already established a joint fundraising committee with the RNC.

How can he be the nominee when I doesn't have 1144 delegates? Santorums 200 or so will go to paul so mitt is only leading by 300 max. Texas looks good for paul with 150 delegates at stake. Romney must be sweating. Mitt has 400 vs 5000 attending at Pauls speakings...

Mr Etch-A-Sketch giving another speech? Is his spoiled rotten rich wife going to do the talking for him again?

The truth hurts, and Ms Rosen nailed them.

I wonder how Arizona will apply it's very relaxed concealed-carry rule for handguns for the RNC meeting? This will be a really good place to test and see if every public event is a reasonable place for uncontrolled possession of firearms. I strongly hope and suspect nothing will happen – but this will be a well-armed group of bigoted, angry and fearful people. Still, it would be good if a Muslim prayer-festival, a gay wedding, a PETA Convention, or an NAACP meeting isn't being held in the same area...

ahhh...Romney, Jan Brewer, John McCain and some guy called Priebus on the same stage. Thank God I live very far away from Phoenix. McCain I can tolerate and respect, the other 3 I wouldn't even open my door to come see if they were right outside.

Mitt Romney is the Goldman Sachs Establishment Republican candidate. Ron Paul has real grassroot support from the American people.

  10. Namejkane fl live from teapublican moon base no taxes, no regulation no health care, free gas.

To bad he's going to lose in a Dem landslide in Nov when republicans will be put in their place for their obstructionism of the economic progress and jobs bills proposed by Obama and DEMS not to mention the credit down grade caused by the teapublican clowns.

Oh Reince you kidder. Mitt is it, like it or not. Newt and Ron are now like little gnats buzzing around Mittens' head. Mitt the Mormon IS the nominee so stop it already! Go ahead a endorse him. While I am all for President Obama, it is possible that Mitt will be able to fool enough Republicans and Independents to vote for him. I truly hope he does not win because America can't go back to the policies that brought us to this awful place in our history.

Your politics are bad for democracy but good for the 1% ; your wife's world is closer to the Czarina of Russia than to the 99%; you have no core; you are too privileged to rule; your flaunt your father's legacy: you will loose and loose badly in November; your own multi-faceted political stances will bring you down. 13. The Greedy Old PIgs declared class war on US!

Yes, they GOBP has big plans to unify the neocons, the rich, white phony christian males, the Mormon Church and whatever racists and other low-information voters they can con with their fear, lies, hate and propaganda. That's the "path to victory" the GOBP is gambling on this year.
