Boston (CNN) - The temperature was pushing 76 degrees under blinding sunshine and the score was tied at 0 when Mitt Romney took his seats in the foul ball territory at Fenway Park.
Accompanied by his son and grandson, Romney waved to onlookers and gave a thumb's up before settling in to watch the Boston Red Sox's traditional Patriots' Day game.

The game, which coincides with the Boston Marathon, falls on a local holiday that commemorates the revolutionary battles at Lexington and Concord.
Red Sox fans seated around the former Massachusetts governor said they had seen Romney at past games. One pleaded to him: "Please save our country."
In addition to his family, Romney's campaign had offered supporters the chance to fly to Boston and watch the game with the GOP presidential candidate. The winners included Matthew, a 48-year-old supporter from New Hampshire and Alexandria, a 19-year-old from California, according to a campaign official.
The group came down to their seats near third base at the top of the fourth inning. Romney wore jeans and a button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up.

McCain: I agree with Ann Romney
He's a Red Sox fan today and a Detroit Tiger's fan tomorrow. Who ever he must pander to, he'll do it!
This is one of those rites of passage for a Red Sox fan. You're not a tenured Boston fan until you've attended a Patriot's Day game.
Mitt is a winner who will go for a winner, whether Detroit or Boston. It is nice to see him out and about with his kids taking in the American Pastime. Romney 2012
I wanna see Mr Personality sit in the bleachers at Yankee stadium.
"The temperature was pushing 76 degrees under blinding sunshine and the score was tied at 0 when Mitt Romney took his seats in the fly ball zone at Fenway Park."
Sunny day. 76 degrees. Mitt Romney.
"Please save our country."
Considering the bullpen, Red Sox nation is in trouble. But I thought Mr. Rpmney's expertise was in olympic sports!
It's kind of like Romney has this checklist of "middle class American things to do" to give the impression he's just one of us. It's gotten so contrived and phony at this point, who can't see through this? Someone, please dump your bag of peanuts on his coiffed hair. He's missing that ballcap, hotdog and beer though. A team ballcap would probably be too much of a commitment.
I agree with Tyrone, I'd like to see him in the bleachers at a Yankee's game too.
The backstory likely is that Mitt swapped his tickets in the owners suite with some fans for the photo op of Mitt sitting among the common folk.
And this makes him what? A regular kinda guy? I don't think so, unless someone changes the definition of money hungry self centered hypocrite multi millionaire.
He knows many team owners, and they commiserate over how hard it is to find good car elevator repairmen on the weekend.
"Romney woos Red Sox Nation"
They're not too bright up there. They traded away Babe Ruth to the Yankees a quick buck, where he won World Series titles. More recently, they traded Roger Clemons to the Yankees for a quick buck, where he won World Seiries titles. Mitt Romney traded our jobs overseas for a quick buck, where they ain't coming back. No wonder Romney was elected Governer. They share so much in common.
So that's why we lost today. Romney needs to sit in on a couple games at Yankee Stadium.
Hey just one of the guys. How long did he stay. Long enough to get a photo? Obama 2012
When asked what team he was rooting for, Mittens kept changing his mind.
"More recently, they traded Roger Clemons to the Yankees for a quick buck,"
Ummmmmmm... No. They lost Clemens to free agency. He went to Toronto first. Then to the Yankees. Then to Houston. Then back to the Yankees. It was Clemens who went after the quick buck.
Yo wolftracks, if Mr Personality owned the Sox, they would suddenly be The Bejing Red Sox.
He seems very happy, he must of just beat his puppy!
Mitt Romney is happy at Fenway. All of the grass is cut to the right height.
He looks up no good, i thing he is buying the team & moving them. the SALT LAKE TABBY NACKLES!!
Surprised he has not said how much he loves "clam chowdah" and beans. Maybe he drop the naumber of MLB owners he knows as well.
