Boehner endorses Romney

Washington (CNN) - House Speaker John Boehner endorsed former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for president on Tuesday, after repeatedly evading questions on the Republican presidential race for months.

Citing his role as chairman of the GOP national convention Boehner has refused to comment on the Republican contest, but Boehner acknowledged for the first time on Tuesday "it's clear now that Mitt Romney is going to our nominee."

Boehner said Romney's economic policies "contrast sharply with the failed economic policies of President Obama."

"I will be proud to support Mitt Romney and do everything I can to help him win," Boehner told reporters after he met with House Republicans to discuss the November elections.

Although Romney has not locked up the delegates he needs to officially take the mantle as the GOP nominee, talks between his campaign and top Congressional Republicans have started.

According to a senior GOP leadership staffer, policy aides to Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell have had two conference calls recently with a member of the Romney campaign to discuss items coming up on the Congressional calendar. This aide stressed these discussions have been confined to items coming up on the legislative agenda.

"There have been conversations between some Congressional Republican leadership offices and the Romney campaign's policy staff about Congressional scheduling," this aide told CNN.

Cantor endorsed Romney right before his home state of Virginia held its primary last month, but the two top Congressional GOP leaders – Boehner and McConnell – avoided commenting on the lengthy battle for the nomination, until Tuesday.

McConnell also formally endorsed Romney on Tuesday, telling reporters on Capitol Hill the Republican Party is "behind him."

During an appearance on CNN's "State of the Union" earlier this month, the Kentucky senator predicted Romney would be the party's nominee and said "he's going to be an excellent candidate."

And Boehner's eyes are red why? Hung over again? No wonder nothing gets done. When they DO show up once ever 3 weeks for 3-1/2 day they are either still drunk or hung over.

Vote the baggers out in 2012.

We need reasonable, sober people in our Congress - and they need to work more than 7 days a month for their 174,000 salary.

NSS. Who else would he endorse? It's either the candidate or nobody. I guess there's not much difference between Mitt and nobody. I'd love to hear what Mitt would do, not just what Obama has theoretically done wrong, but...

The lines are drawn. The sides are chosen. The decision is crystal clear. The GOP/TP actions since 2008, emboldened further in 2010, are grounds for a massive dismissal in November. No ideas, no compassion, nothing to offer the 99% other than a poorly done budget- one even hailed as "right wing social engineering" by Newt.

Mikey – @Truth – And what exactly did they do to create jobs? Did they pass any bills except the couple of the President's bills they didn't block, but instead begrudgingly passed? All they are doing is riding on the coattails of the impact of the stimulus and other steps they weren't able to filabuster successfully that were passed when the Dems had control of the House and a stronger majority in the Senate.
"coattails of the impact of the stimulus"??? BWAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!! You mean all those "shovel ready projects" that even Obama joked about not being shovel ready?!! Yes, that GSA conference sure stimulated a lot of people in Vegas! Come on, get real. Even Obama isn't campaigning on that fiasco.

What Republicans did above all else was to STOP THE DEMOCRATS from their two years of drunken and reckless spending. Obama's non-stop attacks on businesses had no teeth once Pelosi was removed. The constant threats of regulation and taxes were over. Democrats don't understand ANYTHING about the economy, except how to WRECK it.

If republican leadership wasn't so hypocritical, self-serving, and generally lacking in integrity, their party would do much better.

How low are you willing to go? They have called this President every name possible. But wait there are still some names out there that they haven’t remember to call him yet. This is the end my people. Jesus is about to make his return. Lawless is about to completely take place on this Earth. Can you feel it or either see it. People are blind to the truth. Many are down here trying to grain power on this varnishing Earth and losing their souls at the same time. People there was a timeline put in place back in two thousand and three. But some are so blind and all they want to gain is power here on Earth. There was a word that the Sprit gave me so I will pass it on to you. I hope you absorb and meditate upon it. The Sprit gave me the word “Examine.”. The definition of this word is “to inspect or study somebody or something in detail” or to analyze something in order to understand or expose it” -- you need to examine your heart and be really sure that you would be going to Heaven. Many lips and tongues are saying “I’m Christian” just because it sounds good. However you need to step back and truly examine your mind and your heart. This President has been called so many things that I will not repeat. This President has been so disrespected than any other President. No one owns this so call White House. People look around; your houses are here today and go today. The sprit is moving swiftly upon us. The timeline had been set – for some who minds are clear and focus might want to go to (prophet ruth revelation)

Meh, whatever. The only person qualified and sufficiently talented to lead this country was Hillary to begin with. I tried to point that out to Democrats years ago. The past four years of Obaminal failure are theirs to choke on.
