(CNN) - Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell formally endorsed Mitt Romney on Tuesday, saying the Republican Party is "behind him."
"I support Governor Romney for president of the United States and he is going to be the nominee," the Kentucky senator told reporters on Capitol Hill. "The party is in the process of unifying behind him and I think it's gonna be an incredibly close, hard-fought race."

His comments came hours after House Speaker John Boehner announced support for Romney, after largely staying out of the GOP presidential horse race.
"We're all behind (Romney) and looking forward to the fall campaign, which is actually already underway," McConnell said.
While McConnell had not officially supported Romney until Tuesday, he predicted earlier in the month on CNN's "State of the Union" that Romney would be an "excellent nominee."
– CNN Senior Congressional Producer Ted Barrett contributed to this report.

Does this guy look like a turtle, or is it just me.
Oh, and by the way – it doesn't matter who he endorses. Mitt Romney will NOT be the next President. Sorry Mitt, the job is already taken by someone the MAJORITY of Americans like and want in the job.
Turtles for Weepers
It'll be hard fought, but not that close. Romney will win by 5-6 points. Obama simply cannot out run his record. His tired old four year smoke and mirror show is coming to an end fast. People have heard all of the excuses and lies they care to hear.
ad nauseum..........
McConnell's goal is still priority number one. Now it's official. He's working with the presumptive nominee to unseat Obama.
Mumbles joins in the fun too. When the GOP loudly complains that nothing got done while Obama was in office, all the Democrats have to do is repeat Mumbles and his "one term president" comment

Good. Good to see the Republican Party is behind the Republican front runner in the Republican Primaries. See everyone, they're not as crazy and disorganized as everyone thinks.

Is it just me, or does McConnell look like Beaker on " The Muppets"?
V in Chicago - the job is already taken by someone the MAJORITY of Americans like and want in the job.

Not according to the polls. Obama hasn't been above 50% in job approval for a LONG TIME. Obama's gig is almost up, thank God. We simply cannot afford four more years of divisive Obama failure.
What else is McConnell going do but endorse the floater (Mitt Romney) just going to change as time go on. Remember he's a hard conservative from M – Thur and Friday he's Democratic. If believed the stuff that comes out of Mitt mouth (floater) I have car I need to sell you for 2 dollars

California dreaming, on a winter's day!
Why would anyone care who this pug face hater endorses? People need to think for themselves and not put any stock in the endorsements of others. This is the man whose mission is to defeat President Obama, not get the economy back on track and get people back to work. This man doesn't care about you or I or the average Joe.
Someone in Kentucky needs to put this prune (prude?) out to pasture. He's as meaningless to America as a pet rock.
This endorsement will get Romney exactly 1 new vote - His
@Truth... Everyone but Fox (Faux) News' polling indicate that Obama will be returned to the White House. Good luck to the "Republicans in 2016.
yes he does look like a turtle, don't make no difference who supports the stiff, he will lose either way.
So this yo-yo finally figured out which way the wind is blowing. Mitch was always a quick study!
Sorry Mcturtle....your dream is going the drain....Obama will remain....
This guy is like the poster child for corrupt, pasty, dirt-bag politicians everywhere.
Very brave Mitch. You mean you aren't going to endorse Paul or Gingrich?
"Obama simply cannot out run his record"
Have you learned nothing from the Boston Marathon?
"The party is in the process of unifying behind him and I think it's gonna be an incredibly close, hard-fought race."
Let me finish that for you, Beaker: "....if we can't get those darn Voter ID laws passed and satrt doin a more effective job of suppressing minority, youth and elderly votes.'
@Truth – You really do live in a fantasy land.
Rom-money will have to run on the record of the last Repugant, unless he can show he is somehow different from Bush. In case he can't, no amount of money or endorsements can get his delusional butt elected. Nobody wants more Bush.
Rom-money = Bush.
