Nugent threatens death if Obama wins in November

(CNN) – Rocker Ted Nugent did little to quell his reputation as a conservative firebrand through comments at the National Rifle Association convention when he took aim (pun intended) at high profile members of the Barack Obama administration and voiced support for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

The Romney-backer, musician, activist, NRA board member and tea party figure encouraged an NRA audience over the weekend to help oust the current administration.

"If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year," Nugent said, according to a video posted on YouTube by the NRA. "If you can't go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil America hated administration, I don't even know what you're made out of."

He accused the government of "wiping its ass with the Constitution you're living under a rock some place" and labeled members of the Obama administration, including the vice president, attorney general and secretary of state "criminals."

"We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November. Am I, any questions?" Nugent said.

This is not the first time Nugent has vividly espoused his views. In fact, the NRA has a section of its website devoted to some of his statements, including profanity-laced comments and threats directed at then candidates Obama and Hillary Clinton during the last election cycle.

Responding to the comments from Nugent, who announced his support for the former Massachusetts governor in March, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said "Divisive language is offensive no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from."

"Mitt Romney believes everyone needs to be civil," she added.

Saul's reaction followed a call from Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to denounce the remarks. Wasserman Schultz sent out an email to supporters on Tuesday to solicit donations off the comments she called "despicable, deplorable and completely beyond the pale."

"Romney's surrogates should know better than to rally the troops with outrageous rhetoric that is unacceptable in our political debate," the Florida representative said in a statement. "Mitt Romney must condemn Nugent's violent and hateful rhetoric immediately, as it has no place in our political discourse or this campaign."

All of you Romney supporters out there, view this as a wake-up call! The GOP's greatest asset so far in this election has been simply criticizing our President, not coming out with solutions. All Nugent did was insult his government (that was democratically elected by the way). He did nothing close to elaborating on WHY he would be willing to face imprisonment or death for because of our President. Obama hasn't really done anything wrong. He ended the war in Iraq, killed Osama Bin Laden, is producing 100s of 1000s of jobs every month, enabled millions of people to have healthcare coverage and is significantly decreasing our dependence on nonrenewable and foreign oil.

This man has just crossed the line into treason. he should be immediately taken into custody and charged with inciting assassination of a president. i knew he was a sick puppy but i had no idea he was this bad. the FBI and Secret Service need to be on him like stink on skunk!

First off, what's with the wing shaped eyebrows? Second, people who have demanded that Obama control all democrats and what they say like a puppeteer should demand the same from their candidate. Having said that, Romney is then responsible for everything Ted Nugent says and should apologize or distance himself.

Let's hope the FBI is checking him out and not the Secret Service.

This is the kind of person that Romney will always have to impress and answer to if he were ever to become President. I don't think Mr. Nugent is evil, but he is definitely evil. As for the "shopping of their heads" remark, when I interned for Sen. Al D'Amato back in the day I had to notify the FBI if the President was ever threatened.

And the Republicans are silent on this ranting. We know the makeup of the Republicans. Radical, extremist and they want to be leaders of this nation. Wake up VOTERS, Defeat those that want to chop off the head of Obama. Vote smart in November and clean this nation of radical Republicans.

Ted Nugent is an irrelevant has-been. Who cares what he says? "Lunatic fringe?" Kettle, meet black. Most of the libs who are upset with Obama are upset because he's been too moderate. It's the people like Nugent who are way outside the norm. He's an idiot.

im a product of the sixties liberal agenda 50 yrs old and never realized how much TV and the left wing with Hollywood influenced the country. you watch it you act like it,, sheep in the making. never thinking that my normal way of life like hunting, fishing, shooting, praying, acting like any red blooded american kid would be under attack. its a slow brain washing for the country to a communist system. it started with JFK being shot by one. Ted's just scared like many of us who know the elites that are in control have been educated by the same ivy league america haters. God bless us all. This country was founded by men who knew what it was to live with little or no freedom. the punks we have now take it for granted.

@ retiredvet... you do not know what you are talking about. In fact, it is clear that most right wing people do not know what they are talking about... and for me to say that is unusual. Usually, I just disagree, but lately the right just spouts out lies. For almost as long as I have been on this earth, I have heard about how the Dems are trying to destroy this ammendment or that ammendment. We still have guns...and probably not enough gun laws. We still have religious freedom... though to most on the right, they think that religious freedom only applies to Christians, We still have freedom of speech and a right to assemble... Unless you are a liberal protester.

I am sick of all of you lies. People on the right wing are liars. If they can't win on arguement they make stuff up. And when someone calls them on their BS they cry that "the left does it too"... Well guess what... no one is listening to the crazies on the left... they have not forced their way into the mainstream. But I tell you what... if you really want to destroy this country once and for all; elect the right wing and the country of our grandfathers will be gone... The country that was created and shaped by the heros that fought WWII and Korea will be gone and we will have a country shaped entirely by the "me generation." That generation that was never fit to lead our country.

When someone opposes something on principle, he/she intelligently lays out the reason for his/her disagreement and rationally presents an alternative to convince others to buy into it. Doing otherwise by resorting to violent, threatening, hateful language and imagery shows one has no ideas or alternative to offer. That is the poverty of Nugent and his ilk. They have nothing good, reasonable or optimistic to offer America, so they resort to the behavior of a snarling junkyard dog to (they hope) scare, bully and goad others into submission through fear.
