Nugent threatens death if Obama wins in November

(CNN) – Rocker Ted Nugent did little to quell his reputation as a conservative firebrand through comments at the National Rifle Association convention when he took aim (pun intended) at high profile members of the Barack Obama administration and voiced support for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

The Romney-backer, musician, activist, NRA board member and tea party figure encouraged an NRA audience over the weekend to help oust the current administration.

"If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year," Nugent said, according to a video posted on YouTube by the NRA. "If you can't go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil America hated administration, I don't even know what you're made out of."

He accused the government of "wiping its ass with the Constitution you're living under a rock some place" and labeled members of the Obama administration, including the vice president, attorney general and secretary of state "criminals."

"We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November. Am I, any questions?" Nugent said.

This is not the first time Nugent has vividly espoused his views. In fact, the NRA has a section of its website devoted to some of his statements, including profanity-laced comments and threats directed at then candidates Obama and Hillary Clinton during the last election cycle.

Responding to the comments from Nugent, who announced his support for the former Massachusetts governor in March, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said "Divisive language is offensive no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from."

"Mitt Romney believes everyone needs to be civil," she added.

Saul's reaction followed a call from Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to denounce the remarks. Wasserman Schultz sent out an email to supporters on Tuesday to solicit donations off the comments she called "despicable, deplorable and completely beyond the pale."

"Romney's surrogates should know better than to rally the troops with outrageous rhetoric that is unacceptable in our political debate," the Florida representative said in a statement. "Mitt Romney must condemn Nugent's violent and hateful rhetoric immediately, as it has no place in our political discourse or this campaign."

"...I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year," Nugent said.

Good grief, Ted. I know the seventies were too good to you...but take it down a notch. This kind of moronic and over-the-top rhetoric and Romney "support" by Ted Nugent...besides being scary crazy and a crime .... is exactly WHY Romney and the RNC will lose in 2012 AGAIN... as well they should. They should be denouncing this kind of imbecile and his "support" but I doubt they will....instead they will continue to kiss the butts of these fringe but deluded and attention seeking lunatics for votes. Oh, well.....hopefully women and independents and all SANE people will vote for President Obama...AGAIN. As well they should.

I thought it was illegal to threaten the President....even if he skirted the issue by not naming President Obama in the same sentence; a visit from the security staff is in order (without their paramours!). Mr. Nugent has always been a blowhard; anyone who can be so proud of their ability to kill animals with guns should stay out of the public eye.

To all the previous posters. THANK YOU!!!!!! I mean to see responsible people from boths sides of the political spectrum acting like adults restores my sense of faith in humanity. I normally would have expected to see an equal proportion of "whacky righties" arguing with "morally superior lefties". Again thank you good people. Win loose or draw if the discourse of political thought can proceed in this demeanor we have not lost all hopes for a future in America....
    thank you.

I think this Nugent guy with his NRA/Tea party friends is basically threatening Mitt Romney and the president is just a scapegoat. Obama doesn't need to become president in November he is already one, and for almost 4years!! We hope Romney gets a "spine" and publicly denounce or outright rejects his endorsement.

I was there when Nugent was the two-bit third back-up band at almost every concert. You had to sit through his 3-song repertoire at almost every concert you went to. I guess 3 songs doesn't a sound retirement make. So he is reinventing himself, a rush limbaugh replacement? Please, young people, if you don't want your own demise, your own country's demise, please don't listen to this has-been nobody psycho.

Would it even matter if Obama said in plain English: Look, the NRA and GOP are milking you people for your hard earned money by driving your fear. I/we in this administration wish to address gun violence in our country, but in no way, shape or form will we abolish or obscure the second amendment. The conspiracy is dead. It has no merit.

    They wouldn't believe him.

Ambiguous, misleading headline, CNN. Shame on you!

Anyhow, Ted Nugent is more than a bit out there ~ he says outrageous things to get attention. And obviously it works, because here we all are posting about it. lol.

To the people that think President Obama is going to abolish the 2nd Amendment, please wake up. The president has never talked about abolishing the 2nd amendment. Its people that think like this that makes the United States look like we are all dumb. Listen to his speeches and words. He talks about laws that need to be enforce to stop lunatics from killing people, or going hunting with a machine gun. Who needs a macing gun to hunt? I am in favor of the 2nd amendment, but there are to many crazies running around with guns, that don't need to be running around with guns.

Ted is a B.E.M. (Booger Eatin' Moron). He appeals to the folks who save up all year to attend the State Fair. His driveway never did go all the way to the street.

Nugent is a complete nutjob who would be better off dead. I hope the Secret Service can find some time in their busy schedules to investigate his threats seriously. You can't talk about chopping people's heads off, and of being dead or in jail (implying that he had committed or attempted to commit a serious crime) and think that you can just go on living a normal life.

This chicken-hawk crapped his pants (literally) to avoid getting drafted and defending America. Now he's a tough guy and on the Board of Directors for the NRA. He's now in favor of domestic terrorism and of course having your kids go to war. This is what the NRA is really about!

  20. RNC is out of touch with Women and Middle Class Americans

Ted Nugget is talking directly to his friends like Jared Lee Louhger the nut who shot Rep. Gabrielle Gifford and killed six and shot 18 people in total. Mitt Romney sought Ted Nugget endorsement his lack of judgment disqualify him from being President.

Ted is a great musician, but he is a lunatic fringe raving madman. When it comes to his political views, to include his stance on gun control, or the lack of it, Ted may better be served to remember that we are not living in the wild west and nutts like him and many other Tea Party fruit cakes, are not people I want to see carring a gun!!! The NRA is right, guns dont kill people by themselves, people do, but it sure makes mass killing easier than trying to stab a room full of people. How many people have to be murdered before Ted and his NRA buddies relaize guns in the handds of any fruitcake are dsangerous.

Sure Nugent is a nut job, but last I checked we still have the right to free speech and expression.
Don't like what he has to say? Don't listen.
Leave it too the liberals to condemn someone for exercising their rights.
He has his right to voice his opinions just as the rest of us do.
