Nugent threatens death if Obama wins in November

(CNN) – Rocker Ted Nugent did little to quell his reputation as a conservative firebrand through comments at the National Rifle Association convention when he took aim (pun intended) at high profile members of the Barack Obama administration and voiced support for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

The Romney-backer, musician, activist, NRA board member and tea party figure encouraged an NRA audience over the weekend to help oust the current administration.

"If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year," Nugent said, according to a video posted on YouTube by the NRA. "If you can't go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil America hated administration, I don't even know what you're made out of."

He accused the government of "wiping its ass with the Constitution you're living under a rock some place" and labeled members of the Obama administration, including the vice president, attorney general and secretary of state "criminals."

"We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November. Am I, any questions?" Nugent said.

This is not the first time Nugent has vividly espoused his views. In fact, the NRA has a section of its website devoted to some of his statements, including profanity-laced comments and threats directed at then candidates Obama and Hillary Clinton during the last election cycle.

Responding to the comments from Nugent, who announced his support for the former Massachusetts governor in March, Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said "Divisive language is offensive no matter what side of the political aisle it comes from."

"Mitt Romney believes everyone needs to be civil," she added.

Saul's reaction followed a call from Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz to denounce the remarks. Wasserman Schultz sent out an email to supporters on Tuesday to solicit donations off the comments she called "despicable, deplorable and completely beyond the pale."

"Romney's surrogates should know better than to rally the troops with outrageous rhetoric that is unacceptable in our political debate," the Florida representative said in a statement. "Mitt Romney must condemn Nugent's violent and hateful rhetoric immediately, as it has no place in our political discourse or this campaign."

Mr. Romney has no clear policy goals, no clear agenda, and no clear definitions of what he will do better than President Obama. He's a WWF wrestling star pretending to be a Presidential candidate. He's a businessman with a Donald Trump predatory ideology pandering to the lowest common denominator. He is a liar and a religious zealot. Best of all, he's a draft dodger, eating Freedom fries in Paris while my uncle died in Vietnam. He wants to be Commander-In-Chief after he was afraid to serve. Hypocrite imposter egomaniac coward!

nickyscarfo–That isn't at all what he said. The quote is "If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year" Why would he mention jail if the threat was suicide? The implied threat is that he would attempt to harm the President, the consequences of which would be that he would either be arrested and put in jail or killed during the attempt.

To those blabbering on about freedom of speech, Nugent is walking a VERY thin line between his freedom and a direct threat to the President of the United States, which is an extremely serious offense.

WOW. The guy hates the President that much that he would either be dead or in jail...for what? Why would he make such a comment in the first place? What makes a person say things like that? Hmm all im gonna say is take in the fact that this President is Black and Kenyan. Yes you can say I'm pulling the race card but I know racism when its out in the open and when its hidden in words and ambiguous statements like this. The hatred for this President is beyond anything I have ever seen for any President. This is my own opinion so feel free to agree or disagree. I know racism and pure hatred when I see it and I see it plain and clear in this man and in the Republican Party – can't stand the fact that an African son is the President of United States of America smh.

I like how you all assume that the nuge is talking about killing the president. He only stated he will be dead or in jail if obama is elected again. So who is the wack job?

Nickyscarfo – did you read past the first paragraph? Here's another Nugent quote: " "We need to ride into that battlefield and chop their heads off in November." How about this one? ""If you can't go home and get everybody in your lives to clean house in this vile, evil America hated administration, I don't even know what you're made out of." This is not the way civilized people talk. This is how nutcases and psychopaths talk, and while you may not count yourself among them, there are plenty of well-armed people in this country who will feel the need to 'heed the call'.

It seems to me that Ted Nugent is just ranting as he always does. No harm, right? Tell that to Gabby Gifford. After a similar "rant" by a candidate for the Senate urged for all citizens to take "2nd Amendment solutions" if the election did not go their way, Gabby and a number of people were gunned down in Arizona. True, Ted Nugent was probably speaking metaphorically, but,you can't be too careful with the fridge right or left. Ted Nugent has to be careful with his so called rants. And at a NRA event, no less. Sad, Ted, sad.

Gray-haired rockers always amaze me. Who listens to Ted Nugent? Being a conservative firebrand would seem to be a great way for a has-been rock star some 20 or 30 years past his prime to remain in the public eye.
