Romney cites 'vast left wing conspiracy'

(CNN) – Speaking to a right wing radio host Tuesday, likely GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney repurposed a phrase from Hillary Clinton, citing a "vast left wing conspiracy" brewing in the media and liberal advocacy organizations to derail his campaign.

Romney was making an appearance on Breitbart TV and was asked by host Larry O'Connor whether he was ready to take on "the media and these nonprofits groups that are working together."

"There will be an effort by the quote vast left wing conspiracy to work together to put out their message and to attack me," Romney said in response. "They're going to do everything they can to divert from the message people care about, which is a growing economy that creates more jobs and rising incomes. That's what people care about."

Romney's choice of words echoes Clinton's assertion in 1998 that a "vast right wing conspiracy" was behind the sexual harassment charges her husband, former President Bill Clinton, was facing at the time.

"I mean, look at the very people who are involved in this – they have popped up in other settings," Clinton, now the U.S. secretary of state, said on NBC's "Today" in 1998. "This is – the great story here for anybody willing to find it and write about it and explain it is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president."

Romney said dealing with journalists, many of whom he said were biased, was a perpetual problem for Republicans.

"Many in the media are inclined to do the president's bidding and I know that's an uphill battle we fight with the media generally," Romney said, before praising O'Connor for offering a conservative voice.

The candidate said he was unfazed by the prospect of doing battle with the left's vast operation.

"Democrats know that given the president's record over the last three years they cannot run on that record," Romney said. "They will make this race about anything but the president's record and the economy."

Anyone who doesn't see the bias of the media has just been indoctrinated for so long that they are blind. Propaganda and yellow journalism are the norm today. Mitt would not have been my 1st choice, but anyone is better than Socialist Barack Obama.

It seems that CNN left the door open to the commie, marxists extremist left wacko cage here.
I challenge any of the posters to specify one economic policy that has been successful in creating, not saving, one private sector job.
    Just One, not that hard...

I find it absolutely amazing that your comments reflect a genuine lack of ability to see through media propaganda. It is apparent that you do not read bills, regulations, and executive orders. I don't care for either side of the aisle, they're both responsible. However, I also do not want a dictatorship. I suppose that you haven't noticed that the government has taken over the media, banks, medical field, water, energy, more land, and just recently food sources. I suppose that you don't mind being told what to say, where to work, where to live, etc. Haven't you noticed that China is the main source of income because the politicians are spending beyond our means? Better a businessman than "useful idiots". I don't have to like him. I just don't want my loved ones living under Communism.

When will the Democrat party agree to prohibit the billions and billions and billions of unregulated and unlimited dollars that are spent campaigning for America-hating Democrats (yes, I know that is redundant) and producing consistently and reliably bogus, false attack ads against the pro-America community (i.e., Republicans) by every uber, ultra, hard and far, far, far, far, far, far, far left, virulent, militant, hardline, fundamentalist, extremist, America-hating leftist/feminist political advocacy and lobbying group (aka super PAC) from ABC to NBC, CBS, PBS, NPR, CNN, A-Mess-NBC, HBO, Showtime, ESPN, ESPN 2, ESPN News, ESPN Classic, ESPN U, ESPN Deportes, ESPN Radio, ESPN The Magazine, the New York Times-Democrat, the Washington Post-Democrat, the execrable Associated (with terrorists) Press, al Reuters, al Jazeera, al McClatchy, Univision, Galavision, Telemundo, Telefutura, et al.?

And to really challenge you, tell me how Obama made his own way, without any hand outs from communist friends to advance his career.
He is so bought and paid for by the commies in america.

Romney is Right! The media supports, protects and defends Democrats. They have lost their neutral stance to adopt a policy of Liberalism. We all know that LIBERALISM and COMMUNISM have the exact same agenda. NO DIFFERENCE. OF THE GOVERNMENT, BY THE GOVERNMENT AND FOR THE GOVERNMENT !!

It is interesting that the posters here to a t symbolize Obamabots...people unable to think for themselves. Obviously they don't recall the media telling the Clintons in 1993 that they were "ready" to help pass Clintoncare. Or the vetting that Obama did not get, but the anal exam given to Governor Palin. A definite double standard, as most members of the media belong to unions or guilds that support the DNC...so Romney is on target with his media criticism. Outlets like the DrudgeReport are considered to be right-wing, when in truth they are about 60% liberal...they just post the news stories the Democratic National Committe (read–Obama) tells CNN, ABC, NBC, and CBS, et al, not to print.

You libs will enjoy the next 8 years, will be plenty for you window lickers to cry about. The real working Americans that carry this great nation on their backs are sick and tired of having sand kicked in their faces. Conservative hard working God fearing people that are not haters or racists. The ones that fell for Obamas lies of bringing the country together wont be fooled again. The bloom is of the rose and wise voters see Barack for what he really is.

We all saw how embarrassing the media was in the 2008 campaign with their obvious fawning over obama, and their lack of vetting the guy. Will they act just as unprofessionally this time around as well?
Polls have shown that most journalists vote Democrat, so it is no surprise that they would shill for Obama. We've seen the many scandals of is administration swept under the rug by his friends in the media, scandals that the media would be obsessing about if on the watch of Pres. Bush or any other republican.

Romney is merely stating the obvious: the media is a regular apologist for liberals in general, and the Democratic party in particular. As opposed to Hillary's comment – which was directed primarily at Rush Limbaugh – there actually IS a well-connected Liberal establishment that feeds only certain information to the American people. Only the most insulated, ignorant liberal elitist would find Romney's accusation surprising at all.

As long as the Republicans keep hammering away at Oblamer's record, Oblamer and his media hacks will fail to divert and they will lose in a landslide similar to 2010. It's that simple. Economy, economy, economy.

Mitt – your "vast left wing conspiracy" is going to go right out the window just like Clinton's did. There's no conspiracy – just an inadequate candidate vying for a job he is not qualified to do.

An inadequate candidate–is that BO you are referring to? Right you are Rudy Doody
