Romney: Obama should 'suck it up'

(CNN) - Mitt Romney drew new contrasts with President Barack Obama on Wednesday by targeting the president's fondness for golf and vacations with his family.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee said Obama's golf trips make him "scratch his head."

"I must admit, I scratch my head at the capacity of the president to take four hours off on such a regular basis to go golfing," Romney told WLW Radio in Cincinnati, responding to a question about the president's hobbies. "I would think you could kind of suck it up for four years particularly when the American people are out of work."

When asked about vacations taken by the Obama family, who travel to the president's native Hawaii annually, Romney said his family would not use four or eight years in the White House to "see the world." Instead, the former Massachusetts governor said he would frequent Camp David, the presidential retreat in the Catoctin Mountain Park of Frederick County, Maryland.

"I think one of the great resources that the president enjoys is Camp David," Romney said, after the host referenced a recent trip by Obama's eldest daughter Malia to Mexico. "I would anticipate if I were fortunate enough to become elected president that I'd be spending some time at Camp David, and my family and I would not be jetting around the world and using four years in office to see the world."

Obama has admittedly not used the grounds as much as his predecessors but is scheduled to host the G-8 summit there in May.

"Somebody pointed out that I hadn't had any of my counterparts, who I've worked with now for three years, up to Camp David," Obama told reporters in March. "I think that the weather should be good that time of year."

Team Obama did not immediately respond to a request for comment following Romney's interview.

If you listen closely, you hear the sound of a pathetic Presidential candidate throwing dung against the wall from any direction, desperate for it to stick and thus, tell him what position to take on any issue. oh look, there's Romney praying intently that the economy will stop improving or that Iran will bomb somebody so he can grab some votes. Romney might not be the worst candidate ever to challenge an incumbent president - that title is reserved for people with names like McGovern and Mondale. But Romney might be the most hollow and inauthentic. Independents, women and minorities will lean hard enough to give Obama a November victory in the 53-47 range.

As president, GWB attended two NBA finals, three World Series and two Super Bowls! O' wait! He also attended the Beijeng Olympics, all this while our troops were dying in Afghanistan and Iraq and our economy was crashing! Talking about hypocrisy!

Why is Romney bringing in the Presidents daughters Spring Vacation trip and vacation with his family, and his leisure of playing golf is this all that he can find to complain about the President, where are all those that got bent out of shape when the statement was made about Ann not working(outside of home in a office or work place) it was said lets leave the families out of the campaign and focus on the issues of the U.S., why can't Romney do the same. I am sure his kids have vacations with their friends are the Obama kids suppose to be secluded and stay in the Whitehouse and have no fun at all.

The GSA Scandal. We American taxpayers just footed the bill for the President's daughter to take a spring break trip to Mexico. Literally Millions of dollars for this and news organizations like CNN have agreed to censor this at the request of the White House.

Romney should stay on vacation and visit his millions in offshore accounts. I just hope he doesn't strap another sick dog to the roof of a car and drive 12 hours in freezing cold. Sickening animal abuser. When asked if he would do that again he replied no because of the attention!! Not because it hurt the animal (who ran away once they arrived in Canada) but because he didn't want to get caught again!! Unbelievably sadistic animal abuse.

Mitt Romney is running the worst campaign in history. Either he is making all decisions himself, or he is following the advise of his - I mean - GWs treasured advisers. Whichever it is, Romney is showing himself weak, incapable, and utterly beyond reality. Doesn't bode well for a man who wants to buy his way as leader of the free world. Play-toys are for boys, not mature men. Understandably, Mitt comes across as a little boy wanting his newest trinket. It's all he really understands: gifting Mitt Romney.

Usually, this time of the year the Romey's can be found vacationing in Europe at

"The World Cup finals for the elite sport of dancing horses, known as dressage, opened today in the Netherlands without the presence of two of its most prominent wealthy devotees, Mitt and Ann Romney. The Romneys' horse, Rafalca, will compete, however, performing to music personally selected by the Republican presidential candidate.

Mrs. Romney will not fly to the Dutch town of 's-Hertogenbosch this week to watch Rafalca and the rider she sponsors, Jan Ebeling, represent the United States in the freestyle dressage World Cup Finals. Until recently, her presence at such an elite event would have been automatic - followers of the sport describe her as a fixture in the stands on the global dressage circuit, and in past years she brought her husband Mitt Romney along with her.

another, more important factor may be behind the decision to downplay discussion of her pricey hobby: How it looks.

The rarefied sport of dressage is a sort of classical equestrian dance competition that comes with enormous expenses and rarely involves prize money. It is a sport of the rich and famous. The Romneys have owned, by some estimates, eight dressage horses, which can carry a six-figure price tag). The sponsors typically pay vet bills, insurance, help support the staffs that care for the animals, and help pay enormous transportation costs that come when horses and riders are shuttled to major competitions in Europe and around the U.S."

Well Mittens? Lot's of Americans play golf, how many have six horses valued at a million dollar a piece that they take on vacation to Europe?

Yet Romney seems fine with the record number of days George W. Bush vacationed. Hypocrite! Richy Rich Romney needs to find a real issue to campaign on.

If president Obama spent his time like you do trying and suceeding in gathering money from questionable sources he would be free to talk all day you getting your big mouth in trouble then getting your wife to cover up for you. The country might be surprised to see you on tv to see if you wear the long pants in the family or your wife who has to keep covering up your blunders.

Let's also not forget his guitar playing and "your doing a heckuva job, Brownie" while New Orleasn drowned. Let us also not forget his do-nothing secretary of state seeing Spam a Lot on Broaway and shoe shopping during that same sad affair. I only bring her up because she tops the list of VP candidates being bandied around.

RE: Seamus on the roof; the word everyone is looking for to describe mittens is SOCIOPATH, the definition of which is "a
person with a psychopathic personality whose behavior is antisocial, often criminal, and who lacks a sense of moral responsibility or social conscience".

Fits mittens behavior (at least in PUBLIC) to a "T".

I disagree somewhat on Obama's need for recreation time. However, I think it could be said that Obama should " suck it up" and quite whining. This is the whiniest President I've ever seen. His level of paranoia is right up there with Nixon.

There is nothing the president is saying now that he has not said many times over. ... The Obama campaign brain trust may have concluded that the only path to victory is by pandering to a collection of ethnic groups and interests. Hence, the class warfare theme to activate the left-wing base, the offhand comments about the Trayvon Martin case to show blacks he is with them, the lawsuits against Arizona to please Hispanic voters, and the delay in the Keystone pipeline to keep the environmental lobby and contributors happy.

Everyone knows that any President doesn't really get a day off. They work 365 days a year. With advent of the internet, one can work virtually from anywhere in the world. Romney is all wet here.

Which article did you read? The only quote from Obama is about his infrequent use of Camp David. Bush spent a lot of time out there. Probably did so because the visitor logs are not as easily accessible as the vistor logs for the White House.
