And that independence might just extend all the way to the November voting booth, as the senator – who is up for re-election - said in a report published Thursday that he might not cast a ballot for the top name on his party's ticket, President Barack Obama.

(CNN) – President Obama is heading back to late night television next week, set to appear on comedian Jimmy Fallon's show as part of a week-long push to pressure congressional Republicans to renew a measure keeping student loan rates at 3.4 percent.
News of Obama's appearance on the popular late night comedy show came via Twitter from both Fallon himself and White House Communications Director Dan Pfieffer Friday morning. It is the president's first appearance on the show, though First Lady Michelle Obama was a guest in February.

An official for American Crossroads confirms to CNN that the super PAC and its nonprofit affiliate Crossroads GPS combined brought in $99.8 million since the start of 2011, with $49 million of the haul raised just in the past three months.

(CNN) – Mitt Romney's presidential campaign says they raised nearly $12.6 million in primary funds in March.
In a release Friday, the campaign also announced that they've raised $87 million in primary funds over the past year, and that they have $10.1 million cash on hand. The campaign also said that as of the end of March, they had brought in only primary contributions. They also stated that the former Massachusetts governor, who has an estimated net worth of at least $190 million, had not made any personal loans to his campaign.

(CNN) – Ron Paul's Republican presidential campaign says they raised more than $2.6 million last month, bringing to nearly $10.4 million the amount they took in during the first quarter of this year.
The campaign of the longtime congressman from Texas, who's making his second straight bid for the GOP presidential nomination and third overall run for the White House, says they have nearly $1.8 million cash on hand and no debt.

Washington (CNN) – As officials warn of more Secret Service resignations as soon as Friday stemming from a prostitute scandal in Colombia, one of the former agents allegedly involved joked on Facebook that he checked out former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin while on assignment during the 2008 campaign.
