Rubio to make big speech

(CNN) – Republican Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida will deliver what his staff bills a "major speech on the future of U.S. foreign policy" this week, the senator's office announced Monday.

Rubio, considered to be a top vice presidential pick for likely GOP nominee Mitt Romney, is set to speak Wednesday at The Brookings Institution, a left-leaning think tank in Washington, D.C.

His remarks will focus on "whether U.S. global leadership is sustainable and even necessary in the 21st Century," his staff said in a statement, without releasing further details.

While Rubio has consistently beat back the increasing "veep" chatter, the upcoming speech marks another high-profile move for the junior senator, who's also drafting major immigration legislation and getting ready to release a memoir this summer.

Rubio appeared on the campaign trail for the first time with Romney on Monday, participating in a press conference with the candidate and taking the stage for a town hall in Aston, Pennsylvania.

- CNN's Martina Stewart and Ashley Killough contributed to this report.

This clown has not been picked yet and he is already making speeches on foreign policies? Go figure. The Republican party is completely bonkers. I cannot see how anyone could vote for any of them. That's right their base is bonkers also. I forgot that they have a one track mind.

aahh this rubio guy is adomant isnt he, i wonder what he will tell his tea party members now. romney wants all these hardliners on his team. america has finally got back the respect of foreign nations, and here come the right winged hardliners to mess it again. you will be surprise what you would get out of some countries if theyre not bullied around the clock, and threatened. lesson america doesnt have the kind of money for these right wingers to start a intimidation campaign. we cannot afford to boast up the arm forces saying their is an imaginary threat america will be invaded. we cannot afford mitten and we definately cannot afford a tea bagger like rubio. go obama

Another do-nothing GOP senator. Over his 3 years in office, Rubio hasn't done anything to improve the economy, create jobs they promised when elected. They kept obstructing the President with the tea party right wing extreme agendas while collecting a tax payer salary check for doing nothing. Now he comes from nowhere to do a propaganda. I won't waste my time for this.

Rubio, the same person who didn't know the history of his parents coming to the U.S. from Cuba, now is qualified to talk on foreign affairs. But then again I guess this is suppose to represent how much he cares about the Latino problems in this country. You've got to be joking me.

Rubio has no education or experience in foreign policy and, like all those chicken-hawks, never served in the military. He has spent a year on the foreign relations committee doing........uhm, what has he been doing? What is the fascination the Right has with this guy?

What in the world does Rubio know about foreign policy? Lying about his Cuban background certainly doesn't qualify.

  19. Core republican Values

Rubio says our President doesn't know how to lead.

That tells me Rubio is just another worthless republican rhetoric sewer pipe. Thelies spew from his mouth, but he says nothing about what he would have done better.

I hope that he leaves out the part about how his mother and father fled Castro. That pandering to Cuban/American voters was just too much. I can envision how he knows all about the world in his young life from living in Miani. I lived there too maybe ...

The Cutie Cuban appears to be demand from FELLOW GOP Politicians. It is almost like being back home in Miami with lots more friends. Wonder if he is considering paying back the tens of thousands of Dollars he couldn't account for when he was the speaker of the florida house.Home repairs, Massages ,auto repairs all questionable expenses he hasn't answered yet.He might as well enjoy this short stay as a national politician, in addition to questionable immigrant status by his family. Enjoy your stay it may not be for long.

Rubio scares anti-GOPers...and should! He's a threat to the hold that Dems have had on the Latino vote. I am latino and have had enough of the Left's false promises and hand-out trap. Rubio represents the real heartbeat of latinos whose ancestors came here to seize the opportunity to work hard in order to achieve a better life. This ABSOLUTELY resonates more with the Republican message than the Democrats'.
