Ann Romney: I had a health 'scare'

(CNN) - Ann Romney, the wife of presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney who suffers from multiple sclerosis, revealed she had a health "scare" leading up to Super Tuesday.

"There have been some days, like before Super Tuesday I was quite fatigued, and I knew I couldn't quit. I didn't tell anybody I was tired," Romney told "Entertainment Tonight" in an interview set to air Thursday. "I just kept going. I kept going."

"I had a little bit of a scare," Romney added.

She was diagnosed with the inflammatory disease in 1998 and often discuses the experience while on the campaign trail in support of her husband's White House bid. The breast cancer survivor usually details how Mitt Romney supported her during the most difficult phases, saying he told her he would eat cereal for the rest of his life if it became difficult for her to cook.

The mother of five has said she now manages her MS symptoms through horse back riding and monitoring her energy levels.

She described how the disease manifests itself in her in the latest interview, saying she starts to "almost lose my words."

"I almost can't think. I can't get words out. I start to stumble a little bit. And so those things were happening and I thought uh oh, big trouble," Romney said of the lead up to Election Day in March.

Good thing she has hundreds of millions of dollars and the best health care money can buy. Does she have any idea how many Americans are not as fortunate as her ?

I hate to sound mean, but SO WHAT!? Just trying to buy sympathy votes because they know not many people like them.

Mrs. Romney: "I had a health scare..." and 250 million dollars in the bank (some off-shore apparently) to pay for it.
The Romneys don't get it. We (99.9% of Americans) don't have their resources. This means that unless we have bullet-proof health insurance (provided by ourselves and/or our employers) it is game over. Mrs. Romney lives, we die. They don't get that. They don't get that we have no leverage when HC Insurers decide we're to expenssive and drop us, they don't get having to wait until Medicare kicks in to retire, they don't get that the ER is not a solution (nor is the resulting bankruptsy).
If the U.K. can have universal healthcare so can we. If Canada, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, and jevery other first-world nation can have universal health care SO CAN WE. It is simply a matter of political will.

Ann is looking for the sympathy vote from women voters, that feel her pain. With the best healthcare money can buy,she can afford it.Maybe an onboard doctor 24/7,wouldn't doubt it.Romneys smart, she may be his political ticket to the WH with the female vote, much like McCains Palin, but that backfired and this can too. Women can't relate with the millionairs wifes struggles because her problems are taken care of with the best care money can buy,and women know it,they're not stupid. Most women struggle financially between food, bills ,the normal things in life for their family, before their healthcare, that's normal for a caring women, mother of a family of today.Family first, moms are always secondary, that's women's motto..Kids care before their care, that's a no brainer.Republicans have already shot themselves in the foot multible times and they can't stop doing it.Their plan is to change peoples negetive views from the overall debacles of the republican party that they have created in this election campaign cycle.

she doesn't have to worry about who's going to pay for it like the rest of us do.

I hope u are doing well Ms. Romney. It must be comforting to know you have insurance to care for yourself and be there for your family and loved ones. Majority of us do not enjoy that comfort or peace of mind. We are one illness away from bankrupcy and eventually death. I would prefer if u stayed away from discussing about healthcare considering your husband and his party wants to deny it for the majority of us. I would also like for you to refrain from talking about struggling and financial troubles

As for Mitt wanting to take away affordable health care, look what he did for Mass. He brought it there, but he did it within a small economic sector that the people of Mass love, which is why he got so much of the vote there during the primaries. The US is entirely too big to do what Mitt did on a small scale.

It's kind of like a bumble bee or an ant, they can fly and are strong at their size, but make them 50times bigger and they won't be able to fly or more. Trillions of tax dollars would go into this and will cripple the country very quickly. It is also not the Federal Govt responsibility to insure you have health care.

It is their responsibility to spend our tax money properly and effectively and not on Secret Service to have prostitutes or Government Employees to have lavish parties in Vegas, let alone the average of 2 golf outtings a month.

If you want to be outraged, be outraged at the insurance companies for raising their premiums. Be outraged that Obama as LIED to you about hope and change. Be outraged that you're still believing it and are supporting a person that, while he maybe cool and an elegant talker, is way out of his league to be president and is destroying america.

If you want to be able to afford insurance. If you want to be able to have a better paying job. If you want freedom and the ability to pursue happiness, vote out Obama.

I'm sorry for her and the health scare that she had, however, I don't want to sound mean but how does this figures in the general elections?

The only thing I can see how that can figure, Mitts looking for sympathy votes among the women voters. However, this could backfire because unlike the Romney's they can afford the best medical attention with his money, most American's are not that fortunate. That's were the need for universal healthcare will come into the play for the average American!

I have a cousin with relapsing MS. It can be a pretty terrible disease, and managing it can be very expensive.. Unfortunately for him, he lost his job during the banking collapse of 2008 (he was an IT guy – kind of collateral damage), and finding another job with access to decent health insurance since than has been difficult. Without Obamacare, buying private insurance will be next to impossible for him. Hopefully the supreme court won't strike it down. I hope Ann Romney understands just how lucky she is to have married into a extraordinarily wealthy family. Most of us don't have that kind of safety net.

Doreen, nope, don't like kool-aid. Too much sugar in it. I do tend to read more then some drivel piece by Obermann and while I love Jon Stewart, he's doing it for laughs not for what's really going on. Reality doesn't lie....

Obama has spent more money then any other president and has had the least effect
Obama promised that unemployment would not go above 8% and it hasn't gone below it and that doesn't count the people that just plan gave up
Obama is still blaming Bush 3.5 years later, when is he going to take responsibility?
Obama has done on average 2 golf trips a month
Obama has spent over 25% of his time on vacation as president and that doesn't count date/movie nights at all the best resturants, feeling "bad" for poor american's as he shovels $200 steaks in his mouth.

I'm amused that you see him as a "hero" still and he's probably laughing at you behind closed doors at Martha's Vineyards drinking $500 bottles of wine.

So negative this is why Mitt Romney is running to help people. If you think Obama helped you out the last 3 years then by all means vote for him. I am going with a buisnessman this time vs. a community organizer.

I am very happy the Ann Romney got past her health scare and wish her long life and good health. I do take issue with the fact that there are many people having similar and more severe health scares who cannot afford health insurance. All this while her husband backtracks from his health insurance plan that was the basis of Obamacare – the very plan that he excoriates.

Reagan holds the records for spending increases. He doubled annual spending, tripled the national debt, and increased the annual deficit by a factor of 10 during his first term. In today's numbers that would be a $5T annual deficit and a national debt of $30T.

George W. Bush played so many rounds of golf, his own party criticized him for it. Bush also took 180 days vacation in his first three years while Obama only took 60.

How many late night talk shows has Obama done? Do you even know?

Apologies are viewed by the ignorant as a sign of weakness. Apologies are an acceptance of responsibility, compared to the self imposed ignorance and denials of the previous administration. You know, the world was glad that the American people elected a liberal instead of the war monger McCain, that they gave us a Nobel Peace Prize and Obama went and claimed it for us.

Hey Ann, my wife had a "health scare" also. Except her's was real and ended up costing her her job and putting us thousands of dollars in debt and exhausted our insurance because we hit the maximum allowable for her illness. Now we both have a "bit of a health scare" because my wife can't get insurance due to her pre-existing condition. Thanks for trying to keep us uninsured, in debt and unemployed due to your husbands policies.
