Boehner names potential VP picks

(CNN) - House Speaker John Boehner named three Republicans as potential vice presidential picks for Mitt Romney, but said there is a "long list" of qualified candidates.

The top Republican in Congress said Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio and Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana fit his criteria that the pick be capable of serving as president.

"There are a lot of people that I like. But this is a personal choice for Gov. Romney, and I'm confident that he'll have a running mate that will be helpful to the ticket," Boehner told CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley in an interview set to air Sunday.

"I think the number one quality is, are they capable of being president in the case of an emergency?" Boehner added.

Rubio? He's on record saying that he isn't ready. Mitt's on record saying someone with his record isn't ready.
Portman? His record against the middle class, teachers, firefighters, and police officers is a non-starter.
Daniels? He was the architect of the George W. Bush fiscal policies makes him a non-starter, too.

All of those names are losers for Romney. Who's left? Someone from the GOP field? Non-starters, all of them.

The who will Mitt pick sensationalism has gone from the yawn factor right smack into the who cares anymore category all in a space of a few days. Is there anything about Mitt Romney that is of interest to, say, 1 out of 10 Americans anymore?

When was the last time that you heard John Boehner use the phrase, "will of the American people"?

A long list of qualified candidates? Really? So why was the list of qualified Presidential candidates so short? Marco Rubio? Really? He might be 40 but he looks and sounds like 20. And his allegiance is to Florida Cubans, not Americans. And Romney will pick a running mate that will be "helpful to the ticket? Really? How about picking someone that will be good tfor America instead? That is the problem with Republicans, they are Republicans first and second and Americans third.

this huy in florida is not ready to be president so why would mitt choose him, oh because he think he deliver the state
for him. he be able to deliver the cuban votes that mitt was going to win anyway. when the president is elected for
a second term he will have normal and full dipolmat relation with cuba and that will be good for business.

Any of them would be far better than crazy senile Joe Biden. Honestly, that guy is looking so old these days and saying some bizarre things. I want to see his medical records released before the election. I think he is showing early signs of dimensia.

How much does anyone want to bet Romney won't be making a "personal choice" for his VP, that will be taken away from him because Romney himself isn't their "personal choice". And furthermore, Boehner himself will never be capable of being president in case of an emergency, he's a "hot mess".

If you did nothing but read CNN Ticker and the dope addled responses from the corrupt union groupies that inhabit it, you will come to understand that there is nothing that republicans have the right to say (yes I know these are the same hypocrites that cry about first amendment rights) and that all republicans are to be demeaned and degraded as much as possible (this is that concern for mankind that they love to tell each other about). If you need any more proof of the bias of the majority of the media, check out how Debbie Wasserman Schultz is shrilly calling for the release of Romneys tax returns while refusing to release her own. A story CNN will not report, but if Palin or Bachmann say anyting it will be fodder for them and solicit hundreds of responses from the dope addicts.

Please...Please...Please...choose Marco Rubio as the running mate for Rommney. The Republicans have torn this country apart with their racist actions against the middle class, women, minorities and the President of the United States.
Do you think that hispanics will vote for Rubio...if you do...think again, there isn't a snow balls chance in hell, that this will be a successful venture.

For these White men that support the Tea Party and all the mess that goes with retaining power in the 21st century...there is a new message...Custer's last Stand will not work for the safety of your children alone, the demographics of this country have changed and is expected to grow even more, within the next few years. So jump off that sinking ship and join the masses. I know it is hard to give up privaledge isn't it?

Keep opposing the President of the United States...actions that are clearly related to indifference. Soon every citizen will take the whole party of republicans out of office...

Truth, its spelled " Dementia", and please have yourself checked out. WiredwierdinSF, you ask for sympahty when you regularly call anyone who disagrees with you corrupt, dope-addled, etc. Debbie-Wasserman Schultz is not running for president, and I now that's hard for you to understand, but she is no more obligated to releaseher tax returns than Priebus is: its not relevant. Speaking of dope addicts, isn't it time for your shot? You show all the sign of a dope fiend, especially paranoia and obcession.

Rubio has been in the Senate longer than Obama was when he started running for President. So Obama can do it for President yet Rubio can't do it for VP??? Hmmm... do I sense a double standard here? Or is it just blatant hypocrisy? Or both?

  19. Joe from CT, not Lieberman

You guys are missing the point. What Cryin' John is saying is these are the guys who he thinks will somehow not be capable of being President in case anything happens, so HE can become President. Of course, that is assuming that the Repubs keep control of the House, and Steny Hoyer does not become the Speaker in January, or that he does not get ousted by a coup led by Ryan and Cantor.

Willard Robme is at best a mediocre manager. President Obama exemplifies true leadership qualities far beyond Robme's.
The Republican party is a party that has lost it's way.The VP selections from Boehner are lightweights.

They are both party chairs, and I can never recall a member of Congress having to release tax returns unless they were being investigated. Has there been an investigation of her? Nope. Quit wasting our time with pointless distractions, or, since you can't make a coherent argument on any subject on the merits, leave. Nothing but pointless bile from your ilk.
