ON THE TRAIL: May 2, 2012

(CNN) – The candidates and their campaigns hit the trail Wednesday, making stops in Virginia, California, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C.

10:30 a.m. ET - Mitt Romney holds a campaign event in Chantilly, Virginia.

3:00 p.m. ET - Newt Gingrich announces the suspension of his presidential campaign in Arlington, Virginia.

10:00 p.m. ET
- Ron Paul holds a campus town hall meeting in Fullerton, California.

Also Wednesday, Romney will visit the Republican National Committee headquarters in Washington, D.C. In the evening, he will hold a private roundtable and fundraiser with Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell in Pentagon City, Virginia.

President Barack Obama will also attend two campaign fundraisers at the W Hotel in Washington, D.C. Wednesday evening.

Vice President Joe Biden, meanwhile, will deliver remarks in Easton, Pennsylvania at Lafayette College.

    Gov. McDonnell is toxic to voters. I am surprised that there has not been large concerted repeal effort against him.

    well repos are no longer talking gas pices. Thats because they came down. Accused the president when they where up no credit now. Hum. I guess they have given up on the Bin Lauden thing too. Since a gutsy president went to Afganistan . Hum? They dropped the contraception thing to for now. Hum lets see what have they decided to complaine about now. ??? Jobs maybe. Well no worry ol mitt will create jobs if he can figure out what would be in it for him. He could go talk to ann the expert on the economy.
