Romney links Obama economic policies to Carter

Chantilly, Virginia (CNN) - At a small business in a northern Virginia suburb, Mitt Romney compared President Barack Obama's economic policies Wednesday to one-term Democratic President Jimmy Carter.

"Who would have guessed we would look back at the Carter years as the good old days," Romney said, after calling the Obama administration "the most anti-small business administration I've seen probably since Carter."

It was the second time this week that Romney has invoked Carter in criticizing Obama. On Monday he was asked whether he would have issued the same order as the president for the mission to kill Osama bin Laden. Romney said "even Jimmy Carter would" have made that decision.

In Wednesday's remarks, Romney, a longtime businessman and former Massachusetts governor, suggested Obama's failed policies were a result of his lack of business experience.

"What the president has done – and I think unknowingly never having spent any time in the private sector himself is – what the president did was – one item after another, make it harder and harder for small business to thrive and to grow and start up."

As Obama returned from a surprise trip to Afghanistan, Romney has used his appearances to focus on the state of the economy.

"Americans are tired of being tired of this economy and of this president and they want real change," said Romney.

Ann Romney introduced her husband at the event, which was held at a woman-owned business and geared toward women and the economy. In the midst of female entrepreneurs and businesswomen she said, "women actually do make the world go round."

Surrounded by materials in a warehouse for the company, Exhibit Edge, Romney told the audience people often ask the two-time presidential candidate what he would do to improve the economy.

"Look at what the president's done and do the opposite," he said.

Maybe the Romney camp can contact Billy Corgan to ask permission to use his "1979" tune as a campaign theme song.

Since Romney is such a Presidential historian, perhaps he can discuss the Bush economic legacy: unregulated thieves on Wall Street looting the nation's wealth, along with a jobs nosedive to the tune of 700K per month at the end of Bush's term. Yeah, Carter starts to look pretty good in comparison.

I'm glad to see that Mitt the Magically Morphing Candidate is finally being consistent. Unfortunately, the consistency is in saying anything, no matter how patently untrue and unbelievable, in order to pander for votes. What's next, linking Obama to Grover Cleveland?

I waited in Nixon's gas line to get my 5 gallons in 1973. Nixon froze my wages, as well as most Americans. Nixon lied. It would seem that Carter was a welcome change to tricky Dick.

Which one of these do you dislike the most
...that Obama has presided over a 8.7 trillion $ increase in the stock market (2nd biggest 41%/yr gain in history)?
..no new recessions, after the 2 during the Bush administration (2001 & 2007)?
..helping to prevent GM and Chrysler from going under?
..from a 700/000/month job losses in January and February of 2009 to a plus 200,000/month in just 3 years?
..So George which of these "Obama economic failures" do you like the most?

    Obama = Carter on steriods

Masisve failure it will take decades to recover from if he gets another 4 years to further destroy the economy and country with his divisive leftist rhetoric. If Obamacare is not repealed, it will spell the end of private healthcare in this country within 4 years.

@littlejimmytruth, your comment is so misguided that i almost didn't bother but you, like drknownothing, have to be enlightened.
The President didn't just get the black votes. He also received millions of white votes. White votes of middle class Americans tired of your party's lies and hate of everything that is right with the world and make us all different which is NOT a bad thing. The President is not one to tell us how to think, what to do and who to worship, if you call shoving your crazy religion down out throats!!!

In the picture above there are 11 women surrounding Mitt......In all my years I have never before seen such a completely dis-interested, bored group as the one above.......Mitt's only chance to win this election is to somehow prevent women from voting.

So MItt, now you have slighted Carter visa vi the Bin Laden capture/killing and now for his economic stumbles.....One thing you can't fault him on was that he proudly served the US as a Navy Captain, while you were dodging the draft in France, claiming a religious exemption......It should be illegal for a "coward" to become president of the US........you should have the right to dodge the draft, but it should somehow disqualify you as a potential president.

I hope so you nitwit. It's private health care that has been raping Americans for decades. United health Care's CEO made about 500 million a year. Like that is helping us in any way. We are the only industrialized nation that still has private health care. 30% goes to admin costs, you like that?

Brass Tacks: Mittens can't run on Obama's record. He has to confuse and obfuscate the issue by trying to draw patently ridiculous analogies with Carter in hopes to sway people who lived through the economic mess handed to Carter by Nixon and Ford. Weaksauce.
