Romney takes jab at Obama campaign's new slogan

(CNN) – Mitt Romney poked fun at President Barack Obama's new campaign slogan while speaking at a fundraiser on Wednesday.

Though he was attempting to mock the new motto, "Forward," which Team Obama rolled out in a video released Monday, Romney initially tripped up in trying to remember the word.

"His new slogan is: Progress - no, forward. Forward! That's it. Progress would be better," Romney said, according to a pool reporter in the room. "I must use that one myself, actually."

In the video, the Obama campaign makes the argument that economic conditions are improving and the president's accomplishments were possible despite strong Republican resistance.

But Romney wasted no time in mocking the president's new word choice on Wednesday: "Forward is his new slogan, and it's like, forward, what, over the cliff?"

The presumptive GOP presidential nominee was speaking at a private fundraising dinner in Pentagon City, Virginia. Other speakers at the event included Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell and Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.

While the campaign did not disclose exactly how much was raised at the event, 250 people had purchased tickets for the general reception at $2,500 each, totaling $625,000. There was also a VIP photo reception, tickets for which cost $10,000.

On Thursday, Romney will continue campaigning in Virginia, where U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota is set to officially endorse the candidate at an event in Portsmouth.

– CNN's Rachel Streitfeld and Ashley Killough contributed to this report.

Romney's slogan is "Backward". He doesn't even know the Soviet Union is gone or that Czechoslovokia has not existed since 1993. He has no clue on any foreign policy issue. He is not aware of the issues or of recent legislation – especially when it relates to women, homeowners, workers, the poor, children, education, or gays. Romney's world exists only of rich white people and the rest of us do not exist and do not matter to him. He fired a highly qualified, very experienced man today because of one reason – the man was gay. Romney is a liar for saying just a few months ago he did not judge people by their sexual orientation. Romney has lied about every issue and has no principles. He cannot be trusted and cannot be President for he is incapable of representing ALL Americans.

What is little known is that there are 2 obama campaign slogans.

Forward is the slogan for the blissful citizens who are easily distracted by the 'look, a pony with a shiny object' strategy.

Fetch is the slogan for the media.

As opposed to Romney's backwards looking motto: "Restoring America?" Republicans keep wanting to drag the entire country back to a distant, romanticized past that never actually existed.

As far as driving the country off a cliff – Bush already did that before Obama took office. It's been Obama who has been trying to pull the country back up the cliff, with the Republican dead weight in Congress constantly pulling down on him.

  5. Flipper Rmoney Failure Ahead

"Forward" is much preferable to the GOBP cult's "BACKWARDS" (to the 1800s). And leave it to the pathetic and lame Rmoney to project again with his "over the cliff" comment. The GOBP cult has been pushing America over the cliff for the last 10 years.

No wonder they call him the gaffer. What a mind. Every positive thing that Obama has achieved is without a single republican vote.
