(CNN) – Newt Gingrich's long-foundering presidential run is finally over, but the former House speaker's efforts to pay off his campaign debt are likely just beginning.
The Gingrich campaign, as of the last reporting period, owes $4.3 million to creditors, including pollsters, staffers, consultants, lawyers and event venues.

Most republican fiscal conservatives run up the debt. Look at what Reagan, Bush 1 and bush 2 did by giving us and President Obama a $12 trillion national debt. Spending tax payer money on tax cuts for big oil, Wall Street, big banks, and billionaires does not lower the debt.

I love all of the comments bagging on the Republicans and blaming them for running up the debt. They did their part but Obama has done more in 3 years than the rest combined. Say what you want but let's not pretend like Obama is the answer to our debt problems.

And what is with the ego Newt owns? He had ZERO chance of being the nominee as did Michelle Bachmann. In fact, I would suggest that in future, Republicans not speak in public at all because everytime of you open your mouths, you reaffirm the fact that Barack Obama was the right choice then and now.

Bush issued the first bailout package and President Obama created the stimulus to prevent a deep depression. Republicans fought to block the effectiveness of the stimulus – but the recovery is well underway in spite of their obstructionism. How about 105 filibusters in the Senate & the House causing the S&P to lower our bond rating to make political points! Blaming President Obama for defict spending is like blaming the Fire Department for the high water bill after they put out a fire in your house!
The only time in history that tax cuts create jobs! They have made alot of comedians and joke writers have to turn down work during this election cycle, because thats the only people who get paid. The staffers, vendors, and security.......good luck!

you can say what you wish about the debt the current president may have made, BUT he was NOT handed a surplus and turned it into a debt like a certain Republican president did. No unpaid tax cuts started nor unfunded wars. I just wonder if Obama was given the "Clinton Economy" and not the "Bush Economy" how he would have handled it guess we'll never know.
So all the debt Hillary Clinton still owes, even with the President paying her off to get out of the race, is just fine with you.
