House committee mulls Holder contempt resolution

Washington (CNN) – The top Republican on the House Oversight Committee is moving to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for failing to cooperate in the panel's investigation of the controversial "Operation Fast and Furious" weapons sting.

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-California, sent a 17-page memo and a draft contempt resolution to members of his committee Thursday, outlining what he argued was Justice Department's "refusal" to comply with the panel's probe to get information about the sting set up by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives that allowed weapons to be purchased illegally in order to track them to senior drug cartel members.

Eric Holder, the top law enforcement officer in the federal government, refuses to obey the law. He needs to resign or be fired by Obama. How can the American people tolerate such lawlessness from its highest government officials? The Obama administration is dangerous and showing it more and more every day.

It is funny how the law making branch of government is trying to act as the executive branch. If only they spent this much time making laws.

It is surprising that republicans took the time away from their anti women's rights bills and war on women long enough to try to embarrass the AG.

Alberta Gonzales, Bush's former Atty Gen., was called upon to testify over the "wire taping" scandle and he was given special privaledge by Bush and Republicans and never testified. Holder can do the same, they know it, but again the Republicans are up to no good.

Nobody needs to even try. Every time Eric Holder opens up his mouth he embarasses himself, Obama and the country. But with other incompetents in the Obama administration like Chu and Napolitano, Holder slithers under the radar. This clown is so incompetent it is scary. He's gotten people killed with his incompetence.

WHERE ARE THE JOBS!!! Another GOP deflection. Are the Republicans capable of anything constructive in this administration?? Romney has no clue about the Economy or Foreign Policy (or women's rights, social justice, social programs, education . . .), the House has the lowest approval rating ever and has no intention of doing anything positive for the next year – likely longer, the GNC is adding nothing to the equation, this is simply pathetic. Another attempt to take the discourse away from how ineffective this version of the Republican party has become!

Darrell Issa is a joke and typical of the partisan Republicans who will do anything to try to cheat or steal this election. To Republicans it is a war on America.

He accused the Justice Department of a "cover-up," but indicated he was still giving the department a chance to hand over the materials.

"If they don't, then I have the support of leadership to do what we have to do," Issa said.

Rep. Issa is looking for a written and signed confession to high crimes and misdemeanors. I don't think so.

    @ Democrat Class Warfare

The GOP blocked the full extent of what the stimulus was supposed to do. The filibuster mentality and the "my way or the highway" game playing by Boehner, McConnell, Cantor etal severely curtailed all the good that was to come from that spending. Take the blinders off and charge your party with trying to get something DONE!

This is Congressman Issa's attempts to take the onus off of him for refusing to any business that would actually benefit Americans. The longer he keeps issues like this in the news, the longer people will think he actually does the job he was elected to do.

His long term goal is to unseat President Obama and to have a Conservative president who thinks as he does. Let us any elected president will not have the same views as Congressman Issa.

Actually, much of America has contempt for the Republican-led Congress. When will these Tea Party jerks get to work creating jobs and fixing this economy. President Obama's re-election can't come fast enough. I also hope that the Republican ranks will thin too so that something can get done in the country.

How did you feel when Bush falsified intelligence data to start the Iraq War? Were you upset to see Cheney giving huge bonuses to Haliburton AFTER the Inspector General reported them for cheating the Army? Ever google the "Haliburton Loophole"? Were you good when Bush & Cheney "outed" Valerie Plaime as an intelligence agent to punish her husband for blowing the whistle? Been watching the Republicans in the House "clear themselves" of insider trading? That's okay?

Eric Holder is avoiding participation in a political witch-hunt led by the Tea Baggers in the House – the same folks who've done absolutely nothing to help the middle class or create jobs. It's interesting to note the fast and loose movement of weapons resulted from the relaxed firearms regulations – something supported by the NRA and their here "Mr. Crappy Pants Nubent" – the draft dodger.

Yes,the same sting brought to you by the republicans elustreous leader Bush, don't ya remember boys and girls or are you in denile again,I'm just asking..You don't like us going back in the past to point out his political blunders, but you're fast enough as the true hypocrites you are at trying to associate these ignorent ideas Bush had with Pres. Obamas,as his,not Bushs, real original..So,if I were you I'd apologize to Mr. Holder for actually protecting your exs past screwups and helping Bush again save face politically,as others pay the costs for his ignorence...
