(CNN) – If the voters who supported his presidential bid aren’t fired up to support Mitt Romney, the GOP had “better get a fire going,” Rick Perry said Thursday.
“God help us if he doesn’t win,” Perry said in an interview on Fox News.

The Republican Texas governor looked beyond differences that emerged on the campaign trail between himself and the former Massachusetts governor, including the financial industry bailout designed to keep “too big to fail” banks above water.
“I think he understands that too big to fail – and I’ve heard him say that on numerous occasions – is not appropriate, and that the economic models of supply and demand - they work,” Perry said.
The issue of bank bailouts made under the administration of President George W. Bush, however, may be a lasting difference between Perry and Romney. While Romney has said he opposed federal bailout of the auto industry – arguing in his “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” op-ed that a process of managed bankruptcy would serve the company better – he said as recently as March that the financial industry bailout was a different matter.
“There was a different occurrence that happened at the end of President Bush’s term, and this was that there was a concern in the country that all of the banks were going to go out of business, that there was going to be a run on the banks,” Romney said in Arbutus, Maryland. Concerned with the stability of large banks, he said companies were prepared to pull millions of dollars from their accounts, and with that “there was a fear that the whole economic system of America would collapse.”
Perry had a different take on bailouts on Thursday. “Whether it’s Wall Street or motor companies, is bad public policy.”
When he withdrew from the presidential race after a disappointing finish in the Iowa caucuses, Perry threw his support to former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who ended his own bid this week. As the nomination appeared increasingly to be going Romney’s way, Perry made a late April announcement that he would back Romney.
But should Romney not win in November, Perry may have yet another run up his sleeve. He said in February that the 2012 debates “could be” preparation for a White House run in 2016.

No, no, Rick - you've got it backwards! ('Course, no surprise there.) We'll know God is helping us when Obama wins.
As a new resident of The Woodlands I really can't say anything bad about the Govenor because he did help out veterans on home ownership however, I wish he would think before he opened his mouth. I talked to God and he said he was tired of politicians and clergy trying to tell everyone what was on his mind. He said he would make his pronouncements for himself. He did tell me he thought that the major political parties where way over the line when denegrating the other parties or their own parties candidates and that had to stop before he made everyones secrets not so secret anymore.
Rick Parry, where have you been? We missed your comedy. God help you if the GOP wins. Then again, you are too stupid to realize that you and your ilk are the oes who got the US in the mess it is in.
@the REAL Truth (who says he's not the imposter) lol
Did you read the headlines today about the unemployment rate? I didn't think so. Try going to another news site.
I'm surprised Perry remembered Romney's name. The GOP is such a clown show.
Perry is a half-wit and George W Bush is a nitwit- Texas breeds strange critters, we in the rest of the US hope they stay in Texas. Maybe we should pass a US law preventing Texans from crossing the border into the rest of the US, and put up a high fence to keep these critters in.
Sniffit - What a wonderful window you are into the soulless plutocratic abyss of the conservative hivemind.
==================================================================================
What a wonderful window you are into the vacuum of space that lies between the ears of all leftists.
God help us either way if either win. we need a middle of the road independent to win not presidents tied to big money either way. It is a richmans oofice in the government bought by special interest groups and corporations
God bless Obama
Yes, let's all look to Rick Perry's third choice to save the world.
@gordyb
He has NOT improved our image! And he has angered our allies?
And don't use the phrase "kill the baby" in any context if you are defending your godless Obama. Obama voted for partial birth abortion AND killing babies born alive if an abortion failed!
Still on that whole God thing, are ya, Rick? How's that working out for you?
Perry is the WOMD that W was looking for and it was right in his backyard.
God help us when intellectual lightweights like Perry are in positions of power.
ThinkAgain – I just figured out why all you tighty righties use "Democrat" as an adjective rather than "Democratic:
=======================================================================================
It is quite intentional and no, you didn't figure anything out Obamabot. The Democrat Party is the furthest thing in the world from "democratic". You leftists thugs are a minority in this country yet you con people and buy votes to foist your pathetically inferior and failed ideology on the greatest country in the world. You don not know how to create and build, only how to take and destroy. The "level playing field" you strive to inflict on the country is a field of losers, not of winners.
American did not become the greatest country on the planet by giving everybody a trophy for just showing up.
American did not become the greatest country on the planet by taking from those that work 16 hours a day to gve to those that sleep 16 hours a day.
If you want something then work for it. Don't expect the government to steal it from others and lay it on your doorstep.
obama spend his first term saving the country,he,ll restore the country his scound term
?? God help who?? You, Perry? You've been helped for the last 10 years with tax cuts and radical racist views and sentiments...your time is up.
Perry has to be the biggest idiot this side of hell. This type of talk causes people to act violently and think they are doing what God wants. Perry needs to keep his mouth shut and go back to his ranch.
Perry warns that if Obama wins, three very bad things will happen, but can only remember two of them.
Oh, please. "god" didn't help make it rain after the "jesus-palooza" Perry held in Texas. Why would "god" intervene if Obama is re-elected? Perhaps because "god" doesn't exist? I think a lot of Americans are really tired of politicians, especially, invoking imaginary sky gods every time they open their mouths...
God already helped us Rick...he made sure you and Santorum didn't go any further than you did.
I believe republicans SHOULD feel this way. They have certainly earned the threat of being eliminated as a second party.
From the 99% point of view, 'God help us if Obama DOESN'T win!'....
Wait a minute...whos' this guy again???
God help us if Romney does win
Perry, you crashed and burned. Just shutup.
