Perry: ‘God help us’ if Romney doesn’t win

(CNN) – If the voters who supported his presidential bid aren’t fired up to support Mitt Romney, the GOP had “better get a fire going,” Rick Perry said Thursday.

“God help us if he doesn’t win,” Perry said in an interview on Fox News.

The Republican Texas governor looked beyond differences that emerged on the campaign trail between himself and the former Massachusetts governor, including the financial industry bailout designed to keep “too big to fail” banks above water.

“I think he understands that too big to fail – and I’ve heard him say that on numerous occasions – is not appropriate, and that the economic models of supply and demand - they work,” Perry said.

The issue of bank bailouts made under the administration of President George W. Bush, however, may be a lasting difference between Perry and Romney. While Romney has said he opposed federal bailout of the auto industry – arguing in his “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” op-ed that a process of managed bankruptcy would serve the company better – he said as recently as March that the financial industry bailout was a different matter.

“There was a different occurrence that happened at the end of President Bush’s term, and this was that there was a concern in the country that all of the banks were going to go out of business, that there was going to be a run on the banks,” Romney said in Arbutus, Maryland. Concerned with the stability of large banks, he said companies were prepared to pull millions of dollars from their accounts, and with that “there was a fear that the whole economic system of America would collapse.”

Perry had a different take on bailouts on Thursday. “Whether it’s Wall Street or motor companies, is bad public policy.”

When he withdrew from the presidential race after a disappointing finish in the Iowa caucuses, Perry threw his support to former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who ended his own bid this week. As the nomination appeared increasingly to be going Romney’s way, Perry made a late April announcement that he would back Romney.

But should Romney not win in November, Perry may have yet another run up his sleeve. He said in February that the 2012 debates “could be” preparation for a White House run in 2016.

I hope the Good Hair does decide to take another crack at it, just like Bachmann, Santorum, Cain, even the grifter Newt. Roll out the Republican Krazy Klown Kar for 2016 again. Maybe we'll even get lucky & Palin will jump in. They'll make any Democratic challenger look sane by comparison, and all of the legitimate candidates like Fatman Christie, Jindal, Huntsman, Pawlenty, Jeb, etc, will get dragged down into the muck of pandering to the rightwing base by their lunacy. You could drive that whole party off a cliff for all I care, they are nothing but useless authoritarians, trying to cram their outdated morality down all our throats.

Obama's presidency has been mediocre due to inexperience and an evil dysfunctional Congress which tried and succeeded in thwarting his agenda. You can't compromise with the devil.
Well now Obama has had a wealth of experience and both he and the voters know the 9% approved Congress has to be rolled over. His next term may be stupendous. But just as he is ready to roll the American electorate will choose the phoney baloney candidate.and the 12 year reign of mediocrity will continue.

The Real Tom Paine... 7.5% Unemployment rate...Really? And what about all the people that have given up and are not even factored into the stats? Have they just vanished and do not exist anymore? Sounds like the left is skewing the numbers to make their argument for four more years. C'mon lets play this one straight up.

Perry really didn't have any "supporters", so asking them to swing over to Romney, like it would make a difference, is ludicrous. Secondly, the use of the phrase "God help us" in the context in which he used it is completely inappropriate for a genuine Christian.

I sure wish there was another choice. We need a middle class party. I'm not a die hard Republican or die hard Democrat. Who wants to start a middle class party? I know we're all broke but maybe we can pull together and get this done.

Huckabee, Palin, Bachman, Santorum, Perry, what a scary lot of theocrats who would have tried to inculcate religion into government agencies such as public schools that are funded by tax payers of many different religions or of no religious persuasions, and who would have advocated infusing pseudoscience disguised as religion into science classes.
