(CNN) – If the voters who supported his presidential bid aren’t fired up to support Mitt Romney, the GOP had “better get a fire going,” Rick Perry said Thursday.
“God help us if he doesn’t win,” Perry said in an interview on Fox News.

The Republican Texas governor looked beyond differences that emerged on the campaign trail between himself and the former Massachusetts governor, including the financial industry bailout designed to keep “too big to fail” banks above water.
“I think he understands that too big to fail – and I’ve heard him say that on numerous occasions – is not appropriate, and that the economic models of supply and demand - they work,” Perry said.
The issue of bank bailouts made under the administration of President George W. Bush, however, may be a lasting difference between Perry and Romney. While Romney has said he opposed federal bailout of the auto industry – arguing in his “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” op-ed that a process of managed bankruptcy would serve the company better – he said as recently as March that the financial industry bailout was a different matter.
“There was a different occurrence that happened at the end of President Bush’s term, and this was that there was a concern in the country that all of the banks were going to go out of business, that there was going to be a run on the banks,” Romney said in Arbutus, Maryland. Concerned with the stability of large banks, he said companies were prepared to pull millions of dollars from their accounts, and with that “there was a fear that the whole economic system of America would collapse.”
Perry had a different take on bailouts on Thursday. “Whether it’s Wall Street or motor companies, is bad public policy.”
When he withdrew from the presidential race after a disappointing finish in the Iowa caucuses, Perry threw his support to former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who ended his own bid this week. As the nomination appeared increasingly to be going Romney’s way, Perry made a late April announcement that he would back Romney.
But should Romney not win in November, Perry may have yet another run up his sleeve. He said in February that the 2012 debates “could be” preparation for a White House run in 2016.

Really? You're asking your invisible friend for help if your party doesnt win? Being delusional is keeping your party (GOP) from winning anything. How ironic.
Rick ran because God told him to. If God told him to, it means he talks to God. If he talks to God, then God told him what was going to happen. If he knows what is going to happen, why does he say God help us if Mitt doesn't win? Was he fibbing us all this time? Does this mean God doesn't talk to him anymore? Hope he doesn't feel too lonely. May Allah be merciful to him, he needs all the help he can get.
God already helped us, Rick–you're out of the race.
So, you ran and dropped out, you backed Newt and he dropped out. Glad you're putting your valuable support behind Romney.
so its ok to bail out the banks but not the autos? typical bankster..
God help us if anyone listens to this TeaPublican.
God has already helped us. Rick Perry will not be President.
Yes, god helped us already when they did not choose Perry as their nominee. Oops.
God has already helped us, insuring that you don't become president was a blessing from above
Once again, when a Republican speaks, read "we", "us", "Americans", and all such normally inclusive words as meaning "extremely wealthy people only", and coherence is restored to an illogical proposition.
What will he say when Obama wins and the world doesn't end?
"God help us".....that's what we Texans have been saying for years with Perry in control!!!
Yup.as usual – Rick Perry speaks up and immediately says something stupid. Texas Republicans are idiots to support this guy. And he's not even the worst – people just show up and vote for any half-wit thug with an R next to his name these days. And then they complain about voter ID, when their votes are fully manipulated and they're too stupid to notice.
There is no signal at all for anyone to get fired up by Romney. The man is too wooden. He is not an open up person. First and foremost he is hesitating to issue his Tax Returns, just buying time and issue them at the last moment. How on earth, anyone can expect to be behind the person who has the wishy-washy character.
If Obama wins, wouldn't that be God's will? Who are you to dispute the will of God?
It's amusing how the biggest sinners on Earth actually think God is on their side.
If cerberal void imbecile RP's endorsement of MR isn't enough for the electorate to run in another direction....
Another reason to vote for Obama!!
Perry is againts abortion – he is against universal health care and edcuation – he is against imigration – IN SHORT he is against human beings welfare and should be charged under the UN laws that prohibit acts against human rights – we will look into it and file

Perry's comment reflects a general Republican train of thought that tends to believe the economy works best if managed solely to meet the needs to of business, and that everything else will thereafter fall into place.
The problem is, the records shows that isn't true. The Republicans are fond of arguing for lower taxes for the job creators, but they're ignoring the fact that the so-called job creators have had lower taxes since 2003 and they still haven't created any jobs in America while skyrocketing their profits.
God did help us govenor...He saw to it that you were not the potential candidate for your party. Those of you on the right have made politics these last 3 years something totally negative and dark. It is my belief that the American people are fed up with the lies, distortions and out and out bigotry you and others in the taken over GOP represents.
When Perry said "us," he meant Republicans. Perry is right. The Republican Party needs help.
It seems as though Rick Perry has got himself a new pair of Mitts...er.... flip-flops
Rick Perry's endorsement of MR is enough to send the sensible electorate on a fast track to vote for Obama..
God already has helped us. Perry the buffoon dropped out, and nopublicans can see the writing on the wall.
Yeah, God help "the 1%" if Romney doesn't get elected. Thats what the 1% really needs. Help.
How this utterly incompetent and obviously less informed a bravado Texas man still in the news is very mind boggling. A man has no sham after his performance in the R debate he should have disappeared into the outer space or hide somewhere in his ranch. God help us from politicians like Perry
