(CNN) – If the voters who supported his presidential bid aren’t fired up to support Mitt Romney, the GOP had “better get a fire going,” Rick Perry said Thursday.
“God help us if he doesn’t win,” Perry said in an interview on Fox News.

The Republican Texas governor looked beyond differences that emerged on the campaign trail between himself and the former Massachusetts governor, including the financial industry bailout designed to keep “too big to fail” banks above water.
“I think he understands that too big to fail – and I’ve heard him say that on numerous occasions – is not appropriate, and that the economic models of supply and demand - they work,” Perry said.
The issue of bank bailouts made under the administration of President George W. Bush, however, may be a lasting difference between Perry and Romney. While Romney has said he opposed federal bailout of the auto industry – arguing in his “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” op-ed that a process of managed bankruptcy would serve the company better – he said as recently as March that the financial industry bailout was a different matter.
“There was a different occurrence that happened at the end of President Bush’s term, and this was that there was a concern in the country that all of the banks were going to go out of business, that there was going to be a run on the banks,” Romney said in Arbutus, Maryland. Concerned with the stability of large banks, he said companies were prepared to pull millions of dollars from their accounts, and with that “there was a fear that the whole economic system of America would collapse.”
Perry had a different take on bailouts on Thursday. “Whether it’s Wall Street or motor companies, is bad public policy.”
When he withdrew from the presidential race after a disappointing finish in the Iowa caucuses, Perry threw his support to former U.S. House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who ended his own bid this week. As the nomination appeared increasingly to be going Romney’s way, Perry made a late April announcement that he would back Romney.
But should Romney not win in November, Perry may have yet another run up his sleeve. He said in February that the 2012 debates “could be” preparation for a White House run in 2016.

God, please help us keep from having Romney's pathological lying in our presidency. It's not right.
President Obama is a good man of moral character, humility, & strong leadership, who wants to help all Americans including the middle class & those most in need.

Why does SlickRick think that somebody mght be interested in anything he has to say? Ooops, I forgot, he doesn't realize that he's irrelevant.
I thought if you were an actual Christian as opposed to one of those phony, throw-it-in-your-face types, you were always hoping that God would help the United States . . . . . . Oh, wait. I get it.
Most Americans on either side of the voting aisle, I believe, already know who they will be voting for in November. With all the recovery spinning taking place just with what Romney has said in the past is sufficient for anyone with a brain to know already his purpose and intent in running for the highest office in the USA. For someone who has spent the last several years trying to master this technique is now and will fall victim of one's on words.
Why are we still talking about Jethro Bodine.
Of course Williard......letting the companies that employ thousands of blue collar workers fail is acceptable.....but letting the rich bankers that were gaming the system fail isnt an option.
Wha a bung hole....God DID help us when he got Perry out of the running.
What a tacky and lame-brained thing to say. Perry, even more than other Repubs, is seriously challenged when it comes to articulating ideas. Oops, I meant the GOP mindless talking points.
Hey, Rick. Using Jesus for Hate gets you a free millstone!
It's funny how GOD made them all run except for Romney and Romney wins. I think GOD wants Obama as well.
BTW GOD is probably for the 99%
As usual Gvernor Perry has it backwards again. Believe me when I say here in Texas we are sick to death of "old slick Rick"! If he does continue to run things here in Texas, or any where else? God help us all!
He should just come out of the closet and then fade into history.
Ahhhh, threatening the base with God. It's been going on for millenia.
"The sky is always falling, unless you do what God says, and that means vote Romney!"
yes godhelps us if Romney is elected, e ailed as Governor rasing taxes and fees mandating health insurances and te list gpoes on
What happened to Texas succeeding from the Union? I thought that was a good idea. Come Perry, make it happen.
Why does Perry want to go back to what happened at the end of 2008?
i on't think this clown has ay brains. he proved that during the primaies. Now he wants to suck up to the would be GOP nomine. Pathetic.
god help us seems to Perry's go-to response. He showed it during the Texas drought where his response to the situation was to officially call for a couple of days of prayer.
Thanks to the policies of the republicans in ending oversights and checks and balances on banks and investment houses the whole economy almost collapsed. I for one do not want another republican as president for a very long time, and if we're ever going to get this nation back on its feet we must get rid of every republican in congress. Wishful thinking I know but that's what needs to be done. From 1994-2009 the republicans had both houses of congress and the White House for 8 of those years and what they did in that time almost ruined this nation and casued America to go bankrupt.
