Obama urges students to pressure Congress on loan rates

(CNN) - President Barack Obama on Friday urged high school students to e-mail, tweet, and teach their parents to tweet a message to Congress to prevent student loan interest rates from doubling on July 1.

In his continuing push to extend the current 3.4% interest rate charged on federal student loans, Obama told students at a Virginia high school that the goal is to provide all Americans with the best possible education.

Sure, lets keep the rates low so I won't feel bad about taking on massive amounts of more debt.

    Just like Obama does...

According to right wingnuts, the first $12 trillion of our national debt is OK, because it went for unnecessary unfunded wars, unfunded tax cuts, and TARP. The ;last $3.5 trillion in our debt was bad, because it was used to get people back to work. What crap!

If debt was important to right wingnuts, they would have had Reagan, Bush the elder, and Little Bush impeached.

Why don't the President pressure the congress on loan rates since this is his job?
How about if the ask Reid to get a bill in the senate to a vote?

To call Mittens a limp wristed, flip flopping, spineless dork, is giving him entirely too much credit.

Why do republicans think that they can only pass bills that are paid for with money from women's health care? Billionaires and big oil really do not need a safety net.

If Obama really cared about these young people he would urged them to e-mail, tweet, and teach their parents to tweet a message to Congress about the skyrocketing national debt. You know, the one he expects them to pay back!

Mittens cannot even stand up to a right wingnut radio personality, how can anyone expect him to stand up against our enemies?

The sheer idiocy, vehemence, ignorance and anger oozing from that post really requires no comment other than to point out that this is what passes for the base of the GOBP cult nowadays.

You "think" wrong, crazy person. Like many mentally-deficient, low-information rightwing radicals, you invent things people have said in done in order to attack them. Your post above is a clear example of this.

Interest rates, what a load of manure ! Lower Interest rates will not make college more affordable. Same time next year we will see 7% hikes that will wipe out the effect of an intrest deduction.

This is just some typical liberal spin on a problem. Make the symptoms look more bearable but don't tackle the root of the issue. How about we pressure Colleges and Universities to get their houses in order and start to lower costs to where they are more affordable.

  24. The REAL Truth.. (not the imposter)

@myviewis – your understanding of the political process is minimalistic at best, void at worst. The POTUS needs Congress – yeah, remember the Grand Obstructionist Party – to actually DO something and work WITH him for the betterment of the country, not AGAINST him all the time. But then, they are not interested in the good of the country, its women, students or unmployed.

Good to see that President Obama is stepping up his "Get Out The Vote" campaign by reaching out to America's youth, especially those now 18, or soon to be 18.

And Mitt Romney? Today we found Mitt reduced to speaking to what looks like pallets of ...well ... that which probably won't be "voting" in this election, or any other election.
