Barkley to Romney: 'We're going to beat you like a drum'

(CNN) - According to always-outspoken Charles Barkley, Mitt Romney's "going down" in November's presidential election.

The former pro-basketball star and NBA hall-of-famer turned hoops-analyst made the comments Sunday night during the airing of a playoff game between the Boston Celtics and the Atlanta Hawks.

Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, and his wife Ann were at game, which was held at Boston's TD Garden. A picture of them in the crowd was shown on TNT, which along with CNN is part of Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting division.

"We are going to beat you like a drum in November. But don't take it personally. I like you. You seem like a nice guy. But you're going down bro," Barkley said on the TNT broadcast, after seeing Romney in the crowd.

Barkley, a former Republican who switched his party affiliation to Democrat, has previously spoken out about the race for the White House. In December, he described the GOP presidential candidates as "idiots" for their criticism of the president.

Barkley twice weighed runs for the governor's office in his home state of Alabama, but never took the plunge into campaign politics.

Arizona Sen. John McCain, a top Romney surrogate who was the Republican presidential nominee in 2008, responded to Barkley on Twitter Monday, writing: "Dear Charles Barkley, "don't take it personally, you seem like a nice guy," but you're clueless – @MittRomney wins. Wanna bet?"

For the sake of the USA and the rest of the world, I sure hope Charles is correct. I am a business owner who endorses capitalism WITH regulations that protect all citizens' rights (including small business owners' rights) from the heartless, souless, criminal conglomerates that Romney coddles i.e. big-oil, big-military, big pharma, big Limbaughs...

Why didn't George Foreman say something like "We're going to GRILL him?". Wait... this is Charles Barkley... Ummm, he shouldn't be talking. But I agree, Rom-bot will get a beating in November.

"According to twisted liberal logic, it is impossible for black people to be racists."

Here we have a classic example of the mentally deficient radical rightwinger try to do mind-reading while building a strawman at the same time. There are plenty of liberals who recognize racists come in all colors so take your fairy tales back to your bedroom and maybe ask mommy for a glass of water.

For Chas Barkley to be able to put tw words together that makes any sense at all is a miracle. The problem is, he doesn't know what he is saying and most of all what he says makes real idiotic sense. he needs to stick with Basketball at least he can spell that (Ithink?). Harlequinn, you spought nonsense. If you continue to support Obama, I hope you are ready to throw away your citizenship for something to eat. Anyone who thought the employement numbers were good needs to do a little research, they were abismall. Anyone who thinks Obama can solve the debt crisis needs to go back to school and learn what debt, economy, and crisis means. Obama has been a total flop and it is people like Charles Barkley that support him that are the only reason he is still a viable candidate. We are in major trouble if he winns a second term, major trouble.

I think he's right. This voters in this country have a long history of voting against their own interests and will likely do again in November.

Charles Barkley can say whatever he wants. HOWEVER, broadcast netwoks set the standard on sports programming when Rush Limbaugh was fired from ESPN for his political comments and beliefs. People like Charles Barkley and Keith Olberman should NEVER be allowed to interject personal political beliefs into sportscasts if Rush Limbaugh couldn't. CBS, TNT, and TBS should fire Barkley for the same reason Limbaugh was fired, PERRIOD......

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

Rush Limbaugh wasn't discussing his opinion, he was attempting to be controversial. His comments and Barkley's are apples to switchblades. No comparison. Rush managed to take the first opportunity he had to put his stamp on the ESPN gig by making an intentionally offensive incendiary statement and he got what he wanted. Attention. (Plus Fired which he deserved.) He wasn't making a statement about his political views he was attempting to make an inflammatory statement about race which he KNEW would be spark controversy. I was watching that exact show when he did it. It was calculated and intentionally stunning and provocative.
Charles Barkley was simple stating a political view not make a statement about society in general. It may have been out of place but he didn't make a statement to intentionally spark a reaction from a particular segment on the people nor did he do it be controversial.

Barkley is just a racist. He likes Obama because he is black. But that kind of racism is OK in this country.

Or you could just be a whiny rightie and you will get an IOU saying " Subsidize the Red States and wealthy: we owe them so much". You are just enough of a mental slave to write a check for it.

The Republicans are driving America towards Socialism! A few rich people (1%) and the rest (99%) poor and receiving vouchers. That's a classic reflection of Socialism. They even coddle up to the biggest communist nation in the world: China by sending jobs over there while denying Americans jobs here. Just look at Congress: all rich and trying to get richer by financially suppressing the middle class and poor. Wake up America!!!!

Sir Charles, you tell it the way it is and the way it's going to be. This is going to be an election won by the believers and actual givers of "faith, hope and charity." The great teachings of the Christian Religions. Is not this taught in Sunday School?
