Republicans shift burden to avoid defense cuts

That ought to tell Americans where the heart of the GOP is. That ought to tell Americans that this economic recovery is being sabotaged for political expediency. And the media is culpable for not highlighting the truth as to who is for the majority of Americans and who is against them. Simply writing about GOP stance is not enough. If the media see those working against public interest and serving special interest, it ought to highlight it. Govt is essentially for the people and not for the few.

The Republican motto "War is ALWAYS good for the Economy".
That is the only economic platform that they understand and believe to be true.

Hundreds of BILLIONS!! Shifted to domestic programs and services for the poor!
    Who is pandering "class warfare"??
Once the GOP drive the economy over the edge, when money is worth NOTHING, they won't have any social ethic to fall back on because they alienated everyone other than themselves in this single-minded process to allow the US to go broke!!!
I will take people over money everyday!!

"Both parties agree something must be done. "

That's a lie. The Dems have been very clear: the agreement that was made will stand unless and until the GOP/Teatrolls agree to a balanced approach that includes revenues. That's not agreement that "something must be done." They are willing to abide by the deal that was made if all the GOP/Teatrolls have to offer is further plutocratic attempts to screw the least among us.

I am really worried that the gop is trying to cut services to the poor just so they can play daddy war bucks and make the us the police for the world I can just see all of those countrys that are armed forces are in just sitting back and having a good laugh saying let the americans spend themselves broke playing like they are protecting us while we sit back and let them it dont cost them a penny we as americans are paying for it.i am tired of the us playing policeman for the world while we as americans pay for it i say let them defend themselves and if they can not oh well we have our own poor to take care of.why is it that every time the gop want to make the pentagon budget bigger its the poor that have to foot the bill with our food our medical and our live that the gop always puts on the line.if we start to take care of our poor and sick just picture how much stronger we as a country will be because of doing so.i am just so tired of all of those rich gop members always taking from the poor just to line there own pockets.lets see just how many gop members own shares in the companys that will be making all of those new wepons that will be made.dont you think its about time that the power to control the wealth in this country go to the people that are paying the highest price and not to the richest people in this country.after all its my family and friends who have paid the price for it and by my friends i mean all of the men and women who have died for this country in the name of freedom.why dont the people in congress and the senate get real for once and see the whole picture.they sit there in there ivory tower and make laws that the poor have to pay for while the rich and powerfull get all the perks.and as for mitt rommney he is a waste of time he doesnot even have the slightest idea of what its really going to take to run this government.after all was it not the gop that got us in this mess to start with it was bush that got us into war he lied and spent us broke well before obama got into office.then the gop had the nerve to say ok mr obama why are we not out of this economic mess we are in.i guess the gop expected our new president to fix what they messed up.it took them 8years or more to do it dont you think it will take more than just 60 or 90 days to fix.as far as i am concerned the gop should be dispanned for good and be outlawed.

  10. Democrat Class Warfare - Destroying the economy, destroying the country

National defense is THE primary role of the federal government. Nobody knows what will happen with Iran in the next few months or years so cutting defense spending now is insane. And then there is North Korea mess. And the Syria mess that Obama might want to jump into because you know it is HIS job to save everybody.

What better way to break a governent that depends on two parties responsibly negotiating and compromising on the issues than by having one party completely and utterly destroy any ability to trust them on their word because they never adhere to agreements or follow through with deals they make? GOP/Teatrolls Motto: "Government is broken...see...we broke it!"

@victim mentality – So how would you suggest we balance the budget and start paying down the national debt? Defense, Social Security, Medicare, and interest on the debt make up 3/4 of our budget. Do you want to raise taxes?

Republicans going back on their agreement with the DEMS, no wonder Obama doesn't want to waste his time talking to the losers, he's just going to wait for the Dem landslide in Nov when the republican trash is swept out , thanks teaparty morons and Dick armey and tom delay , no more Texas bafoons in government.

The Republican goal again seems to be to build up defense at the expense of everything worth defending. I guess if you reduce America to a hollow shell it really won't matter who runs it. The corporations are all about branding anyway.

The GOP is made of sellouts, liars, and hypocrits! Less government is all they preach while increasing the size of our military! Weather it is a police officer or a soilder it is a government job, but the police officer will bring home more money for about the same cost to the government. I support the military but most of the defense money is spent rebuilding other countries, lets send some of that money home to rebuild our roads and bridges!

  16. The REAL Truth...

@Democrat Class Warfare – "Nobody knows what will happen with Iran in the next few months or years so cutting defense spending now is insane. And then there is North Korea mess. "
    --------------------------------–
So which is it? Create jobs. cut the deficit or simply "Obama bad"??? You can't have it both ways. The simplest cut to make is in the Defense Budget, which really has been more about SPENDING ('cus it supports the military-industrial mindset) than defense. Don't you want less govt? What better way than to reduce the 50% of the Fed Budget that takes. Even a cut to 48% would be enormous savings! DO we really need 180 US bases around the world ?

  18. The Greedy Old PIgs declared class war on US!

"Nobody knows what will happen with Iran in the next few months or years so cutting defense spending now is insane."

Ummm, nobody knows what is happening anywhere in the "next few months or years" so what exactly is the point you are trying to make? If everything is unknown, spare no cost? Funny how you GOBP cultists don't feel that way about school funding yet you do when it comes to military funding. Hmmmm, why is that? This is just another example of how your GOBP cult are complete hypocrites when it comes to their false claims about being the "party of fiscal responsbility." There is nothing "responsible" about the GOBP debt and deficit, there is nothing "responsible" about tax cuts for the filthy rich and there is nothing "responsible" about no-contract bids at inflated prices for unnecessary invasions that endanger US lives and treasure.

Oh, that's right...and I suppose all the saber rattling the GOP has been doing with Iran is just for show? What will the GOP do differently? Please, all you chickenhawk conservatives want to is send other people's kids of to die, if they can be spared from working in the min-wage paradise the righties want to set up. I don't suppose you give a fig about domestic tranquility, as long as it involves supporting your favorite plutocrats, eh? Worthless and ill-informed as usual.

Defense companies and contractors profited more in the last ten years . What did we do after WW2 , we transformed the work force . We can do it again if the people were paid more and the CEO's were paid less.

Because it's not really for defense. Corporate imperialism is an offensive strategy (double entendre intended).
