
(CNN) - Proud American citizen Michele Bachmann now has another country to call home: Switzerland.
The Minnesota congresswoman and former GOP presidential candidate was granted dual citizenship with the European country, her spokeswoman confirmed Tuesday night.

Indianapolis (CNN) - Indiana voters retired Dick Lugar on Tuesday after 36 years in the Senate, punishing him for the qualities he considered assets: seniority, expertise in foreign policy and a penchant for bipartisan cooperation.
Hoosier Republicans overwhelmingly chose to replace Lugar with Richard Mourdock, a longtime GOP operative who benefited from manpower and money from tea party activists and outside groups determined to topple the six-term veteran.
FULL STORY(CNN) - Tom Barrett, the Democratic mayor of Milwaukee, will face embattled Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker in the state's June 5th recall election. Barrett topped Democratic rivals in a primary Tuesday, CNN projected.
This isn't the first time Barrett has been matched against Walker – the two faced off in a 2010 gubernatorial election. Wisconsinites, along with many other Americans voting that year, went for the Republican in that election, choosing Walker over Barrett by 6 percentage points.

(CNN) –North Carolina voters have passed a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, CNN projects, putting a ban that already existed in state law into the state's charter.
With more than 1.5 million votes counted from Tuesday's referendum, supporters of the ban led opponents by a margin of 61% to 39%, according to figures from the State Board of Elections. Its backers prepared to celebrate by serving wedding cake to their supporters in a Raleigh ballroom.
FULL STORY(CNN) - Six-term Sen. Richard Lugar, who CNN projected would lose his bid for the GOP Senate nomination in Indiana, issued the following statement shortly after his concession speech Tuesday night:
I would like to comment on the Senate race just concluded and the direction of American politics and the Republican Party. I would reiterate from my earlier statement that I have no regrets about choosing to run for office. My health is excellent, I believe that I have been a very effective Senator for Hoosiers and for the country, and I know that the next six years would have been a time of great achievement. Further, I believed that vital national priorities, including job creation, deficit reduction, energy security, agriculture reform, and the Nunn-Lugar program, would benefit from my continued service as a Senator. These goals were worth the risk of an electoral defeat and the costs of a hard campaign.
(CNN) - North Carolina voters will pass a referendum that constutionally bans same-sex marriage, CNN projects. Amendment 1 alters North Carolina's constitution to say that "marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this state."
(CNN) - Incumbent Sen. Joe Manchin will win Tuesday's Democratic primary in West Virginia, CNN projects, pushing him one step closer in his campaign to hold on to his Senate seat this year.
"I want to thank all of the volunteers, supporters and people of this great state who continue to give me the opportunity to serve them," Manchin said in a statement. "I am truly honored and humbled by your confidence."
