Clinton addresses 'au naturale' moment

(CNN) – Hillary Clinton laughed off the perpetual conversation over her appearance that landed in the spotlight once again Monday when a picture of her sporting glasses sans make-up made the rounds on the internet.

"I feel so relieved to be at the stage I'm at in my life right now," the secretary of state told CNN Foreign Affairs Correspondent Jill Dougherty in an interview. "Because you know if I want to wear my glasses I'm wearing my glasses. If I want to wear my hair back I'm pulling my hair back. You know at some point it's just not something that deserves a lot of time and attention."

"And if others want to worry about it, I let them do the worrying for a change," Clinton added.

Clinton appeared without makeup, except lipstick, wearing thick rimmed glasses during a recent news conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh as part of a trip to promote democracy abroad.

The image of the former New York senator with longer hair landed on The Drudge Report with the caption "Hillary Au Naturale." Clinton appeared throughout her presidential bid in 2008 with short hair and pants suits, often the subject of ridicule. Since assuming her top state department post, Clinton has varied her wardrobe and her light locks now hit at her shoulders.

She looks fine, she's not running for Ms. Universe. I don't see anyone making fun of all the scary looking men in politics..

The funny thing is, the picture of her "au naturale" actually looks good. She looks good and dare I say it, beautiful?
I don't see what the fuss is about. I think Drudge Report, in their effort to disparage Hillary, only humanized her and made her more likable. That's what we call a backfire, Drudge. Nice try.

She is trying to help run our country, do people really think she cares about how she looks? If I had to deal with even a fraction of the stress that I'm sure she has, I'd probably go out in my PJ's.

I think it's great that Mrs. Clinton, our Secretary of State, is comfortable being whomever she feels like at the moment. She has such a demanding, high stress, extremely important position in our national government, that I don't know how she knows whether she's coming or going!

    I'm proud of you, Hillary.

her "au naturale" moment was probably noticed and publicized by Estee Lauder or L'Oreal – pretty sure all those cosmetic companies have staff who do nothing but internet searches looking for celebs sans makeup

Drudge is like a little brat.

This picture is supposed to be some shocker? Oh, brother.

I remember when Drudge posted a picture of John Kerry holding an ear of corn at some Iowa festival and called it "ridiculous pandering" Yet, he refused to post a similar picture of George W. Bush holding an ear of corn taken at another time.

Drudge is a brat going "nyah nyah" like a little kid.

It was a distraction for the news media to let obama slide on not solidifying his stance on gay marriage

Why is this an issue? She is doing a fabulous job and that is what counts. How about a discussion about Mitt Romney's latest hair dye.....now that's important! Come on Drudge why not make an issue of that!!

    Pathetic Media focusing it's perpetual double-standard on Hilary's make-up ! ! ! !
At the same time shilling O'bama's BOGUS claims that the Republicans are waging war on women.
We learn daily that there is no limit to the hypocrisy and no bottom for what used to be known as Journalism.

Go Hillary! As a society, we really need to think about being a lot less superficial. Hillary is intelligent and competent; who cares what she's wearing? I know I don't.

I am not concerned with her glamour (or lack of). I am concerned with her appearance as it relates to her health and well being. She looks ragged and hustled, tired and overworked. Unhealthy. She needs to get more centered or something. I respect her too much to want to see her keel over from a heart attack.

I don't care about what she looks like. I do care that, like Obama, she is a deceitful, Alinsky-ite who wants the USA to be weak and socialistic.

I saw the interview clip and found the topic of conversation more interesting. I had not even noticed what she was wearing, or there was something out of the ordinary.
