
Washington (CNN) – Those questioning how heartfelt Rick Santorum's email late Monday night to supporters was - as it didn't get to an endorsement of Mitt Romney until the 13th paragraph - are reading too much into it, a Santorum adviser says.
John Brabender, a senior Santorum strategist, told CNN that the former senator wanted to methodically lay out his reasoning and thinking to his supporters and if people are trying to read more into it than that, it's "something that doesn't really exist." Brabender also pointed out the title of the e-mail was "Governor Romney."

(CNN) - As people in North Carolina vote on a controversial referendum that would constitutionally ban same sex marriages, a new national poll indicates that half of the public supports legalizing such unions.
According to a Gallup survey released Tuesday, 50% of Americans say that same sex marriages should be recognized as legal, with 48% saying such marriages should not be legal.

(CNN) – Former New York governor and Mitt Romney supporter George Pataki injected his voice Tuesday into the debate over the current administration's stance on same-sex marriage, words quickly seized upon by the Obama re-election campaign.
Pataki used President Barack Obama's position to paint the current administration as shifty, while an Obama spokesman said his comments proved Romney has "regressed" on gay rights.

CNN: Santorum endorses Romney in e-mail to supporters
Rick Santorum told supporters in an e-mail Monday he was endorsing his one-time rival for the GOP presidential nomination Mitt Romney. Santorum, who met with Romney in Pittsburgh Friday, told supporters the meeting was "productive," and that he was able to fully determine where the likely GOP nominee stood on a wide swath of issues.
CNN: Referendum banning same-sex marriage in spotlight as 3 states hold primaries
A referendum that would constitutionally ban same-sex marriages in North Carolina is in the spotlight Tuesday, as three states hold primaries. Amendment One would alter North Carolina's constitution to say that "marriage between one man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or recognized in this State."
