In wake of endorsement, no Romney-Santorum event yet planned

Washington (CNN) – Those questioning how heartfelt Rick Santorum's email late Monday night to supporters was - as it didn't get to an endorsement of Mitt Romney until the 13th paragraph - are reading too much into it, a Santorum adviser says.

John Brabender, a senior Santorum strategist, told CNN that the former senator wanted to methodically lay out his reasoning and thinking to his supporters and if people are trying to read more into it than that, it's "something that doesn't really exist." Brabender also pointed out the title of the e-mail was "Governor Romney."

According to a Gallup survey released Tuesday, 50% of Americans say that same sex marriages should be recognized as legal, with 48% saying such marriages should not be legal.

Team Romney vs. Team Obama on same-sex marriage

(CNN) – Former New York governor and Mitt Romney supporter George Pataki injected his voice Tuesday into the debate over the current administration's stance on same-sex marriage, words quickly seized upon by the Obama re-election campaign.

Pataki used President Barack Obama's position to paint the current administration as shifty, while an Obama spokesman said his comments proved Romney has "regressed" on gay rights.

Student loan rates to double if Congress doesn't act

Washington (CNNMoney) - With federal student loan interest rates set to double July 1, the Senate will consider on Tuesday a bill to extend low 3.4% rates for another year.

In Washington, many lawmakers in both parties agree they'd like to extend the current 3.4% rates for another year. What they don't agree on is how to offset the $6 billion it would cost to do so - a substantial hurdle.
