(CNN) – An incarcerated 53-year-old man is beating President Barack Obama in eight West Virginia counties following the state's Democratic Presidential Primary Tuesday, according to the latest figures from the West Virginia secretary of state.
Keith Judd, who is currently serving a 210-month sentence at a correctional facility in Texarkana, Texas for extortion, is trailing the president 42.28% to 57.72% in the state based on the unofficial vote totals, but is leading in eight counties.

Judd only needs 15% of the vote to qualify for at least one delegate at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina this summer, according to The Charleston Gazette. His expected release date is June 24, 2013, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Obama has not had electoral success in West Virginia, a reliably red state in presidential politics. He was crushed by then-Sen. Hillary Clinton in the state's Democratic presidential primary in May 2008 by a 67% to 26% margin. And he lost the state to Sen. John McCain, the then-Republican presidential nominee, 56% to 43% in the November 2008 general election.
The Mountain State's Democratic Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and junior Sen. Joe Manchin have also recently distanced themselves from the president ahead of their 2012 elections.
In Tuesday's election, presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney received nearly 70% of the vote, according to the latest unofficial figures, while former candidate Rick Santorum garnered over 12% support and Rep. Ron Paul captured just over 11% of the vote.

I live in WV and I am totally embarassed. This state relies heavily on federal aide. We continuously rank first in "bad" categories (health, economics, etc). We can now add to that list the state with the greatest number of idiots. I am shocked that this state thinks the republican party will continue to "carry" them like they have been by Byrd, etc. Only thing I can say is that if this state votes republican in November, they get exactly what they deserve!
I am sure that Judd is White and you know there are a lot of people in this country that just cannot accept a black man in the White House, even if he is White, too.

It has more to do with Obama's stance on coal than his race. west virignians are normally good hearted people. Coal is there lively hood if you take someone's lively hood it kind of makes you angry at them.

So you expect the people that voted for a felon over Obama are going to motivated to come out in November to vote for Obama??? If they come out and vote at all it will be for Obama's OPPONENT. And they will not be alone. There will be many millions of people just like them. They will place country over party and vote Obama OUT to save the country from his disastrous policies and divisive rhetoric.
This says more about West Virginia than it does about President Obama. These folks need to get into the 21st century, read and listen to several different media outlets to get all sides of the issues and to do some fact checking before they make any decisions. It really is kind of sad.

It is not Obama's fault that WV is a one trick pony state when it comes to their economy and they rely so heavily on coal. States have had to adjust in the past when their economies have dried up due to little or no versatility. I doubt by the way things appear right now that WV is anywhere near the point where taking responsibility for oneself is at the forefront of their thought process... kinda' rolls right off that sloped forehead.

I am a Mountaineer through and through and always will be.I moved to Indiana many years ago but WV will always be home to me. Now, I can't believe that WV has turned it's back on Democrats. I can remember when a Republican was hard to find in my home town. It's also hard for me to believe that any of you would turn your balck on our President just because he's black. I think you all need to look back in history and see what happened each time a Replublican went to the White House.Including the eight yearsd before Obama was elected. He has done more for this country in the less than four years than all the eight years before him. As a matter of fact most of the problems we're having now, you can give credit to the Republicans. Okay, let me help some here to understand..........West Virginia has CLOSED primaries......The convicted felon would have been on the same ticket as all other Democrats, including Obama. The voters who voted for the felon were DEMOCRATS, not Republicans. And, when they voted for the felon as a protest vote-they were making it clear--ANYONE but Obama. And, you are nuts if you think that these voters are going to vote for Obama in November. They will either vote for Romney, or they will stay home!
The Democratic Party is no longer your father/grandfather's Democratic Party. These are no longer JFK Democrats. The Democratic Party has forced out all moderate/sane blue dog Democrats--and only the leftist loons/socialists remain. Scott Brown made this clear when he ran in Massachusetts, and used JFK's own words/speeches to make his points and win the election. JFK would not even be welcomed into the current Democratic Party.
