Lugar loss could make Indiana Senate race more competitive

Washington (CNN) - With longtime Republican Sen. Dick Lugar going down in defeat, Democrats were quick to paint the conservative candidate who beat him in Indiana's primary as "too extreme."

The result in Indiana was what Democrats had hoped for, but as the old proverb goes: "Be careful what you wish for, it might just come true."

I would LOVE to see the Democrats wasting millions of dollars thinking they can win Indiana in November. Less to spend elsewhere. But I have learned to never under estimate the cluelessness of the Democrat Party. After all, they claimed they were going to retain the House in 2010 and then lost a record number of seats in a historical whoopin'.

I love the definition of bipartisanship Mourdock is calling for, where Democrats are forced to go along with the GOP on everything. Since the GOP is going to so much trouble to purge their party and the country of thoughts that don't correspond to what they regard as sticking to the Consitution, I would like to as them what sort of society are they hoping to engineer. Don't bother with the blather about freedom and liberty, since we've already seen a preview of how they will take away every single means the average person has of being successful in states like WI. The GOP has no intention of allowing any opinions but their own to be heard. When a person like Richard Lugar is dismantled by a worthless mouthpiece because he does not display the requisite level of intolerance towards the opposition, than we are in serious trouble as a country.

BEND – I believe Indiana went blue in 2008, but after Lugar got tea bagged, it probably happen this year.

Hmmmm.... sounds like what the country saw when Democrats controlled the Senate and House. It was their way or the highway. Just ask Joe Liebermann. Democrat Party spit all over their former VP candidate because he wasn't looney leftist enough.

I will love to see Republicans wasting hundreds of millions of dollars thinking that Romney can win in November. Romney trails Obama by double digits among women, while he has at best a single-digit lead among men. Since there are more women than men, Romney is doomed.

You gotta love the hateful, spiteful, anti feminist racist that are the democrat liberals. I can't believe one of the drug addicts can't tell the difference between MN and the other one is still using hateful, disgusting language to diparage people who don't agree with him. But then again they adore the most corrupt, inept, incompetent, union toady president this country has ever had. To many drugs I guess.

    GOP/America's Blitzkrieg

“If Dick Lugar,” said John C. Danforth, a former Republican senator from Missouri, “having served five terms in the U.S. Senate and being the most respected person in the Senate and the leading authority on foreign policy, is seriously challenged by anybody in the Republican Party, we have gone so far overboard that we are beyond redemption.” 11-27-2010

MOURDOCK: "I certainly think bipartisanship ought to consist of Democrats coming to the Republican point of view." 5-9-2012

This is the reason for the fall of America, not liberalism or any other ism. It is the absolute unwillingness to cooperate and work with others.

    ==============================================================================================
Yes, and we all know that woman all vote as a block for one person, truly one size fits all right? Romney only trails Obama NOW with SINGLE WOMEN. Romney is ahead with married woman. There goes your simpleton logic. Might want to try thinking a little bit more deeply.

The ONLY true block vote is blacks for Obama but that is not because of race it is because he has done a great job of holding unemployment down in the black community, something like 15-20% (said sarcastically)

    – I have learned to never under estimate the cluelessness of the GOBP faithful ! They fall for it every time, hook, line and sinker. They do not believe in truth, facts or any semblance of reality, except for their vacuous, amnesiac revisionist version of history.

(Morlocks were created by H.G Wells for his 1895 futuristic time travel novel ..Morlocks treat the Eloi as cattle, the Eloi are clothed and fed by the Morlocks, and in return, the Morlocks eat the Eloi)

MOURDOCK: Sounds and Acts like a futuristic leader of the GOP!
The GOP treats the Teaparty as cattle, and their voters do not resist being captured and eaten

Liebermann was primaried, lost, and won re-election as an independent and caucused with the Democrats. Ben Nelson retired as a Democrat, Webb Switched to the Dems, and Joe Manchin is sailing into his re-election bid unopposed. The difference between the Dems and the GOP is that the Dems are more accepting of differences, whereas the the GOP has gone out of its way to purge the party of what is perceived as disloyalty. Get your facts straight, before you post.

Senator Lugar is a decent guy who put his country's well-being over politics.

Indiana voters put the short-sighted whining of the Tea Party ahead of moving Washington forward. More gridlock. Just what America needs.

Ok, the delegate count reported in this article is completey incorrect. Its has also been reported on Fox and other news sites that Dr. Paul has won 5 states and secured an RNC slot. Did CNN say this, no they have not. CNN and several other sites have always made this man out to be a buffoon which is as far from the truth as you can get. He is an intellegent man who has serve many years in congress. He is as much a Washington insider as you can get. If he says we have to close foreign bases and cut domestic spending by illiminating certain branches from the government then who would know better them him when it comes to such matters. Romeny doesn't, he served one term as a govener. So why bash this guy so much? I am a life long deocrat and I like this man's ideas. He is not saying anything that is out of the relm of possibilty. We need more great thinkers like Ron Paul setting policy on our behalf then people like the Obama's or Romney's of the world.

Ideologues, such as Mr Mourdock, and the rest of the tea party, cannot govern because they will not compromise. All they can do is stand around and argue over who is the most ideologically pure among them.Meanwhile the country goes to hell in a handbasket. The Gop has spent the past four years in thrall to these people. They have been obstructionists for three years. So far the ONLY things the GOP is apparently for are more tax cuts for the rich ( who neither need nor deserve them) and taking away as much as they can possibly take from the middle and working classes and the poor.

Oh, and Stuffit– i am one of the Democrats you rail about. I am not hateful. I am not spiteful. I am not a feminist racist. I do not now, and never have, used drugs. You, however, are guilty of what you accuse us of–using ad hominem (do I need to explain what that means to you?) arguments because you have absolutely NO facts to back up your position. maybe you should sweep your own porch clean. Just a thought. Oh, and learn to spell, would you? There's a good lad.

Lugar put getting the work of the people he represented in the Senate higher than being a partisan. He should be commended for doing that. I can't understand why these tea people aren't more for civility and cooperation. Maybe it is because they can't understand what it means to do that. They must have heard the phrase "my way or the highway" far too often.

And here one of our resident radical rightwing extremists auditions to be a projector. Yes, like many in his GOBP cult, he accuses others of doing what the GOBP cult and its hateful media noise machine spews daily. And that poster admitted his mistake about MN, which is far more than you will ever see the Stuffit's of CNN do.

    Obama 2012,
I did not make up the facts. Obama leads Romney among ALL women by double digits. Many polls clearly show this. Of course women are not voting as a block. Obama only has a lead, not a monopoly on women's vote. Still, there are two groups in the electorate: women and men. Obama's lead among ALL women is bigger than Romney's lead among ALL men. Since there are more women than men in the electorate, Romney is doomed.
    By the way, Obama 2012.
