Bristol Palin: Too much 'Glee' in Obama decision

(CNN) - President Barack Obama's endorsement Wednesday of same-sex marriage didn't please Bristol Palin. The daughter of former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin took to her blog Thursday to slam the president for taking political cues from his two daughters, who she suggested were watching too much television.

In an ABC News interview, Obama explained how his family helped influence his "evolution" on the issue of marriage, saying his daughters Malia and Sasha have "friends whose parents are same-sex couples."

"It wouldn't dawn on them that somehow their friends' parents would be treated differently," Obama said. "And frankly that's the kind of thing that prompts a change of perspective - not wanting to somehow explain to your child why somebody should be treated differently when it comes to the eyes of the law."

Palin, in her blog post, expressed a different view.

"While it's great to listen to your kids' ideas, there's also a time when dads simply need to be dads," wrote Palin.

She continued, "In this case, it would've been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that's not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage. Or that – as great as her friends may be – we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids' worldview."

Palin bemoaned the fact that Republican women running for office are sometimes quizzed on the role their families will play in their governing, but that Obama isn't pressed on acknowledging the impact his children make in his decision-making.

"So let me get this straight – it's a problem if my mom listened too much to my dad, but it's a heroic act if the President made a massive change in a policy position that could affect the entire nation after consulting with his teenage daughters?" Palin wondered.

The decision to back same-sex marriage was a missed opportunity for Obama, Palin wrote.

"In this case, it would've been nice if the President would've been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee," Palin wrote, referencing the popular television show about high schoolers.

"we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids' worldview."

As a single parent with absent father... she is a REAL expert on this topic.

"When dads need to be dads" - You mean, there are times when dads need to instill hate in their kids like your's did?

You and mama should participate in yet another reality TV Jack-ass show with the family. Take Rush L as a prop.

The United States has a history of redefining terms. If I remember correctly, black people were 3/5 a person and not fully human according to the Constitution. Sometimes words need to be redefined to keep up with the changing times...

All these negative comments are raging in the people because of the previous actions of Bristols family..and thats to be expected. Their ignorance really shines through for these folks who have a perfect life...those that have never made any mistakes and that know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING!!! Its really sad, tho, because when wisdom smacks them in the face, they don't even recognize it! Bristol, honey, I dont know where you got this from, but its the smartest thing I've heard regarding the same sex marriage in a loooooonnnnnggggg time! You go, gurl...and dont listen to those who think they know everything! Wisdom comes from above, and God declares in His written word that it is an abomination for a man (or woman) to lay with another man! He destroyed the cities of Sodom (where do you think we get the word sodomy from) & Gomorrah because of their unnatural lust for one another! And people wonder why America is going to the dogs!!! No one cares or wants to hear/believe/follow the word of GOd & we're all paying for it! God desires obedience to His word & He blesses those who believe and follow His statutes! "A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsel. To understand a proverb, and the interpretation, the words of the wise an their dark sayings, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction Proverbs 1:5-7

So sick and tired of the comments of the dysfunctional Palin family being considered noteworthy. Bristol Palin is the last person to address anyone else on moral issues. It's a shame that CNN considers this *news*. :( Furthermore, I don't believe for one minute that she wrote this herself.

So Bristol Palin, high school dropout, unwed teen mother, believes she is qualified to chastize President Obama for his changing thoughts on same sex marriage? Doesn't she contradict herself by saying "we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids' worldview."? Especially since she's decided to raise her child in a fatherless home?

Sorry Bristol, if you're raising your child as a single unwed mom, you have absolutely NO reason to criticize the choice of others in raising their families. You're not relevant, never were.

Perhaps if Bristol had spent more time watching television rather than having unprotected sex with Levi then perhaps should would not have been a teen mother and may also have a little more intelligence than she does now.

Perhaps Bristol is calling out her own father when she notes that sometimes a Dad should be a Dad.

But the larger question is: How does the daughter of a failed political candidate warrant this level of exposure?

I can't express strongly enough how much of an idiot this girl is. The SINGLE MOTHER critcizes the president with the following: "we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids' worldview." And he never said he listened to his kids and that they made up his mind for him about supporting gay marriage. Never. For claiming she is an absolute idiot. He said "And frankly that's the kind of thing that prompts a change of perspective – not wanting to somehow explain to your child why somebody should be treated differently when it comes to the eyes of the law." It was based on his own observations of same-sex couples, some of whom are parents of his kids' friends.

Rats- I was sure I clicked on CNN- not the National Enquirer. Who cares what this child thinks- but more importantly, why do you give them any airplay at all? They are irrelevant, and THIS is not political news.

Yeah, I have to admit CNN that this doesn't qualify as front page news. A child with a child giving advice to the President about marriage, families and morality? Perhaps she should have been spending more time watching TV...

Ms. Palin is probably just parroting comment s she head from her parents after they watched Glee. Why should anyone care about her opinions? What has she done to justify her existence? Dropping out of High School doesn't count. Having a child out of wedlock doesn't count. Being the daughter of an unscrupulous, completely incompetent politician doesn't count.

I can't imagine that Bristol Palin had much of a childhood. And here she is, a very unhappy little girl playing all grown up and nowhere to go, making nonsense by opening herself up to her own vulnerability of intellectual laziness.

Bristol Palin's own dad is a total failure as a responsible father of a teenage daughter when she got pregnant in her parent's home with a fly by boy friend and ended up with a baby to promote her mother's political agenda back in 2008. At least Malia and Sasha have a father who happens to be the POTUS and millions of people from all over the world like to hear from him regarding various subjects that affect all most everybody in this country in one way or other. Mother Palin, Jr. does not have any credential to debate or talk about any subject simply because she has no formal education (a minimum college degree) even after born and brought up in a great nation where education is almost free both at the school and college levels (studying at a state college). Bristol Plain is a shameless woman who certainly has no future in conservative republican politics and, therefore, talking against the gay rights is the dumbest thing for her at this time of presidential election year.

What Bristol? How about an unmarried woman being impregnated by a man. What can you say about that BRISTOL PALIN. I would rather have a same sex marrying than an unmarried woman being impregnated. What say you Bristol?

The Palins just can't accept that they'll never be anything but North Woods hillbillies, so Palin is still trying to have a career. Maybe Faux News will give her a gig.
