Bristol Palin: Too much 'Glee' in Obama decision

(CNN) - President Barack Obama's endorsement Wednesday of same-sex marriage didn't please Bristol Palin. The daughter of former Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin took to her blog Thursday to slam the president for taking political cues from his two daughters, who she suggested were watching too much television.

In an ABC News interview, Obama explained how his family helped influence his "evolution" on the issue of marriage, saying his daughters Malia and Sasha have "friends whose parents are same-sex couples."

"It wouldn't dawn on them that somehow their friends' parents would be treated differently," Obama said. "And frankly that's the kind of thing that prompts a change of perspective - not wanting to somehow explain to your child why somebody should be treated differently when it comes to the eyes of the law."

Palin, in her blog post, expressed a different view.

"While it's great to listen to your kids' ideas, there's also a time when dads simply need to be dads," wrote Palin.

She continued, "In this case, it would've been helpful for him to explain to Malia and Sasha that while her friends parents are no doubt lovely people, that's not a reason to change thousands of years of thinking about marriage. Or that – as great as her friends may be – we know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home. Ideally, fathers help shape their kids' worldview."

Palin bemoaned the fact that Republican women running for office are sometimes quizzed on the role their families will play in their governing, but that Obama isn't pressed on acknowledging the impact his children make in his decision-making.

"So let me get this straight – it's a problem if my mom listened too much to my dad, but it's a heroic act if the President made a massive change in a policy position that could affect the entire nation after consulting with his teenage daughters?" Palin wondered.

The decision to back same-sex marriage was a missed opportunity for Obama, Palin wrote.

"In this case, it would've been nice if the President would've been an actual leader and helped shape their thoughts instead of merely reflecting what many teenagers think after one too many episodes of Glee," Palin wrote, referencing the popular television show about high schoolers.

Bristol, raised in a fundamentalist christian home with all the religous instruction and SHE STILL GOT PREGNANT OUT OF WEDLOCK! You'd think she'd be humble enough NOT to comment on other peoples morals, but NO, here she is judging other people. I guess if Obama isn't hating on the gays and teaching his kids to hate them, demonize them, outcast them, shame them, then he's not a good dad. Well Bristol, your parents obviously did a terrible job raising you and the god message didn't really get through to you did it? I guess having a mother and a father raise you really didn't help all that much did it?

I think it is pretty humorous that this little GIRL is trying to mock our country and President with her "conservative" views, when she just had a baby out of WEDLOCK. She is almost as big of a joke as her mother.

Honey, if it weren't for TV, nobody would even be reading about your one-sided, shallow, opinion.

I need to get my computer fixed. I logged on to CNN and apparently connected to the "National Enquirer" site. THIS is not news!! Who could possibly care what is roaming through Bristol Palin's head? Giving birth at 16 and raising a child with no father makes her an authority on parenthood? How absurd! The big question is WHY would CNN even report this story as news? Thanks for providing more material to John Stewart and "The Daily Show"!

How sad that this little girl uses her parent’s "fame" to criticize a well educated, intelligent family. Is it her lack of experience that makes her an expert about father’s roles in children’s education and how well abstinence works for TV-crazed kids like her and her former partner?

And this coming from an UNWED MOTHER, whose illegitimate child doesn't have the so-called happy mom and dad family!!!! What a complete and stupid hypocrite. She came from one of those perfect little intact families, and look what she did – certainly not an example I would want for my child. All the Palins should keep their hypocritical mouths shut – they're all "... do as I say, but not as I do."

Bristol, i am wondering what is in the future for you. Are you hoping to be a states person, a judge of morality or something else? Are you figuring a strong education will help you get there?

Bristol, you should stick to the shallow end of the pool. Mr. Obama is way out of your league.

He is shaping their thoughts to NOT treat people badly because they don't have the same beliefs or make the same choices as you or me. Normalcy is relative to the little world that we all live in. President Obama is thinking of basic human rights, not what all of the bandwagon religious fanatics want you to see instead of the fact that they are biased and yes, racist. Terrible that we really haven't come all that far since Lincoln freed the slaves. All that happens is that the nation shifts it's focus to a different group because they don't fit their mold.

let's see. we have a young girl raised by idiots in a priveledged environment. she gets herself knocked up by an idiot and brings a baby into a world where she has set herself up as nothing but tabloid fodder. and she's going to give the POTUS addvice on how to raise children and make policy decisions. perhaps nshe should just concentrate on trying to raise her own child in the ridiculous circus she and her family have created.

Geez, Liberals are just mean. I do not like the Palins but god having a daughter out of wedlock removes your ability to have an opinion. So ANY women that has had a child out of wedlock ceases to get to form their own opinions if they are out of lock-step with the left?

I guess Bristol missed that whole part of the Bible (Deuteronomy 22:13-21) that says if a woman loses her virginity before marriage she should be put to death by stoning. Of course, that would have actually involved reading the Bible, and as we can see she's far too busy passing judgment on issues she knows absolutely nothing about.

This is unbelievable. Has the media degenerated to the point where we'd start discussing what an illiterate kid thinks about the President just because she has a last name of Palin? Here we go, why don't we make her another superstar of the right wing. Ridiculous.

why and how is Bristol Palin handed the national stage for her opinion on anything? what's she done except deliver a child outside of a marriage or any kind of stable relationship?

For gods sake CNN. You people are pathetic. Who cares about this shit? This is almost as bad as when you consulted Mike Tyson about the Zimmerman case. She's not relevant to anything, and you know it, but unfortunately you continually sensationalize stories and throw out popular names to gain atttention, when you should really be doing something like...presenting the news. There are plenty of real stories, things that don't get heard by the common person because all they get to see is the morning news and read a site like this, but you instead present this useless piece of junk and continue to ruin American journalism.
