(CNN) - President Barack Obama's announcement that he now supports same-sex marriage reflects a dramatic shift taking place across the country.
Last year, for the first time, polls found a majority of Americans share that stance.
Good, daring president I am proud of.
Come on Josh Levs. We all change accordingly. What does surprise you that the president has changed his stand which he had 4 or 5 years ago. This proves that the president is thinking. He doesn't stick on what he said few years ago. He is changing according to time which goes by and what he considers is the right thing to do.
It's great to have an intelligent and thoughtful President who considers what Americans want and supports them.
Obama makes a speech “HOPE”, no real “CHANGE”, (except more Americans will vote Republican) but more cash is pouring in from the gay community.
No, what it signifies are three items:
1) Yes, obama would not have 'changed' his position if the polls had not said it was ok;
2) That obama will do anything to distract voters from failed domestic, foreign and domestic policies;
3) That obama is a true member of the Chicago political machine that runs on cynicism and thuggery. He says on national television that this 'evolution' had occurred months ago and he planned to announce it in 3 or 4 months. Do the gay marriage supporters in North Carolina fell warmer and fuzzier now?
The primary objective? To raise money and create a distraction. Of course he will give this the same devotion and effort as he did with the Immigration Reform he promised would be an immediate action item in his first term. With a filibuster proof Senate and a majority in the House obama did nothing.
So go ahead and worship and give money and obtain bliss through ignorance. Just know your grandchildren will be doing you know what on your grave for contributing to the downfall of America.
When Americans changed their mind from three or four years ago from a slight majority that were against equal rights to now a slight majority that support equal rights. So why is it so impossible that the President not be part of that same group – which is in the tens of thousands?
Why because some only care about their hate. The same people who hate for others to have equal rights.
"2) That obama will do anything to distract voters from failed domestic, foreign and domestic policies;"
What brain damage is this? JHis campaign has been rleasing commercials, statements, messaging, etc., on an almost daily (and at the very least weekly) basis making claims about what he considers his foreign policy and economic successes. You mentally deficient talking point parrots blathered endlessly about him "tooting his own horn" over killing bin Laden, and you cam eup with all sorts of crazy crap that signalled your recognition that it's a problems for you that he has that victory...everything from pretending it was Bush/Cheney who deserved all the credit to claiming it's just not a big a deal to trying to turn it into an insult to the Navy SEALS who participated in the mission. And for crying out loud...there are articles TODAY on this very Ticker that talks about a pro-Obama ad in which he touts his success with the auto industry AND about him tweaking Deputy Doublethink's nose in an interview this morning for him trying to Etch-A-Sketch himself into the saving of the auto industry. But that's ok...you guys will repeat anything so long as your chosen masters tell you it will be a good line to sell to people ni the attempt to oust Obama, "take the country back" and then sell it to corporate America and the ultra-rich at a bargain basement price.
"Do the gay marriage supporters in North Carolina fell warmer and fuzzier now?"
There was nothing he could do to stop that. Pretending otherwise in order to feign that conservatives/GOPers/Teatrolls empathize with the gay community and are outraged on their behalf is the epitome of cynicism and cynical political games.
"The primary objective? To raise money and create a distraction"
Your previous sentence admits that NC is the one who created the distraction this week, not Obama.
Gee, the GOBP should try this some time. Maybe someday soon we'll hear Mr. RNC PR BS step up to the mic and announce:
"Today our party has come to recognize that nearly three quarters of Americans want the millionaire tax we had previously opposed. Based on our plummeting popularity and approval numbers, it has become apparent that we have no choice but to the defer to the wishes of such a large majority. We apologize for being the last ones to realize that tax cuts for the wealthy do not create jobs or pay for themselves with increased tax revenue. We hope this sign of good faith will allow America to treat us as a valid political party again. Thank you and God bless America."
