Romney looks for advantage in North Carolina

Charlotte, North Carolina (CNN) – In North Carolina, not far from the site of this summer's Democratic convention, Mitt Romney made an appeal to swing state voters disillusioned with President Barack Obama.

"Right now we're finding people across the country that are experiencing some hard times and I think one of the reasons is because we have a president who's installed some of the old liberal policies from the past, and they didn't work then and they sure as heck aren't working now, and they'll not work in the future," Romney said at the Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company on Friday.

The Charlotte visit by the presumptive Republican presidential nominee comes after Tuesday's Democratic primary produced lagging results for the incumbent president. In a memo titled, "Obama's Disaster in North Carolina," the Republican National Committee laid out what they see as potential inroads for the GOP in November.

"On Tuesday, 21 percent (or 199,426 voters) of those who voted in the Democrat primary chose 'no preference' rather than voting for President Obama. This means more than one-fifth of the president's fellow Democrats chose Anyone-But-Obama on their ballots," RNC Political Director Rick Wiley said in the memo. "The president's unlucky number must be 14, since these nearly 200,000 voters are fourteen times greater than the president's own 2008 win margin of 14,000 votes."

Romney appeared to be directing his economic speech toward blue collar workers who may have helped Obama win the red state in 2008.

"One of the other ideas of the past, and you keep hearing the president talk about this, is that we don't have much energy left. He says that we only have 2% of the world's oil reserves, and you listen to him and you think somehow we're running on empty," said Romney, who added the United States is "energy rich" because of new drilling technology.

The businessman and former governor of Massachusetts also pledged to stand up for Right to Work legislation as president.

"I don't think it's fair for people who are working in a union to have money taken out of their pay check and have that money go into a political action committee where they don't get to choose which candidate gets it. Instead the union boss gets to take their money and give it to the person of his or her choice," he said.

Democrats REALLY screwed up in putting their convention in NC, especiallly with Obama coming out of the closet as our first gay socialist President. They'll be losing the state FOR SURE in November ad will probably see some demonstrations out side the leftist Democrat Party convention.

As usual, still bashing President Obama, still no anwers of his own. Guess he's waiting to see what else is
successful, like the auto business, so he can take credit for that too.

Old "liberal" policies, such as enacting the GOP healthcare plan? Oh wait...Romneycare

Romney is transparently using Karl Rovian projection again, since Mitt is the one who wants to go backwards to the same failed Bush policies of tax cuts for the rich that do not work.

Good. I mean, if the gay community has the stones to come out and publicly defend itself, then hateful, fundemantlist bigots should have the stones to publicly out themselves as hateful, fundamentalist bigots who don't believe in the separation of church and state or that equal protection applies to groups they think are "sinners" or "icky." I am all for them identifying themselves instead of hiding behind their bibles and under the pews. If you've got hate in your heart, say it loud and say it proud. We need to be able to identify you and know what you're thinking in order to fight your bigotry.

Here we go again with all the democrats calling anyone who has a problem with Obama Bigots again. Out of all the things they could say about Romney here like he is always there to criticize Obama yet he has not offered any solutions to the contrary, the neolibs want to keep calling republicans and disenfranchised democrats biggots. Newsflash neolibs, Obama has been one of the worst presidents in history with the biggest mob of finger pointing, blame calling, racist cry babies our country has ever seen standing mindlessly behind him. YES you can totally be black and be a complete racist. Many of the comments posted here prove it every day.

Let's reduce the excerpts above to what he just appears to have said:

"Young people are suffering in this country because Obama is pushing innnovative green energy technology and recognizes the scientifically proven need to begin developing new and alternative fuel sources. Young people are suffering because we're not focused on expanding old industries and giving them the opportunity to die at age 50 from black lung."

Guess what...Deputy Doublethink is almost right. Recognizing the need to adapt IS an "old idea from the past." It's what every single species alive today did in order to evolve and survive until the present. Failure to do so will result in our termination.

Yeah Romney, the Liberal polices didn’t work.. Try comparing Clinton’s Economy with Bush’s sometime and ask ANYONE if they prefer what Bush and your Republican Trickle-down did for us all !

Romney wants to take us all back to the same dysfunctional -Tax breaks for the rich,do away with ANY regulation, and destroy the Middle Class in the process as they have already almost done.

And if they actually had somebody to vote for like the convicted felon in WV then Obama might have lost the primary. Yeah, Obama is looking pretty strong in the south all right. Which is probably why he always sends Crazy Joe down south while he works the Hollywood celebrity circuit.

Some of the mindless, obviously blindly hateful comments comming from the right-wingnut crowd are really something else. Two things you know if someone calls the President a socialist – first, they don't know what a socialist is and second, they are a few cards short of a full deck. The angry, mindless comments that are obviously designed to try to upset people that disagree with them really serve to discredit the opposition to the President – showing just how thoughless and hateful much of his opposition is. For that we should be thankful and hope they keep posting away, making the Obama supporters look good in comparison.

The party that wrecked the economy is trying to tell you that the only way to fix the economy is to do more of what wrecked it in the first place. I'm actually serious. The Ryan budget, which Romney must support to keep the TP's on board, is just the W budget taken to extremes. If you believe for a second that this is the way to restore our economy, I have some surplus Iraqi WMD's I'll sell you cheap!

I thnk there are people still experiencing hard times because Republicans have focused on:abortion, birth control, gun laws, tax cuts for the rich and the "protection" of marriage instead of jobs like they said. Face it, when it comes to the American people, the GOP just took a four-year vacation.

BEND–Obama's win in NC in 2008 was just icing on the cake to his rout of McCain/Alaska Trailor Trash. He does not need this state to win again although if he does, Flippy and his handlers will be toast.
