(CNN) - Mitt Romney's support among registered voters who are women has grown and is slightly above President Barack Obama's, according to a poll released Monday.
The CBS News/New York Times poll shows Obama's support among female voters dropping five points over the last two months, from 49% to 44%. Romney is up 3 from 43% to 46% within that coveted demographic, according to the survey. The margin is still within the survey's sampling error, however.

Prior polling, including a mid-April CNN/ORC International poll, showed Obama ahead among women, with the CNN survey giving the president a 16-point advantage. That survey took place in the wake of a Democratic strategist and CNN contributor saying Romney's wife had "never worked a day in her life."
Monday's numbers fall within the survey's sampling error of plus or minus four percentage points.
Respondents were also skeptical of Obama's recent announcement that he supports same-sex marriage. A majority - 67% - said they believe the president made the announcement because of "political reasons," with 86% of Republicans and 70% of independents holding that view. Among Democrats, 48% believed he was motivated by "what is right" and 42% cited politics.
Only 8% of Republicans, 20% of independents and 24% of respondents overall believed Obama was motivated by doing "what is right."
The survey showed 42% of respondents believed same-sex marriages should be legal, and 51% said they should not.
The telephone poll was conducted between May 11 and 13 and included 615 adults, 562 of them registered voters.

I came from africa , i never expected this kind situation here in america , the leader , in everything . Now i get to the point that no onebody is better than anybody . Shame on u americans and stop blaming the third world countries , even america is a polarized third country .
Thats because marriage is more important to women and obama diminished the meaning of marriage.
This poll shows the divide , What mother would want her son or daughter going to war.
Mitt Romney , five sons all avoided military service.
They polled 615 adults, 562 of them registered voters. That's some awfully poor sampling, and we all know women aren't going to vote for Romney. But I guess it'll give the right wingers some false hope.
Obama's been pandering to every group out there. Women are smart enough to know when being patronized. It's still about the economy!!
Clearly, marriage is not between President Obama and the American people.
I thought something is wrong here, then I noticed this was a telephone survey which is now notoriously unreliable as many people only use cellphones. I don't buy the 2% margin of error. Also, I would like to see how the questions were phrased. While I do find Obama reluctant to take stands ahead of the crowd, when he does so he jumps in with both feet. Let's hope his policy toward Wall Street changes with this new revelation from J.P. Morgan and the Justice Department starts prosecuting these criminals.
Don't fall for the devil's trick America, we are not to be controlled by these puppet masters. The news media along with the political process is trying to hype the candidates up as if the election is as simple as a sporting event. 1 for this side and 2 for the other side, 3 for this side and still 2 for the other side. How quickly minds changes from one hour to the next. Stand your ground America. todays candidate is that same candidate from yesterday and will be still the same tomorrow. Romney will always be Romney (core-less, fake and forever trying to Etch-A-Sketch his way out and in) Obama will always be progressive favoring and implementing social reform promoting new liberal ideas establishing a relatively progressive government favoring and promoting change through innovation.
People are seeing through Obama's BS.
Polls; keep dreaming, when the Romney debates Obama and brings up the Obama agenda and the Democrats record in Congress since 2007 it’s over; polls don’t even matter. American voters are tired of the media propping up, covering up for Obama and can’t wait to show up and vote him out. The Democrats / liberals didn’t see the 2010 Republican landslide win coming and Democrats / liberals don’t see the 2012 landslide Republican win coming.
It's funny how the Obama campaign is practicing Political terorism by trying to destroy the business of a ROMNEY supporter but no mention of that. Also this story is hidden in the back alley of cnn.com cause it doesn't fit your narrative of Romney loosing women. Fake 'WAR ON WOMEN' all Geobbel like propaganda on your part. Shame on cnn we use to trust you until you became a propaganda arm on the Obama campaign.
GOP is against planned parenthood! Do these ladies know?
"I wasn't asked"
"They only call land lines"
"They only called Republicans"
Got any new ones to explain this, libs? Not jut the women numbers, but the rest of the questions as well, spell disaster for Obama. America might just be waking up.
Polls are nice, aren't they? But otherwise useless.
Your vote in November is the ONLY poll that counts.
Obama 2012. If you're serious about America.
All of these polls have gotten really absurd. 615 people? That's hardly a reasonable number, considering the millions of people in our country. Then CNN prints the results, like they really represent how the people of this country feel. Give me a break.
