Washington (CNN) - The House of Representatives passed the Republican version of the Violence Against Women Act on Wednesday, despite strong opposition from Democrats.
The GOP version, passed 225-205, offers a stark contrast from the bill passed by the Senate in late April, which will lead to further political fighting as both chambers attempt to work out a compromise over the law's reauthorization.
"Believe it or not, human beings are capable of living and thriving WITHOUT daily intervention and money from the government."
Not if you ask "Julia". She gets the government dennies from cradle to grave.
Ms Bolduan, watch those value judgments. Always a good idea to leave adjectives out of the text, e.g. "harsh". Better watch those verbs, too: "accusing" has a corollary adverb, which is "unfairly". And let's wait and see before we speculate about a "war on women" being a harder sell because House Republicans have oh-so-boldly come out against violence perpetrated on women. Currently, Obama has a double-digit lead on Romney with women voters.
This tactic will not work. Adams voted down party lines to take away vital healthcare from women & children. A sheep in wolf's clothing...
In my book, violence against "anyone" – no matter their lifestyle – ought not to be condoned. Period.
Good. Then we agree. The Republican bill should be passed.
Common sense – 'ARE WE STILL COMPLAINING ABOUT NON EXISTENCE WOMEN VIOLENCE IN AMERICA!'?
Change your pen name dude, just... change it.
PS: Yes, the situation in Africa (and Asia) is MUCH MORE worst than in America, and you wanna know one of the reasons? The govt. in all those countries does NOT address this (violence against women) as an issue worth of mention and discussion and the likes and, if it does in this or that country it is only for photo-ops and not for keeps...
"The messenger may be different, but the party's stance is still the same."
Yep: "wide stance."
GROVER NORQUIST IS A ENEMY OF THE STATE/ConservaFASCISTS
I bet you're against contraception and the morning after pill. Why should people have to have children they don't want? I'm not having kids so some war mongering republican President can send them off to an unprovoked war. Have all the kids you want and have them serve in the military.
Contraceptives are fine and highly available which isw why abortion should not be allowed as a form of birth control. Because somebody is lazy or loose doesn't mean they have the right to kill a baby. They can put the baby up for adoption. There are many people that would love to adopt the baby.
And you really have overdosed on the koolaide if you're not having kids for your stated reason. Our military has been an all volunteer force for many many years. It must be very dark in your cave.
"Why should people have to have children they don't want?"
Why leave it at children then? Why should society have to have ANYONE they don't want? Guess that the uterus is an impenetrable shield from the guarantees to the constitution in your book, huh?
Well I guess those GOP women in the Senate (who ALL approved the version including immigrants, gays, transgenders, etc) are just plain un-american and RINO's. No self-respecting GOP congresswomen would dare include "those people" in any kind of legislation unless it marginalizes them and puts them out as evil and bad for "real Amurkins" Sorry, but this new messanger does not fix the problem you have within your own party. The more sensible Senate approved it. The radical T-B House does not. Fix it and then start going after Obama. Until then, you are doing nothing but helping Obama in this issue
"Not if you ask "Julia". She gets the government dennies from cradle to grave."
So do you. We all do whether yuo want to admit it or not. Now, back in your bubble...you wouldn't want to catch any of those contagious facts floating around.
"And you really have overdosed on the koolaide if you're not having kids for your stated reason. Our military has been an all volunteer force for many many years. It must be very dark in your cave."
Call a mechanic. You need your sarcasm-o-meter fixed.
Violence against women has risen during Obama's watch!
Due to his extreme lack of leadership during the last three years of economic stagnation, a major contributing factor in the increase of domestic violence.., HELLO!
Whomever this lady is, she need to be ashame of herself for letting those guys use her like that. "Shame"
PaulCat – Whomever this lady is, she need to be ashame of herself for letting those guys use her like that. "Shame"
Here we go.... leftists think only they can validly speak to womans issues. Pretty pathetic.
The real War on Women is the same war as the war on the rest of America – the failure of this administration to do anything to better the job market and keep jobs here in America, the failure of this administration to control rising energy prices, and the failure of this administration to do anything to keep the housing prices remotely stable.
Everything this administration has done – intentional or unintentional – has weakened the job market, weakened our ability to compete using domestic energy sources, and subsequently weakened to housing market to a point where home ownership is at its lowest point in decades.
This hurts women ENTIRELY MORE than their having to pay for contraception. It hurts women, it hurts the gay community, it hurts the minorities. It hurts everyone.
Time to go, Mr. President. For the sake of everybody.
This is still the party who would like to defund Planned Parenthood and make abortions almost impossible to get. Remember folks these are the same people who want to give you a trans vaginal ultrasound just to check if you are pregnant, even though a stick test in urine will confirm the same thing.
"Good. Then we agree. The Republican bill should be passed."
No, Four. We do not agree. Not until "those other people" are legally definded and included.
