Biden: Convict won 'frustrated, angry' votes

(CNN) – Frustration with the economy led to an incarcerated man winning 40% of votes in the West Virginia Democratic primary earlier this month, Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday.

In an interview with WTOV, Biden said he doesn't "blame people, they're frustrated, they're angry."

"When you're out of work, man, it's a depression," Biden told the CNN Ohio affiliate. "And a lot of people are still hurt because of this Godawful recession we inherited that cost 8.4 million jobs before we could really get going."

The vice president was speaking in Martins Ferry, Ohio, on Thursday, touting the improving auto industry and relating his own middle-class background to experience of many in this battleground state.

But while voters may be frustrated now, Biden said he believes voters will decide he and President Barack Obama are better suited for the White House than GOP candidate Mitt Romney.

"They're going to decide, is the way back to their employment, is the way back to them being able to have a job and raise a family - is it under the values set and the ideas of Romney, or is it under ours?" he said. "And we feel confident we'll do just fine."

Keith Judd, inmate #11593-051, is serving a 210-month sentence in a Texas jail for extortion. He met all the parameters for getting on the West Virginia ballot and received 73, 138 votes to Obama's 106,770 in the primary held on May 8.

I thought they clung to their guns and Bibles when they were angry. This is a new spin voting for a convicted felon!

"Wrong answer, Joe. The incarcerated man won because he is the lesser of the evils." – DC

The incarcerated man didn't win if he got 40% between two candidates. Obama still won, just with 60% not the 100% he's getting in other states.

Biden just doesn't get it. WV is a state owned and operated by coal companies. Obama/Biden want to do away with coal. How would you feel if the government was out to shut down your livelyhood?

biden totally missed the point. the point is that we, the citizens of america, have more trust in a prison inmate than we do the obama administration.

I think that the people were saying "this guy is less of a criminal than the current occupant of the white house." Does Joe Biden have no shame whatsoever. He makes a blatant fool of himself every day. He has brought back the "court jester." Why is he not embarrassed? He is more of a joke than Al Gore was.

What Biden wanted to say, but couldn't, is that these folks in WV are prejudice, ignorant, and misinformed on REAL LIFE. I've been there and have seen it first hand. No matter what you think of the President...the mere fact that folks would actually VOTE for an *****INMATE**** says it all...

If you are in prison on voting day, or in jail you forfeit your right to vote for your actions, That is the way it should be. Commit a crime against your fellow Americans and you have no say, no vote plain and simple. Make this the norm and the TEA PARTY would not stand a chance on voting day. Over half of them are in prison or jail at any given time on domestic abuse, hate crimes or firearms violations. The rich REPUBLICANS on the other hand should have a different set of rules since they only commit white collar crimes and in 98% of the cases steal more on average than your typical bank robber and 9 time out of 10 they walk and keep the money. So because of that the REPUBLICANS should just pay more in taxes .

DC , you know the GOP has a fondness for electing felons or potential felons. Its there way of relating to the two million common men incarcerated in America.

Brought to you by the Tea Party behind bars ,

I love nothing more then the irony of people broadly painting all of the people of WVA as bigots. Pot-kettle-black.

Old delusional Joe. WV is angry because Obama and his ultra leftist liberal cronies crippled the coal industry with regulations. Thousands upon thousands of people out of work. The vote by the democrats in WV was meant to be a clear message to Obama and Biden. What did Obama give America in compensation for the almost complete restriction of one of our major natural resources? Solyndra. If Obama replaced your careers with a scam you would be angry too. Own up to it Joe. The whole blame everything on Bush routine is getting old.

The reason the guy won was because he was NOT Barack Hussein Obama. This reminds me of the case of Alvin Green in South Carolina. Only in the Democratic primary could people like this win votes. What a party of losers, misfits, and criminals.

Biden said he doesn't "blame people, they're frustrated, they're angry." ~~ Angry BECAUSE OF YOU TWO.

Biden said he believes voters will decide he and President Barack Obama are better suited for the White House than GOP candidate Mitt Romney. ~~ Check your stats and see if you do. You don't!

"They're going to decide, is the way back to their employment, is the way back to them being able to have a job and raise a family – is it under the values set and the ideas of Romney, or is it under ours?" he said. ~~ "And we feel confident ObBiden won't do just fine."

Come on. This is all showmanship. Biden, the little lap dog that he is, is just doing what he is told. He talks stupid, acts stupid, because it takes the heat off of Obama. This is all an act. Some points will hit more than others but they are all thought out beforehand, i.e. gay marriage. Joe purposely took the fall so the President could test the waters. This garabage is for the liberal press to pound into the ground over and over. That way obama continues not to have to answer tough questions, it's called deflection and Joe, Joe is playing it well. Ignore this mook.
