Making the call: Romney dials up 43

(CNN) - Likely GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney called former President George W. Bush to thank him for his support, two sources told CNN.

On Tuesday, Bush made headlines when he gave an off-the-cuff endorsement for the former Massachusetts governor, telling an ABC News reporter "I'm for Mitt Romney," as the doors of an elevator he was on closed before him.

Bush was in Washington, D.C. at the time to make a rare public appearance at a ceremony for dissidents.

The remark was the first public support from the former president, whose father, former President George H.W. Bush and mother, Barbara, endorsed the presumptive GOP nominee in March.

Romney's campaign responded later in the day, saying they "welcomed" the nod.

"We welcome the president's support, as we welcomed his father's," spokeswoman Andrea Saul said.

Romney, however, rarely refers to the 43rd president by name in speeches, often using the word "predecessor" instead.

Bush's younger brother, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, also endorsed Romney in March.

This is no surprise. Romney is basically just a less s tupid version of Bush.

Willard called him up and asked him "Whyyyy? Why did you have to endorse me? Do you know the damage you're going to do to my campaign?" I imagine the call went something like that. Think about it folks. Why didn't "43" endorse Willard along with the rest of Prescott's spawns? Things that make you go hmmmmmm.

He is afraid to mention George W. Bush because he is a tainted man. Bush didn't understand the economy beyond the limited ideology that someone told him to believe. The problem is that Romney isn't much better from what I can see.

It was the proper thing for Romney to do because nobody else is thanking Bush for a GD thing. As Santorum said "sometimes you have to give one for the Team".

Atta girl, Willard! Call the predecessor up and thank him for his warm and fuzzy endorsement. Make sure to thank him also for inspiring you on economic policies you plan to put forth. I mean, after all, W’s economic policies were so “marvelous,” they created the Great Depression 2.0! On your watch, Willard, will we get 3.0? Hey, while you have W on the line, get his advice on how to attack a sovereign nation under the LIE of WMD. Atta Girl, Willard! You can do it. I know W is pretty toxic, but then again so are you, Willard!

How could an endorsement from the very man who nearly destroyed our country help anybody? The war "W" started to impress his daddy cost us over 4.500 Service-member's lives and over 40,000 seriously wounded. Bush's dishonest intelligence data started that war and those lives are on his head. Who would want this criminal's endorsement?

One empty suit thanking another empty suit. Willard is thanking W for allowing him to use the same people that steered the "swiftboat" of destruction down the river of lies and deceit. Neocons are back in charge because MItt doesn't
have a single independent idea of what to do about anything. Therefore, just repeat the past and see how far down
we can go, while we stuff our off-shore bank accounts.

GWB and Mittens......two peas in a pod......not the brightest bulb on the tree......both rich guys who, as Biden says, "Just don't get it!" If Bush were really supporting Mittens he'd have done it in a more prominent way....and how would Mittens even talk to World Leaders if he won't talk to the press? What ideas does he have for foreign policy.....more neocon talk, war that is unpaid for and unwarranted??????

Always nice to have a reminder of the ‘Decider’ that inherited a budget surplus and then squandered it on unfunded wars, tax cuts and a prescription drug program. He also brought us TARP, torture, spying on Americans and ignored the warnings that led to the 09/11 attack. Republicans had a major opportunity to win over independents in this election by just admitting that the policies of the Bush/Chaney administration were failures and that they nearly destroyed our economy. Instead they appear to be doubling-down with the hope that Americans have a short memory and/or don’t want to acknowledge who caused the debacle in the first place.

I just had to laugh when I saw President Bush gave his endorsement to Romney as the elevator door was it was an afterthought. Not as bad as Santorum did but not a ringing one if you ask me.
