Romney to address Latino business summit

(CNN) - Mitt Romney will address a gathering of Latino small business owners next week, furthering his bid to attract voters in a bloc that will prove essential to winning the White House in November.

Romney will speak at the Latino Coalition's Annual Economic Summit in Washington, the group said Friday. Romney's campaign also confirmed the likely GOP nominee would appear at the event.

"Governor Romney's record as a successful business leader, CEO of the organizing committee for the Winter Olympics held in Salt Lake City, and elected official is replete with cases where he served as an effective advocate for American small businesses," Hector Barreto, The Latino Coalition's chairman, said in a statement. "During his time in government, he proved himself to be a strong advocate for eliminating the red tape that can strangle businesses, a quality that is all the more critical today."

Earlier Friday, Romney's campaign released a Spanish-language version of their first general election ad, which highlights measures Romney would take on his first day as president.

The Hispanic population in the United States has long swung Democratic, most recently supporting Obama and Joe Biden in 2008 by a margin of more than two-to-one over the Republican ticket of John McCain and Sarah Palin, 67% to 31%.

However, that is a disparity the Republican Party hopes to combat through their renewed efforts and by pointing to the president's first term in office, most notably the inability to pass immigration reform.

Despite backing from the White House, in 2009 the DREAM Act, which would have provided U.S. residency for immigrant children with high school diplomas, failed in Congress.

In the Republican presidential primary, Romney came under fire for promoting a plan of "self deportation" for illegal immigrants, a policy that involves making economic conditions so difficult for undocumented workers that they choose to leave the country to find better opportunities.

CNN's Jim Acosta and Gabriella Schwarz contributed to this report.

Oh, lookie--Bishop Romney go on pandering and lying to Latinos campaign. Will you tell them that under your scorched earth policies that Latinos will have no other choice but to self deport regardless if they are second or third generation Americans? Will you tell them that your plan for reducing Latino unemployment rates will consist of gardening, car elevator operator, nannies, and low paying Staple’s jobs?

You are such a lying, pandering, used car salesman, Willard!

What's Mitt going to say in his speech to get the Hispanic vote? Tacos, mmm, muy sabroso, now vote for me? As the wife of and Mom of Hispanics, the GOP disappoints me with their treatment of Hispanics. As an American, they disgust me with their treatment of fellow Americans who just happen to have a tan. Pendejos! Some of "them" are from here and their families go back several generations. They don't all look like Cameron Diaz.

When Supreme Court Justice Sotomeyer was appointed by President Obama the Republicans attempted to disqualify her using the excuse she wasn't qualified and the real reason was because she's Hispanic. In fact, she is over qualified.

The usual lying liberal with misinformation. I would simply ask anybody that wants to know how the left lies to look up Romney's job performance in Mass. while he was governor using Google. Unemployment was below 5% most of the time (4.7%) so there was a labor shortage, NOT a job shortage.

And Romney created more jobs in Mass. alone thaan Obama has created in the entire United States in 4 years. Obama will be the first president in history to see a negative net jobs in his 4 years. Yes, another first from the worst.

I'm sure Mitt has plans for the Hispanic population in terms of job growth. Gardeners, field hands, fighting in Iran (instead of his kids)... Maybe some could be surrogate moms for his grandkids!

So Romney is going their to court the hispanic vote and then deny them access to vote? Well that is some great whacko libtard logic. Didn't you read the Ticker story on how Obama got record black turnout in NC in 2008 and registered a bunch of new black voters? Yeah, just tons of that there "suppression" going on. Honestly, the lies the left post in here daily are amazing. Scary part is they believe them.

"And Romney created more jobs in Mass. alone thaan Obama has created in the entire United States in 4 years"

That is blatantly incorrect. The numbers don't lie:

Romney took office during an economic growth period and the figures show that there were 3,224,600 jobs when he took office. There were 3,270,400 when he left. That’s 45,800 jobs added.

Obama took office during an economic tailspin during which the nation was bleeding jobs at a rate of 750K+/- per month. Since hitting bottom in February 2010, we've added well over 3 MILLION jobs.

These are facts. Yuo can fume and cry and go into a poutrage denial tantrum, but it doesn't change them.

"So Romney is going their to court the hispanic vote and then deny them access to vote?"

Please. He's courting a very specific segment of that voting bloc. The Latino Coalition has close ties to the Chamber of Commerce, a perennial conservative donor and consistent GOP backer. It's primilary a conservative organization and no, they don't represent the views of the vast majority of Latinos. They want tax cuts for their business interests and Mittens is showing up to essentially ask them "well, what'll you give me for them?"

Romney loves Latinos. He wouldn't trust anybody else to clean his pools, make his beds, and wash all of his cars. Besides it's so hard to get a regular white guy to work for those low wages.

Hillary Clinton is a liar, a fraud, and does not stand by her beliefs. She stated on several occaisons in the '08 primaries that Obama was not fit to be president (and she was correct, BTW). Now she's his secretary of state. No principles.

    There. All better.

IF he was such a great governor why did the following happen: talk about brainwashed.

Romney spent $3 million of his own money in the race against Kennedy. In the November general election, despite a disastrous showing for Democrats overall, Kennedy won the election with 58 percent of the vote to Romney's 41 percent.
