Pro-Obama super PAC fund-raising lags behind rival

(CNN) - The super PAC supporting President Barack Obama's re-election reported raising just under $1.6 million in April, well below the amount raised by the group supporting Obama's rival Mitt Romney.

Priorities USA Action also reported having $4.7 million cash on hand at the end of April, slightly more than half of the amount in Restore Our Future's war chest. Restore Our Future is supporting Romney's bid for the White House. Both groups recently filed April fund-raising numbers with the Federal Election Commission.

Labor groups donated big to the pro-Obama group in April. The largest contribution came from the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, which gave the organization $1 million. Other groups putting money into Priorities included the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices, a group affiliated with the plumbing industry, and the National Association of Social Workers.

In total, Priorities spent about $1.9 million in April, about a million dollars less than Restore Our Future spent last month.

In February, the president's re-election campaign announced it would urge donors to contribute to Priorities USA. The move represented a reversal of Obama's position on the third-party spending giants, which were made increasingly possible by the 2010 U.S. Supreme Court ruling on the Citizens United case.

– CNN's Ashley Killough contributed to this report.

    OH NO!!!! His super PAC is not making as much as Flippy!! The Earth is about to implode!!! Who cares??? If it was the other way around I would say the same thing. Both are drowning in $ and there is no financial issue.

    Is this suppose to be a surprise to anyone, thanks to the conservative leaning SCOTUS? Remember, folks, "corporations are human". Enjoy the fact that all these millions are being donating by secrecy. All Romney has going for him is money. If our middle class decides that what we need in a leader, we deserve him. Personally, the man makes me sick with his phony pandering BS.

    Who cares? This perversion of our democracy is reprehensable and the SCOTUS should be ashamed of themselves. If the stakes weren't so high, I'd like everyone to stay home on election day and not vote just to send the SCOTUS a message that you can't buy our elections. Keep money out of politics!!!

Expect, those rich folks don't want to pay a little more taxes nor being force to take the trillions they've got on the worldliness and invest it in America, not when they've got the repubs to protect their wealthj. If Obama's lies and distortions are allowed to go unchallenged every day by the LSM, why shouldn't others be allowed to disseminate the truth to the people? Let's face it, the free flow of information is the LAST thing leftists want. That only only their fallicies and propaganda can infect the minds of voters.

    Mittens picked up Sheldon Adelson, Gingrich's sugardaddy, that's all. The PEOPLE will decide this election, not the fat-cats.

    That said, don't be complacent. President Obama, along with House and Senate Democrats need our support now more than ever, given how much effort the GOP has put into voter suppression.

    Get out and VOTE this November for President Obama!

    Okay, so Democrats are richer than Republicans which makes sense since Democrats are better educated and have more college degrees than Republicans thus Democrats getting the better paying jobs. Why then are Democrats so jealous and petty of Republicans who are obviously the lesser, the underdog, poorer and less educated and have less people to vote for Romney? Democrats by far are the bigger group, more powerful and can pretty much guarantee Obama winning a 2nd term to the White House.

    The Citizens United decision by the right wing activist Roberts Court was a stab in the back to the electoral democratic process. It is a step toward a corporate-led fascist state- nothing less. Karl Rove is laughing up his sleeve and all the way to the bank.

    @king – why are those rich folks that don't want to pay taxes and have trillions upsetting you when they are Democrats like yourself? Look at Mark Zuckerberg, his richer than anyone and obviously he loves Obama which leads me to believe he is a Democrat and will support Obama.

    Obama is going to outraise the GOP and Romney this time again so it really doesn't matter. Obama has all the union thugs grifting members monthly paychecks so they will always raise more money. Obama aslo intimidates large individual donors to GOP PACs which has been all over the WSJ and other papers. He and Putin have the same stronng are tactics. Its scary in America today you cannot support a candidate without being targets by the President leg breakers.

    The WSJ lost all credibility when Murdoch bought and made it into a print version of Fakes News. Do you have any credible sources for your remarkable claim?

The President is going around the world apologizing for America? Negative. The ACA will drive up the deficit? Negative. Everyone knows who distorts the truth and blatanly lies. You mean the Middle Class folks don't have the same amounts of Disposable Income to participate in American Democracy as the Wealthy( I mean Job Creators) ? Oh, so that's why the Repubs. loved the "Citizens United" decision. And I thought it was because they believed in equal access by all in the political process, including CORPORATIONS.

    4 years later, a TRILLION dollars down the tiolet, and the only reason unemployment is dropping is because millions are dropping out of the workforce. Unemployment over 8% for a record length of time. This is your definition of "success"?!

    The President is going around the world apologizing for America? Negative.
    ======================================================
    He did several times when he first got elected but stopped it because of all the bad press. He probably now does it in private.

    The ACA will drive up the deficit? Negative.
    ================================
    The cost has doubled and will go up even more according to the CBO. Argue with them. The "cost saving" measures were deemed unfeasible and stopped by the Obama adminstration. Healthcare costs have continued to climb, and more than they were. What fantasy world are you living in?
