Obama campaign: Booker spoke with DNC

Washington (CNN) – As it turns out, Newark, New Jersey Mayor Cory Booker did talk with an official at the Democratic National Committee following his off-message appearance on NBC's "Meet the Press," an Obama campaign spokesman confirmed Tuesday.

Ben LaBolt, a spokesman for the president's re-election team, told CNN in an interview on Monday that Booker was never pressured by the Obama campaign to record a YouTube video clarifying his remarks on the Sunday talk show.

During his appearance on "Meet the Press," the Obama supporter described attacks on Mitt Romney's tenure at the private investment firm Bain Capital as "nauseating." Booker also seemed to equate the Bain criticism with a recent effort by conservative operatives to dredge up stories about the president's former pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Hours later on Sunday, Booker recorded a web video that questioned Romney's record at the company.

"We did not ask him to do so. We did not," LaBolt told CNN's Brooke Baldwin on Monday when asked whether the Obama campaign had called on Booker to clean up his comments. "He released that video of his own volition."

In a statement released by LaBolt Tuesday, he again insisted that Booker was not asked to release the video. But LaBolt did reveal Booker had a conversation with an unnamed DNC official.

"As Mayor Booker has said, the campaign did not reach out and ask him to record a video. Campaign officials also had not reached out directly to Mayor Booker yesterday, but he spoke with a DNC official who also did not ask him to record a video," LaBolt said.

He declined to specify what exactly that DNC official said to Booker during the conversation.

The statement from LaBolt was first reported in Politico.

However, LaBolt's statement is somewhat at odds with what Booker told MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Monday night. During the interview, Booker said he had "conversations" with the Obama campaign.

"They've done nothing but encourage me and in this case in particular, I certainly did talk with campaign officials. But they didn't force me to do anything. They had good conversations with me," Booker told MSNBC.

Republicans should give Newt, Santorum, Hunstman, Bachmann, and Perry, credit for exposing Mittens for the fraud he is.

What about Obama and his corrupt buddies giving billions of taxpayer dollars to companies like Solyndra. The Democrats can't have it both ways. If they want to run on the economy Obama will lose!

Booker is naive. He denounced the economic perspective of the democrats. Now, he is being used by the republicans. The bright lights of Meet the Press paralyzed his thinking. Poor fellow. He may never shed the image of trying to make everyone happy, and ending up compromising his convictions, and the principles he was called to articulate.

That was Booker's true opinion, the fact that he retracted his comment does not change the point that that was his immediate true opinion and retracting only shows someone at the DNC picked on him.

"What about Obama and his corrupt buddies giving billions of taxpayer dollars to companies like Solyndra"

You really want to open that can of worms? Solyndra was the exception, not the rule. They are doing overwhelmingly well. Moreover, the gov't gave companies Bain was involved with under Mittens, like Dynamic Steel, all kinds of money and Mittens is running around taking credit for those companies having some success whle ignoring the ones he pillaged....so it's 100% dishonest for the GOP/Teatrolls to criticize the government subsidizing companies as though it is always a bad thing as a rule. Mittens "saved the Olympics" with tons and tons of federal government money too, but you'll never hear him talk honestly about that part of it either. The GOP/Teatrolls' high horse is more like a rocking horse.

Whether it was DNC or the White House called Booker, they had the right to do so. The man pretended to ride two horses at the same time.

The Mayor is a good sensible and fair person. His perspective was perceived a betrayl. that is read into too much. investment fund is there to maximize profit, that is a given definition, profit is not a bad thing except when the company strive for profit at ALL COST – FIRING PEOPLE. THAT IS VERY BAD. ROMNEY IS A POSTER CHILD OF THIS BAD PRACTICE. That is the record, that is the fact, that is the mentality known to America – Romney said it hiE, mself: I like to FIRE PEOPLE. THEY DON'T LISTEN TO ME, I LIKE TO TO FIRE THEM. words from the horse mouth

Come on opportunist Booker – how much money did Bain Cap give you for your 2002 election
    campaign?

You cannot play both sides and win – although you have so far succeeded. Success with deception
lasts for a very limited amount of time.

Oh lok at Cory run back onto the Democrat plantation and start spouting the party lies!! It's a full blown MIRACLE I tell ya!
