(CNN) - Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett wrote in a statement Wednesday his office had received the necessary information about President Barack Obama's birth certificate to put the matter to rest.
"Late yesterday, our office received the 'verification in-lieu of certified copy' from officials within the Hawaii Department of Health that we requested in March," Bennett wrote. "They have officially confirmed that the information in the copy of the Certificate of Live Birth for the President matches the original record in their files."

Bennett said last week that he may refuse to put the president on the ballot in November unless the state of Hawaii authenticated Obama's birth certificate, the long form of which the White House released in April 2011.

Bennett, a co-chairman of likely GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's Arizona campaign, said he was only doing so at the request of his constituents.
"As Arizona's chief elections officer, I have the responsibility to certify the ballot to the state's 15 counties," Bennett wrote in Wednesday's statement. "At the request of numerous constituents, I merely asked Hawaiian officials to verify the information contained within President Obama's original birth certificate. They have complied with the request and I consider the matter closed."

After receiving 12,000 e-mails from birthers, Bennett jumped right in and threatened to keep our president off the AZ ballot. After receiving 15,000 e-mails questioning if Mittens was a unicorn the matter gets dropped. Hopefully Bennett realized how stupid he is.

Sometimes, I really wish Willard would win and ALL of the bigots out there in return would get exactly what they wished for – then I remember not everyone is ignorant or thinks in this regard. I have been in AZ for 32 years and the Republican party is afraid of change. The state is made up of 40% independent,30% Democratic and 30% Republican. The Republican party is actually declining slightly, possibly allowing the state to turn blue in the fall.

...........and some white people want to know why blacks are so touchy and sensitive. It is because there are still lots of bigots out there who continue to try and deligitamize black people in general, let alone blacks who are in prominent positions. There is not another instance in history that anyone can point to where a POTUS has been asked to prove his citizenship and prove who he is. It is shameful and just further proof that blacks are not paranoid when it comes to race, bigotry is still ALIVE! Everyday it is a struggle to be black in America.
This issue will never go away.
