(CNN) - Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett wrote in a statement Wednesday his office had received the necessary information about President Barack Obama's birth certificate to put the matter to rest.
"Late yesterday, our office received the 'verification in-lieu of certified copy' from officials within the Hawaii Department of Health that we requested in March," Bennett wrote. "They have officially confirmed that the information in the copy of the Certificate of Live Birth for the President matches the original record in their files."

Bennett said last week that he may refuse to put the president on the ballot in November unless the state of Hawaii authenticated Obama's birth certificate, the long form of which the White House released in April 2011.

Bennett, a co-chairman of likely GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's Arizona campaign, said he was only doing so at the request of his constituents.
"As Arizona's chief elections officer, I have the responsibility to certify the ballot to the state's 15 counties," Bennett wrote in Wednesday's statement. "At the request of numerous constituents, I merely asked Hawaiian officials to verify the information contained within President Obama's original birth certificate. They have complied with the request and I consider the matter closed."

Sheriff Joe Arpaio should be sued and removed from office by the taxpayers in the State of Arizona for using their money to send Arpaio's deputies to Hawaii to carry out this injustice and his dirty work because he's angry with President Obama.

Did any of AZ's citizens request to verify Mitt Romney's birth certificate, or their beloved John McCain who was supposedly born on a U.S. Army base in Panama (which would make him a citizen, but still)? AND, why does the state automatically have to give in to some phone calls questioning the Presidents birth? Just tell them he was born here, he IS the president and end of story. Everybody knows, including the GOP/teaparty, that this is smoke and mirrors..

Anyone else remember Kathleen Harris, Florida's Secretary of State who was also the State Chairperson for Dubya back in 2000? You know. The person who approved the West Palm Beach County "butterfly ballots" that had previously been declared illegal in Florida. Or how about the head of Deibold Corp., who provided the Voting Machines to Ohio, and was the head of Dubya's reelection committee for Ohio. You know. The state where some precincts reported 250% of the population (not 250% of the registered voters) cast ballots, allowing Dubya to win there? Nope, don't see any conflicts there at all.
