Arizona secretary of state closes Obama birth certificate matter

(CNN) - Arizona Secretary of State Ken Bennett wrote in a statement Wednesday his office had received the necessary information about President Barack Obama's birth certificate to put the matter to rest.

"Late yesterday, our office received the 'verification in-lieu of certified copy' from officials within the Hawaii Department of Health that we requested in March," Bennett wrote. "They have officially confirmed that the information in the copy of the Certificate of Live Birth for the President matches the original record in their files."

Bennett said last week that he may refuse to put the president on the ballot in November unless the state of Hawaii authenticated Obama's birth certificate, the long form of which the White House released in April 2011.

Bennett, a co-chairman of likely GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney's Arizona campaign, said he was only doing so at the request of his constituents.

"As Arizona's chief elections officer, I have the responsibility to certify the ballot to the state's 15 counties," Bennett wrote in Wednesday's statement. "At the request of numerous constituents, I merely asked Hawaiian officials to verify the information contained within President Obama's original birth certificate. They have complied with the request and I consider the matter closed."

Be that as it may...but for the GOP and Tea Bigots, there still exists that unresolved and equally crucial policy matter of "The President didn't wear a flag pin on his suit in a photo 4 years ago".
don't forget the time that they said he didn't put his hand over his heart during the National Anthem. and remember middle name is still Hussein, and he's still black. Bennett is a fool and a tool.

The state of AZ should be ashamed that they have a bunch of backwoods hillbillies in charge od their state starting with this moron all the way up the man who unleashed the she devil upon the world.
We already knew way back in 2008 what he has now spent state money on to reiterate to what a bunch of imbecilic racist morons the birthers are.
Give it up AZ. Can we give you back to Mexico? No wonder the kardashian look alike from AK moved there.

I'm sorry, but the story says that the AZ SoS dropped the threat to keep Obama off the ballot. It did NOT say that Obama suddenly turned white
    How true, how true.

The GOP is pathetic. What a total WASTE of taxpayer money. That bigoted sheriff, Joe Arpaio, should be ordered to pay back all the money he wasted looking into this. He is a modern day klansman whose got nothing else to do with his time. Maybe not everyone in the GOP is racist, but I'm pretty sure every RACIST voted GOP. What a bunch of losers.

So I assume they have done this exact same process for Romney? When will they announce that they are satisfied with Romney's birth certificate?

Isn't Bennett the same clown who said last week that he may keep Obama off the ballot? These right wing nuts should be in jail for destroying intelligence in our country.

"I have been in AZ for 32 years and the Republican party is afraid of change. "

In fact, psychological studies have proven that to be a key and core personality trait in what makes someone a "conservative."

Sniffit, Republicans here are downright fearful of change not just reluctant of change. Many are also poorly educated, such as Gov. Brewer,Russell Pearce and Joseph Arpaio.

Obama is the most straight up, honest president we've had in years, since pre Nixon, whether you agree with him always or never. And I guess "we" don't know how to act. This whole effort on Ken Bennett's part is pitiful.

Now that they've finally accepted (after 4 years) that the President was born in this country, they will start gathering false claims from birth to 5 years old. Arizona has truly become a state for the retarded.

People who believe the president is not a US citizen believe so only because to believe otherwise means they hate him for another reason that is perfectly obvious but far less socially acceptable. It is fine to disagree with him, but to question his legitimacy as president is idiocy.
