Haley to campaign with Walker in Wisconsin

Washington (CNN) - With less than two weeks left before the Wisconsin recall election, Republican Gov. Scott Walker is getting some more out-of-state help.

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley will campaign alongside Walker, who is facing Democrat Tom Barrett in the recall fight, on June 1, Haley's office told CNN.

Wisconsin voters go to the polls on June 5 to decide whether to remove Walker from office in the wake of last year's divisive battle over his push to limit the collective bargaining rights of public employee unions.

"Scott Walker's fight is about more than Wisconsin," said Haley spokesman Rob Godfrey. "It's about a courageous governor who goes into office and carries out his promises to his state regardless of the pushback. Gov. Haley admires his strength and will go to Wisconsin and remind them of why we need more of it in our country."

Plans to campaign with Walker were in the works before video surfaced on YouTube Tuesday of a South Carolina labor official beating up a piñata adorned with an image of Haley's face, a clip that rapidly shot around the web and drew sharp condemnation from conservatives.

Haley has been a vocal critic of organized labor since Obama administration regulators threatened to halt the opening of a new Boeing plant in Charleston over a labor dispute.
