Mitt Romney expands on 'day one' promises

(CNN) – Cutting the federal deficit and standing up to China on trade are two of the "day one" promises offered by likely GOP nominee Mitt Romney in a new television ad his campaign announced Thursday.

"Day One, Part Two" is the sequel to Romney's first general election television ad, which the campaign unveiled one week ago. In that ad, Romney listed another set of proposals he would begin to enact his first day in office: approving the controversial Keystone Pipeline and beginning to repeal President Barack Obama's sweeping health care law.

The Romney campaign will spent just under $2 million to air the new ad in Ohio, Iowa, Virginia and North Carolina, according to an ad buying source. All four states are considered up for grabs in November's general election.

In the spot, an announcer asks, "What would a Romney presidency be like?" Romney is shown walking through a campaign event with former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, an early Romney supporter and potential vice presidential pick.

The answer: "Day one, President Romney announces deficit reductions, ending the Obama era of big government, helping secure our kids' futures."

The announcer continues by telling viewers "President Romney stands up to China on trade and demands they play by the rules. President Romney begins repealing job-killing regulations that are costing the economy billions."

Like the first "Day One" ad, Romney's campaign also released a Spanish-language version of the spot.

CNN's Kevin Bohn and Kevin Liptak contributed to this report.

"Day one, President Romney announces deficit reductions, ending the Obama era of big government, helping secure our kids' futures."
The era of big government was under Bush. Obama has cut the federal workforce dramatically. So this is a flat out lie.

Romney is a silver spoon kid that grew up making money because he had money behind him. Not a great businessman, but a big blowhard! It's all about me, me, me.

Mitten kill healthcare for 30 million Americans. He will cut social programs, such as Medicare, Medicaid, and social security. He will take moom the middle class, and working class and give to his rich friends, and when the rich pack up and move to China because of less consumers, he will still blame Obama. He will enact free trade for his rich friend pitting American middle. Class. Workers against China slave workers. I wonder who will save shareholders more money. Obama need to start rebuilding America and put America to work

The president cannot cut the deficit by unilateral action. The budget has to be approved by Congress. If Romney becomes president, the budget he has proposed, which will take effect in 2014, actually increases the deficit. Try this mental exercise, Republicans. Cut your income by 20%, and promise to yourself that you will cut spending somehow (like the Ryan budget and the Romney budget, you have not figured out what to cut). Will you debts decrease?

A Romney Presidency means several new wars, bloated defense spending, legal protections for special interests, huge tax breaks for wealthy, white, christian, males, and the continued destruction of the 99%.

    In short, a disaster.

Well, let's compare this to, say Obama's plan. "Change. What kind of change? The kind that involves wasting trillions for tax dollars and plummeting us even deeper into debt. That kind of change."

When do the debates begin? Anyone can spout a bunch of lies into a camera. Lets get to the meat of this situation. I am so sick of the lies, the biased media and the obstructionist congress. Where the heck are Mittens tax returns? And why isn't the media pressing this issue?

    OBAMA 2012!

Mr. Romney wants to stop us from getting good health care .. a lot of us can't afford health care right now, and we suffer because we have to choose whether we pay the rent and eat, or have good health care. Mr. Romney wants to take away the care we all will have access to after by 2014 .. and the health care a lot of people are already getting from it. If he guts the health care Bill, then all that will be gone, too. Mr. Romney promises to create all kinds of jobs .. from where? The jobs are already going out as much as they can, considering the recession we've been going through. How's Mr. Romney going to accomplish what all the companies and the government is struggling with right now. I think the man is promising without anything going for him, except the thought that we will fall for his malarky! That's what all those promises add up to ... just about nothing. Our president told us at the start of his run for the Oval office .. that it would take the first four years, and then some, to straighten out the mess we were in, and still are in to some extent, though not nearly as bad as it was .. and our president is doing whatever he can, despite the walls put up by the Republican Congress, to keep us going. Mr. Romney, I can't see how you can do as well as our president, since you only have 'business' on your card ... and it takes a whole lot more to run the country, than just business as usual.

Look what happened when all those job killing regulations were done away with in the banking industry!!! Promise me "two cars in every garage" why don't you. Stand up to China? Right they're the bad guys who have loaned us more money than most people can count!! Let's deal with the world and our problems as they are,not as we pretend....only the extremely rich can live in the pretend world...bought by their money. Most Americans deal and function in reality three whole lives and we need a president who understands this and lives on those same terms.

    Romney is lying...again

In reality, Romney-Ryan grossly increases deficits while President Obama responsibly decreases it with fairer tax policy.

Anything that a newly sworn in POTUS does on his inauguration day would be by Executive Order. It's not like the House and Senate will be in session passing legislation so that he can sign it that same day, or not even the next day.
